Is this the first expansion with no new families? I'd like to suggest there be one. Unsure what though. Slimes? A skill book to tame aberrations within existing families similar to Undead? (N'zoth Serpents, Void Hounds, Slimes, etc)

It is. We almost didn't have one in Dragonflight, but then Lesser Dragonkin were created.

I floated the idea of at least finally giving snails their own family (since placing them in Carapids was a temp. job and they don't really fit). It would give the appearance of a new family, even if they're not exactly new, but so far nothing.

This kind of thing isn't the responsibility of the area designers who add pets, as it requires a lot more behind the scenes work to add a family and is down to the class designers. But it's telling that once upon a time they could add 3 new families at a bare minimum and now they don't have time to add one.

Just a heads up, I removed all the ramolith appearances from our database that had "bristle" geosets but didn't have any moss/grass texture on their skin. In these cases the bristles just looked like stone spikes.

In game I've only seen the bristle geosets used for grassy skins. This makes sense, as they're meant to make the mossy patches look like grass.

Like, compare:

I simplified the look names from "mossy w/ bristles" to "grassy".

There are actually a few ramolith npcs, with bald options and bristles options with no horns, they are the grassy/mossy variants, no clean variants

I suppose it is a good thing ultimately that it's so hard to think of anything that could qualify. There isn't a lack of cool new appearances this expac too. I especially love those whipspiders, more creatures based on obscure animals is my jam. ^w^

By the way, did anyone find that new spirit beast yet? There was a storm gryphon, right?

This one must be some sort of puzzle or something similar to Bloodgullet and Spectral Gryphon, someone recently posted a screenshot about a couple hours ago, needs some testing

I heard it’s in the dungeon with the cloudrooks, it’s a friendly mob, but other testers are trying to figure out how to make it hostile to be tamed, still hasn’t been found yet

Those are the following beasts I wish would become tameable when TWW releases.

- Lethargic Mosswool/Grazing Mosswool - Isle of Dorn - Can be added to the Gruffhorn family.
- Masked Ferrets - Isle of Dorn - Can be added to the Rodent family. ( I know it's not a rodent, but that the only family that works out for them )

Hey all,

Thanks for your kind offers of help in compiling Petopia data for TWW 💚 It's very much appreciated.

The reason I haven't asked anyone yet is that it takes time to explain what is needed (Petopia needs particular kinds of data) and between Covid (which I'm still recovering from) and deadlines I just haven't had much time. I believe this coming week is the last chance I have to get in tame requests and pet bug reports before launch, so I had the choice of either just working on those as fast as I could to get the data I need (within limits, since I need breaks and still feel crap), or spending the time training others in how to collect data and help me. Whether or not it was the right decision, I decided to just solo it as fast as I could.

I'll still need a lot of help checking my data, filling in missing pets (and I'm sure there are plenty of those) and looking for stuff in instances. Once this first pass is done I'll ask for more help, if it's still on offer.

Thanks! 💚

One thing I could use help on right now is checking the info I have in this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=27034

... some of which was added in May and could be out of date now. Like, it's possible some of those creatures in the tame suggestion list are now tameable.

But also, does anyone have a character of level 80? Mine's only 76 after the last wipe, since I've been focussed on cataloguing rather than levelling, so I can't check some of the stuff that requires higher characters.

Most importantly, it'd be wonderful if someone could check the following to see if any now retain their names after taming:
  • Twice-Stinger the Wretched - ID 219271 - rare swarmite in Dorn - requires blood beast taming skill, which I can't seem to get on the Beta.
  • Tephrantennae - ID 221126 - rare cinderbee in Dorn. - She's elite, so def. need to be 80 to test her.
Thank you! :)

Oh shell yes! This was the one I wanted! ^w^

Though, I don't think I can release the other I tamed now, realized they look like a big bamboo shoot and I think that's rad for my Pandaren. 😅

I copied my account data so I have the skill on beta, twice stinger the wretched is tameable, but doesn’t retain its name, but couldn’t find any others

Unfortunately, this goat is no longer tameable. I used Beast Lore on it, and it still has a specialization, a diet, and tamed abilities, but the red text "Cannot Be Tamed" can be seen above all of that information. I even tried taming it and the following text can be seen in the middle of my screen "Creature Not Tameable". :(

Well, That’s unfortunate, out of all the unintended pets put into place, they choose the void goat, we can still tame vanishing nightmares(for now), baby salamanthers, and sunken river eels, a gold regular eel model that retains its red aura, it’s hilarious out of all the things the goat is untameable now, which was/is a perfect taming candidate compared to those

Edit - they also added a new void trail effect to the aforementioned malefic goats and the umbral stalkers in hallowfall which are still incorrectly classed as lizards

Yeah, there's a bunch of different void goat NPCs and I noticed they're all now untameable. Odd. I guess there's a reason for it.

Thanks! :) I can't copy my account data. Did you do it some time ago? Maybe you got it done before they changed it?
