I've never read anything by Ann Rice before. I would have honestly preferred to start with the first book, but I didn't have much of a choice--the English class called for Lestat and my grade depends on it, haha.Vephriel wrote: Also, was The Vampire Lestat the first and only book of the Chronicles that you read? I highly suggest reading them in order, otherwise it's just not the same. Interview With The Vampire is the first in the series and The Vampire Lestat would have been much better had you read that first.Just my opinion though, which is admittedly biased as they're some of my favourite novels. ^^
I'd like to go back and try reading the full series at some point, but I'm a bit leery of it at the same time. Some parts of Lestat were fantastic and I couldn't put the book down, while other parts just seemed to drag on far longer than they should have had to. It's one of few books I've ever read that kept me on the fence throughout the entire thing as far as how I felt about it; usually by the halfway point I can decide if I like or dislike a book. Not so with this one.
