The ptr for this patch won't be starting for a few weeks, but getting the thread started now.

In the stream today we were able to get a better look at the hyenas that I speculated about earlier. They are armored hyenas.





There is also a new mechanowolf in the new raid that has a speaker/instrument system on its back.

I know the news of pet spec changing is exploding, but there’s another really exciting feature. Pack leader is being entirely reworked into an entirely new hero talent spec. It’s basically going from a hunter buffing their pets and themselves with kill command to becoming an actual pack leader

First of all a hero talent in the spec will summon a bear, boar, and wyvern, every 30 seconds when casting kill command, and one talent node that summons a turtle when dropping below 40% health. All of the talents will empower and make those summons super effective and impactful.

Survival hunters can basically be their own version of rexxar, but with a 2h weapon

The "Specializations for hunter pets can now be changed in the stable via a dropdown menu." item isn't listed in the hunter section, but rather the user interface section at the very bottom, so it's easy to miss, even though it's the biggest change to hit hunter pets in many years!

I'm not so happy about this one :/

I get that they're trying to help differentiate specs and abilities, but these are beloved hunter utilities and maybe shouldn't be messed with. Plus they can still be accessed by swapping specs - it's just become an annoying chore to use them.

Admittedly a bit sad about this too, I use Eagle Eye pretty frequently for scoping out rares or far off areas but, I also won't die without it, just an odd one to single out when it's been part of the core class for so long.

There are icons for baby robotic devilsaurs, which could suggest the possibility of there being other color variants available for adult ones other than just the one in the raid.



Same for the cyborg gorilla




There are also a lot of new rat/rodent icons. Possibly just for a battle pet, but it could mean that there are new additions to the rodent family.

Mounts are being posted, but it gives us an idea of what pets there could be available.

Those moths are spectacular, but they're totally going to be trapped behind mounts nobody will use. The hyenas though? GIVE ME A RED ONE. It's so good.

Im digging for the hyena and the eels, too bad the eels are vicious mounts, no big deal. I wonder what color combos armored hyenas will have when we can tame them

Of NPCs datamined so far (most haven't yet), there is one that uses the unused peacock variant. Not tamable, however.

All of the new rats and crabs are critters currently. The crab's textures have rather poor resolution. The rats, on the otherhand, look pretty good.

I don’t mind loosing eagle eye in favor of eyes of the beast, but I do wish that our pets could fly when using eyes of the beast if used on pets that should be able to fly. The warlock eye of Kilrog can fly so I think it would be nice if our flying pets could do the same.

It would be nice to be able to toggle animations, but I don't think that Blizz will make it so that our pets can either actually fly or be able to fly via Eyes of the Beast, mostly due to the raiding and PvP implications of this.

I would love more tameable eels, but the fact that we can FINALLY change pet specs?

Call me a hater, but I'll wait till it's actually in the live version of the game to celebrate.

I'm curious about the new Packmaster talents but at the same time. I have the same feeling for it as I do the warden owl.
I want to play myself, not cosplay a pre established hero. I would play warden more if I could make it a goblin turret or something instead of elf spec 2.
As for the rest of pack leader changes, I'm probably going to have to just wait to see what they actually do. I like current pack leader.

I'm honestly surprised they never made more colours back in the day. It's a very simple texture and would be easy to modify quickly. I always wanted a blue one.
