I just came back to wow and found my Vorquin Foal is missing from by stable and become an adult ... wondering blizzard fixed it ?

Yes. In a move that nobody liked, Blizzard chose to change its model to a default white vorquin almost a year after launch. They let us tame and keep it until the first major patch, which was a very good sign, but then one fateful ptr later, it was taken from us. They did the same later in The War Within with a baby salamander and a burrowing worm, though those were simply made untameable first before being model swapped.

In cases like that it's kind of random whether they decide to change the model or just leave it for those who already have it. I don't know if there are any criteria involved (how many people have it, or how much of a fuss was made about it or anything else?) or whether it's just down to the preference of the game dev who is handling that case It's not like they discuss their decisions on stuff like that. It does seem to be more common with recent cases, though.

I suspect that the difference in judgment in these cases depends on the developer responsible for fixing the problem at the time.

What I really don't understand is why they went out of their way to nuke the model for the Tundra Vorquin Foal, stop spawning the tameable version, and create an entirely new ID for the same mob to serve the exact same purpose (no purpose). They didn't do that for most other unintended tames. People kept their grubs, people kept their Koosus, that one person in the world has their Ha-Kalan, the three or four people still have their Murkfur Pups, and so on. The choice that was made for most unintended tames is what they should've gone with; flip the switch on the problem NPC so it isn't flagged tameable, and that's it. No new IDs, no new models, no other unwanted bells and whistles. Just a quick "zip up your open fly" fix.

Oh well. At least those of us who had and lost our Dreamway Pups, our Vorquin Foals, our baby Salamanthers, and our burrowing worms can remember having them and at least had fun before a nonsensically complex and universally disliked change was made. Never forget your Foal, or any other unintended pet you may have lost. Especially don't forget your Garwal, if you got him back then.

They should really add Ha-Khalan back as a spirit beast, now.

They added Spirit of Atha (as a non spirit beast) so no reason they can't add back that one.
