Hello all! In a small attempt to get myself posting here again I've taken on a Stock the Pond challenge, wherein you breed an XXX of a colour with one of their two direct opposites (one has a warm range, the other has cool). The aim is purely colour chaos to reintroduce abominations commonly seen before special eye matching projects came about. Of course, while the colour chaos is the main goal there's plenty of room to celebrate hatchlings that beat the odds (XXX, XXY, XYY, XYX) or are surprisingly pretty XYZ.

I rolled 76 first for Thicket, but the only XXX thickets on the AH were both Obelisks going for 600k. A bit too expensive so I rerolled and got 152 for ruby. Ruby's direct opposites are caribbean and teal - there weren't many teal options so I got two caribbeans instead. Why two? Because I had the luck of getting both a modern "good Samaritan" (one parent is an Imperial) pairing and an ancient pairing!




Once they've all grown up and are RTB I hope to post their weird and wonderful offspring here. I'd love to know if anyone else takes on this challenge or has some of their own!

Tarn - Lovely babies! Thank you for always being a steady influence on these threads and posting your beautiful and fun hatchlings for us to admire. That green and red Imperial really reminded me of some dragons I've owned in the past!

Falcon - I'm not usually into purple dragons, but your Obelisk couple are gorgeous. Really love the fade with the black. Can't wait to see their kids!

Gorman - Always fun to see your lair's recruits and I enjoy how actively you add new dragons there. They all follow the same aesthetic and you really manage to make Faes exciting. I love it.

Vare - That sounds like a fun challenge, and it's good to see you back! Will be very interesting to see the results.

Dewclaw - Janke is absolutely gorgeous, I just can't take my eyes off him. Can't wait to see him all gened up and ready. The new pair of blue wings are really interesting as well. That's an interesting primary range they've got there.

Bullet - Citritis is a stunner, wow! I don't usually like pinks but he's really showy in a good way. Very cute babies too!

I saw a tundra and couldn't resist making him into an Obs. And his whole personality and outfit just came together. Then I needed a mate for him and there was pretty Malaya, just waiting for me to click the buy button. My wallet isn't thanking me.


And as I scrolled my way through all the Obs babies...my weakness for Tarnish ensnared me and little Tapio moved in. Named after the pagan Finnish god of the forests (and a cat I used to own in my youth) he's just too adorable. I gave him spinner wings for a hint of red and I'm in love.


I also finished geneing up my G1 guy. <3


Edit: Forgot that I also bought this beautiful lady because Tarnish and Spring...can't resist. CANNOT.

Varethyn: I love the stock the pond idea! I actually have petalbutt fae scattered around the color wheel--I usually breed ones next to each other, but it would be fun to do opposites!

Mozag: yes, we both love tarnish! I'm starting to bump up against my self-imposed upper limit for permas, so new acquisitions will be slowing down a bit. I should be able to talk myself into letting a dragon go once a week though, so I can continue to have fresh blood!
