Monkey diet
I am sure that this information is here somewhere, but I cannot find it. I also have noticed that though monkeys are listed to eat "Fruits, Fungus", I cannot find any fruits that my monkey from deadmines will eat, only mushrooms. I also can only find mushrooms that do up to 22k health regen, so my monkey who is 61 only get about 5k health from them. Any one have any ideas for me? I have just gotten back into WoW.
Thanks,
Jolyroger

Re: Monkey diet
I'm honestly not sure. I haven't fed my pet food in a very, very long time since it really isn't necessary, at least on Retail WoW. Mend Pet is more than enough. I cannot speak for Classic since I do not play it.
Re: Monkey diet
Pets are being funky again. My clefthoof is supposed to like fruit but won't eat it. He only wants cheese.

Re: Monkey diet
Maybe check the levels of the items your feeding them, the pets do tend to only take certain foodstuffs, if not then the item is not classified as such or simply just bugged
Re: Monkey diet
The fruit I bought from a vendor in Dornogal, the other one was from dragon flight, he wanted neither. the mushrooms are also from War within and he won't eat that either, ah but it was an ingredient vs a food you can out right eat. Seems that mushroom he will eat. How curious that other pets will eat meat that is considered an ingredient ! Ah and he will eat 'pie' too. So very curious!
My cloud serpents will still eat the ingredient meat just fine and that's from dragon flight. It's very inconsistent.

Re: Monkey diet
I have found that crabs will eat raw fish (ingredient for cooking) but not cooked fish. Birds of prey and Carrion Birds prefer, more healing, raw meat or raw fish to cooked meat or cooked fish. The deadmines monkey will eat mushrooms, but nothing else. Yes, I have had the issue with the level of the food, so was wondering where in Kul Tirus where to get mushrooms, or maybe in Dragonflight. I don't have War Within.

Re: Monkey diet
Try the Innkeepers they often sell food and I've found those often work for pet-food.

Re: Monkey diet
This has been a case for a while, there’s such thing as “meat”, “fish”, “raw meat”, and “raw fish”. Many of the older families, like cats, wolves, birds of prey, etc only eat the normal meat, families from newer expansions, like hydras, blood beasts, and hoppers are able to eat raw meat, I think it’s weirdTalihawk wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 9:44 pm The fruit I bought from a vendor in Dornogal, the other one was from dragon flight, he wanted neither. the mushrooms are also from War within and he won't eat that either, ah but it was an ingredient vs a food you can out right eat. Re: Monkey diet
Pet food has become something of a vestigial limb for hunters, I suspect there isn't a lot of dev focus on maintaining diet preferences and ensuring specific food gets flagged for pet consumption, as it's not a needed ability any more. I do feel for people who just like to keep up with it for RP purposes though, it was a nice detail once upon a time!

I do actually use it now and again, when mend pet doesn't heal it all the way and I need the pet healed up between pulls.

Re: Monkey diet
Just personal immersive stuff. I think they should have left the requirement to feed pets. My cats and snakes IRL get upset when I don't feed them on their preferred schedule.
