Ah, it's been a hot minute so I guess I forgot you did do some spider crab research. Now Wain HAS to make that arachnophobia page/filter! As for our missing lava spider, R.I.P. indeed. That's so unfortunate.

The cool part about this mode is I can use a ferocity crab, and a non exotic dragonfly on my main hunter if I decide to use the mode

That's a good outlook. While I'd prefer not to turn EVERYTHING into crabs, I do like how spiders are so humorously small when they're in crab form. It gives good insight on the scaling of pets that are tamed under the wrong flag, similar to the amusingly small armoredon that's a clefthoof. I just wish it wasn't crabs; I'm not bothered by it, but why couldn't they be cheeky and make them something else, be it funny like bears or more serious as worms? Why crabs, of all things? Now to just find the right spider->crab that I'll enjoy when I run dungeons not infested by eight-legged freaks...when the server is back up, at least.

I forgot I had Arachnophobia mode on for some laughs, so every spider was a crab. This made me wonder what crab model each spider would turn into when tamed. From a very small pool, I noticed that every spider of a specific skin had the same crab model. For example, the bright green gracile spiders would always become yellow crabs.

I don't think calling this "minor" would be right, but this feature should probably be further investigated. While I personally don't mind spiders, I do like how hilariously small spiders become when they are tamed in crab form. How rough would it be to have an Arachnophobia mode for Petopia? I think it'd be nice for the people who are bothered by spiders to be able to see what crabs they'd be getting with the filter enabled ingame. This would obviously require a bit of legwork, since there's so many spider looks to cover, but I think the effort would be appreciated by someone.

Also worth note; I don't think the "Black" magma spiders exist anymore. I was going to start doing the spider->crab catalog myself, but when I checked on the spider that has been bugged ALL EXPANSION, I couldn't find it. Not a single instance of it existed. The only skin that was spawning was the original "lavatarantula" skin. Can anyone confirm this? It was this look;
The black Lava Tarantula was removed from the game in patch 10.2.7 when the new stables UI was implemented. I noticed this when I was going through my stables and saw that the black Lava Tarantula I had tamed turned into a normal Lava Tarantula. I then went and flew around and killed the normal Lava Tarantulas to see if I could get either a black one or the new bright lava skin to spawn and I didn’t see either one. I was going to post something on the forums sooner but I got really busy with work so I didn’t have time. So it is either gone for good or you have to kill like 100 plus Tarantulas to get the skin to show up. Not sure which one it is.

Nothing new was added to our latest build on the beta, as found via a database scraping tool a friend put together. The build on beta realms right now is the likeliest candidate for launch, so we're very likely not going to see anything new crop up until after some patches into The War Within. Only 21 days left before early access players go flooding in, so let's be patient and look forward to the things coming on August 22nd!

I’ll be on vacation for a few weeks but back only after two days of early access, so I’ll still have early access, but not have to play during the disastrous laggy early launch day, I am happy we got tameable raid bosses, better than the other things we got in war within, asides from the spiders and cloudrooks

Thanks for letting me know about the buggy tarantula being removed.

I guess they held on for as long as they could, hoping they could fix it, but ran out of time and/or willpower.

It's a real shame. The black spider was unique, and it could have easily been adapted as its own color since it looked like cooled obsidian. Oh well, we win some, we lose some. Luckily, all of the TWW beasts have their correct skins applied, so hopefully this isn't going to happen again lol.

has anyone checked the Heavenly Gold cloud serpent mini boss that sometimes spawns for time rifts? I was so hopeful we would be able to get the missing serpent color when i first saw him.

Sadly no, there hasn't been any flagging of any forgotten NPCs in Dragonflight. That golden cloud serpent, Pureblooded Cloud Serpent, is not flagged tameable on beta or PTR. It's very, VERY unlikely that they'll let us tame that NPC.

Considering taming Grong breaks the raid until it soft resets, I imagine taming a Time Rift NPC would break the Time Rift.

The best way to tame a raid boss like Grong and Fetid is going to LFR instances from the NPC

If the cloud serpent was tameable, it wouldn't impact the Time Rift that much. At worst, it'd just make that objective bug out and cause anyone on that objective to be unable to get new objectives for the duration of the timer prior to the portal opening. Sure, that'd be a problem worth squashing, but it's definitely not one that would bug out the entire event. Sadly, we can't confirm that for the obvious reasons, but still. Also, like worg said, using LFR is a good way to get raid and dungeon tames without interrupting the flow of the dungeon otherwise since LFR encounters can be reset infinitely, within the 10 per hour instance limit (which really needs to go away, since it's such a dated and limiting mechanic). Also obviously, we still can't grab those BfA tames. Dev team needs to not be rushed so they can get everything out on patch days instead of delaying (unimportant but appreciated) features.

Great news, 11.0.2 will go live next Tuesday meaning we could tame the new prepatch beasts on next reset. I won’t be here to see the armies of grongs and fetid devourers due to vacation, but I’ll tame them when I’m back, better late than never

There's no direct indication of that being the case, but it would be a great surprise. I won't be seeing them myself either since I'm logging out with the darkmoon buff before the faire ends this month, but I'd like to see that be true for those who aren't going to go hardcore on leveling.

There's an 11.0.5 build that's currently developer only. Maybe our guardian angel lurker can slip the new old pets in after all? This feels like the only chance before launch, anyway. Regardless, we'll have our fetids and half of our grongs by the end of the month anyway.

It really bugs me, that alliance get the cool looking undead gorilla and the horde only gets Rezan. I already have the risen gargantuan which is a nice fit with Rezan but i would like the gorilla more. But i like raptors and always had an eye on that T'Zala so i will get that one first!

I'm sure there will be a way for us to get both Grong looks at some point. Sooner would obviously be more appealing, but let's just be patient and pray.

Yeah there better be a way, whether it’s a similar situation to fenryr or maybe some new Easter egg/secret way to obtain both looks for opposite factions. Grong the revenant has bwonsamdi’s face so I’ll name it GrongSamdi

I think Horde have the cooler Grong, personally lol.
