Truly devastated to hear about this.
She helped to make the game a lot better for all of us and she will always have a very special place in my heart.
Thanks a lot Mania, you will be missed...

Re: In memory of Sandra 'Mania' Powers
I posted on the reddit, but it's still wildly sad to hear. I never interacted with her personally, but I always remember her being so cheerful and helpful in the forums, before she had to pass it off to Wain as her health declined slowly.
Took my OG hunter to Trueshot, to spend a bit of time with her NPC.
Always and forever, if I may be frank, fuck cancer.

Re: In memory of Sandra 'Mania' Powers
can I just say it's been so heartening to see the outpouring of love and support for her, not only here on the forum, but also on Reddit, I've never seen a post gain so many positive comments in a short time there, her work really has touched so many people over the years and was such a cornerstone of the game, she'll be remembered by so many <3
I spent some time playing Project Gorgon last night, it has a very nostalgic early MMO feeling that was comfortable and familiar, it felt like a nice way to honor her memory

Re: In memory of Sandra 'Mania' Powers
Oh my goodness. I know I haven't been around in years (I also quit WoW a few years ago), but this is a devastating blow. I'm legit in tears......
Mania, you'll be sorely pissed, my dear. You were such a beacon of light and gave us pet lovers a haven like no other.
I have so many memories here. So many learning experiences as a Hunter lover and a person.

Oh man, that's so sad to hear. I've been using the site since I started playing back in MoP, and for every single hunter I make, I always come here to choose their pets, and only now, unfortunately like this, I got to know who was behind it. Her work helped so many of us hunters to get our loved pets. Really sad news.

I am so, so sorry. My deepest condolences to her friends and family. It's clear she made an immense impact on the wow hunter community. This site is absolutely wonderful and essential.

I've always felt the hunter community had a specialness that other classes were missing. I believe Mania was a big part of starting that. Back in the day it was always nice to hear her pop up on a podcast or interview, and just recently this song came up on my iTunes. She's one of the many hunters contributing. Rest in Peace, Mania and thank you for everything you did. <3

Re: In memory of Sandra 'Mania' Powers
Such sad news
I have been actively visiting Petopia for what feels like forever. I remember the OG pages, and learning how to find the pets that I still have today in modern WoW. Mania started such a wonderful and vibrant community and Wain, you've been such a great steward and creative force in the ongoing community. I'm very grateful to have been a small part of such a wonderful place. We'll miss you, Mania.

Re: In memory of Sandra 'Mania' Powers
OMG. I don't understand how I missed this news, or the news from last year that she'd had stage 4 cancer. I haven't played WoW in ages, I only saw this because a friend who plays and uses this site saw the post, noticed she'd worked on Asheron's Call, and pinged me on Discord.
I knew Sandra as "srand" first, when I was in the AC community and she was an engineer on the dev team. She was lauded by the fans for isolating and fixing the infamous "Wi flag" bug. And then I knew her as "boss", when I joined the AC team as their community manager in 2003. We worked together through AC's transition away from Microsoft as publisher, our team moving from Turbine's Massachusetts office to a new Los Angeles studio, and the launch of the game's second expansion pack. After she and Eric left Turbine and the LA studio was closed down, I talked to her less and less over the years. To be honest I don't remember the last time I talked to her, sadly. But she was brilliant and funny and so supportive as a boss to me when I was brand-new to game development. I'm so sad that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye.
There are other places where I need to write this, but I created an account here to say thank y'all for the post since this is where I actually saw the news.

Rest easy Mania, you'll always be missed. I miss the good old days of trading funny quips with you, and our guild's fierce competition for the next big tame. At last you're free from the painful bonds you wore in life, and I'll always think of you as my friend.

Re: In memory of Sandra 'Mania' Powers
I had to log in here for the first time in eleven years to pay my respects. Mania created an invaluable resource for our community, and I'm sad to hear of her passing. Her legacy will live on through all the lives she touched in the hunter and mount collecting spheres, and beyond.
Rejoined the hunt after a lengthy break... feels good!

Sad day with the loss of her. Went to see her orc in game and pay those respects there as well.
