Forgotten Gryphon tameable

So I was just going about my night and found this beauty; Forgotten Gryphon. Level 64 Elite rare. He is tameable however you must be level 64 minimum to tame him and he's on a spawn cycle with other rares. I watched his spawn point and he seems to be on about a 30 min timer between kill and respawn.

I just found out online that the forgotten gryphon is undead, so technically speaking, this is the first pet that requires two skills to tame

Woot!!

Made a macro to target and tame, stayed in the center of the cliff spamming it and I started taming the second it spawned. It hits really hard. Was seconds from killing me when the tame went off.

If you turtle before casting tame it's an easy tame.

Oh wow. I've only ever found that NPC as 2 levels above me, so it was never tameable in practice. They must have changed it! Thanks for reporting!

It scaled too high for me once I reached level 70, I guess it only works on lower levels than 70

phew, thanks for the head up! saw your post about it being too high lvl at 70 when i was two bard of xp shy of lvl cap. turned around and snagged him

Hello everyone! been a long time but was wondering if anyone else had noticed that Gryphon and Bloodgullet revert to opaque forms during bestial wrath and then back to the transparent forms?
Just an interesting observation.

Does anyone know if there's a prerequisite / something that causes the Gryphon to spawn? I've sat here for awhile (far past the 30 minutes) and it never seems to show up. ):

The gryphon only spawns on "certain" days. Like most rares in Dragonflight, they don't spawn every day, and we don't know if it's a set rotation or random. Just keep checking and pray.

I was hoping that wasn't the case, thank you for the confirmation x___o Guess I'm not leveling my main hunter until I can finally catch a day it's up lmao

The gryphon finally spawned for me (I've seen wowhead comments say that the spawn only happens after 6pm server time, which honestly seems to ring true, because it spawned around 7:30pm for me and I'd never seen it spawn before -- but that might've just been totally random). Unfortunately, it seems like whatever level-scaling they have implemented had already kicked in for the character I'd been camping on, because it spawned at level 67, while I was only 65 :/

Really disheartening lmao some other people showed up ~1-2 minutes after it spawned to kill it so I helped them because there was nothing else to really do, and just logged off. ):

Like to know what this time limit is cause I have leveled up twice, and each time it has been one level too high. It appears Blizzard might have "hotfixed" to keep hunters from taming that way we ca not steal it away.

Could a level 70 use the level sync system to tame this? Could it work on other tamable 72 Elites like Makhra the Ashtouched?

Update: Still can tame, but need to be very fresh 62 to 69. Spawned first time at 6:30 pst then one after each kill. Others on WoWhead said it was common for it to spawn at 6:30.

Update again. Spawns one hour after each tame or kill was 64 and spawned level 64. At 63 it was 64, so would get to level 64 before making the tame. Spawned at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 pst.

I don't post here much (obviously) but I got the Forgotten Gryphon last night.

Recently dinged 65, had just gotten to the Centaur storyline in the main campaign. Had no issues with the tame outside of waiting for it to spawn.

This guy hotfixed? I hit lvl 64 and cant tame him at all. Says too high level.
EDIT: Hit 65 and it continues to jump up in level, not allowing me to tame. Does indeed appear to be hotfixed :C

Has anyone else tried to tame him since the 1st? I had to give up on getting him on my main hunter (couldn't put off leveling to 70 since I raid on that character), but have had an alt hunter out there for some time at level 62, just hoping to get a chance.

Really wish they'd just let us tame Gryphon and Slurpo at level 70, since some of us were able to tame one or both of them before the hotfix. Not really fair otherwise. Lol.

my second hunter is sitting at 69 because ive been trying to tame it from the lowest req level to 69 to tame him. still cant tame him now still :c
