Patch 11.2 bugs and tame suggestions

Unread post by Wain »

Thanks to Werebearguy and Valnaaros for loads of help in creating this summary.

Link to our Patch 11.2 pet summary page.

Wrong Classification
  • Netherdeath (241673) is currently misclassified as an Aberration, should be a Beast (Ray). It's a cosmic ray.
  • Crackling Wyrm (236191) is currently misclassified as an Aberration, should be a Beast (Serpent). It's a mana wyrm.
  • Crackling Wyrmling (236258) is currently misclassified as a Humanoid, should be a Beast (Serpent). It's a mana wyrm.
  • Dune Wyrm (231024) is currently misclassified as a Humanoid, should be a Beast (Serpent). It's a mana wyrm.
  • Slateback Cub (234475) is currently misclassified as a Dragonkin, should be a Beast (Stag).
  • Slateback Cub (230557) is currently misclassified as an Aberration, should be a Beast (Stag).
  • Necroray Pup (236976) is currently misclassified as a Dragonkin, should be a Beast (Ray).
  • Queen Bee (at least 6 IDs: 232152, 232208, 232395, 232601, 232605, 232613) is currently misclassified as a Humanoid, should be a Beast (Wasp).
  • Orith the Dreadful (232127) is currently misclassified as a Humanoid, should be an Aberration (at leasts most of the medium gorilla-like anima devourers are classed as Aberrations).
  • Void Slayer (237755) is currently misclassified as a Beast (and as a tameable warp stalker!) when it's some kind of new arthropod-like humanoid. Not sure if it's in the game, but noting it anyway.
  • Should Void Creepers (numerous) be changed to Beasts (currently Aberrations)? They look like they should be tameable carapids, as they appear to be cousins to krolusks. All 3 colours have potentially tameable NPCs, see blue, green, and red.
Could Be Made Tameable
  • Wastes Ray (234201) - only cosmic ray with this colour, so would make all looks available if it were flagged tameable (Ray).
  • Netherdeath (241673) (Ray).
  • Enraged Lapbug Shade (239835) - only lapbug beast we've found. Currently untameable, so model unavailable for taming (Water Strider).
  • Void Hunter (234416) (Fox).
  • Phase-Lost Creeper (246608) (Carapid).
  • Razorwings in Korthia (Feathermane). See untameables lists for purple, red, green, and yellow.
  • All Void Creepers. They look like they should be tameable carapids, as they appear to be cousins to krolusks. All 3 colours have potentially tameable NPCs, see blue, green, and red.
  • Animites (from K'aresh and Shadowlands) and Mutant Animites (from Zereth Mortis) could be changed from Aberration to Beast and made tameable as Blood Beasts. They're the same basic design as swarmites and blood ticks, but suck life energy directly rather than through blood. See animites link for a list of appearances and NPCs.
  • Devourer Scavengers (from K'aresh and Shadowlands) and Mutant Devourer Scavengers (from Zereth Mortis) could also be changed from Aberration to Beast (Blood Beast). These are the bipedal ones that are like little saurids.
Appearance Change Suggestions
  • Sha'ryth the Cursed (232006) could use the currently unused Brown Razorwing skin.
  • Enraged Lapbug Shade (239835) could use all 3 of the currently unused Lapbug skins (as well as its current blue skin). Unless more lapbugs are coming - this is currently the only one.
  • K'aresh Stalkling (234780) uses the older warp stalker model - should probably be updated to the newer warp stalker model, to match its parent K'aresh Cragstalker.
  • Void Hunter (234416) uses the Ardenweald fox model. Is this intended or is it a forgotten placeholder for the new thorntail fox model?
  • Phase-Lost Creeper (246608) currently uses the krolusk model but the 'creeper' name suggests maybe it's meant to use the new void creeper?
  • Void Crawler (242374) currently uses the krolusk model but the 'void crawler' name suggests maybe it's meant to use the new void creeper?
  • Lurking Phaseburrower (242548) currently uses the old shale worm model. Is this intended or is it a forgotten placeholder for the new cosmic worm model. The blue and red cosmic worm looks are still unused.
Name retain suggestions
Pet-Related Bugs and Issues
  • All Razorwings currently lack a ground attack animation, causing them to 'T'-pose when attacking as pets. In Korthia, they seem to be constantly airborne and attack while airborne. Is it possible to set them as airborne permanently?
  • Cosmic Rays have an issue with their movement animation where they temporarily stop animating.
Model colours still untameable or unavailable (for currently tameable or new models only)
Cosmic Rays

Teal cosmic ray: could be available if Wastes Ray (234201) is made tameable, otherwise maybe it could be given as a unique look to the rare The Nightreaver (232111).

Cosmic Worms

Blue and Red cosmic worms: no creatures currently use these looks. Both could be give to the Lurking Phaseburrower (242548), if this NPC was changed from using the shale worm model. Otherwise, only real option is adding them as extra colours to the Toxic Ridgeworm (242260).

Razorwings

Green and Yellow razorwings would be available if the Korthia ones were made tameable. The brown razorwing would only be available if added as an extra colour to an existing NPC, or given to the new rare Sha'ryth the Cursed (232006).

Void Creepers

All three void creeper colours would be available if existing NPCs were made tameable. They appear to be carapids / cousins to krolusks, but are currently classed as Aberrations.

Lapbugs

No lapbugs are currently tameable. Only one beast NPC (the untameable Enraged Lapbug Shade) is known and currently only uses the blue and yellow appearance.

So far so good, I would add a controversial suggestion, the Devourer Gorgers and mutated gorgers (the gorilla ones) should be tameable as gorillas, hear me out, devourers should have their own taming skill, similar in fashion to lesser dragonkin and undead, the blood beast ones should be in blood beasts, but not require the old skill

The maroon Necroray skins should be replaced with a better skin like dark grey and purple, magenta, and purple as they make more sense in a void filled place like k’arresh, the maroon ray makes no sense there at all

If stalker of the wastes is extremely rare to the point that we have to wait for hours or days to tame, flag the void stalkers in the new delves tameable

Make tamed thorntails slightly larger

Add new lapbug npcs to the domes in phase diving, same fashion as slatebacks, thorntails, and K’arrocs

Make tamed K’arrocs slightly smaller or make other birds of prey with the same skeleton larger akin to K’arrocs

The light blue text is rough on the eyes, though that's probably because I'm still using the light background on the forums lol. As for the list, I'd suggest what I said in the other thread about the Invasive Wurm; Invasive Wurm (currently shows as critter on wowhead, but it's an untameable Worm beast on ptr) could be flagged tameable, and if no fun is allowed, give them one or both of the unused Cosmic Worm skins. These spawn when breaking Invasive Wurm Egg during the quest Restoring Hope.

In favor of the Invasive Wurm being made tameable, keeping its model would NOT be a problem as we have several examples of tameable beasts who have critter models, especially the silkworms from Mists of Pandaria that use an incredibly low-res texture and model.

Sorry, for the few people using light background :) I've changed the format of the headings so that people with light backgrounds will see a dark background around the headings. I hope that works okay!

It wasn't anything highlighting the text myself couldn't fix lol. I'm oldschool and can't read the site without the good old white and light blue bg. I mean, I CAN, but I just stubbornly choose to keep the light bg :p

On topic with the content though, I can't get over how good the worms look. While I LOVE how faithful the ray texture and model are, the worms just catch my eye the most. The art team remains the most consistently high quality part of WoW by far with some of these new assets. Hopefully most of the requested changes are heard and applied, because we're so close to a perfect hunter pet patch. Well, perfect with what's added, but still!

I'm going to throw this out there, as a friend who isn't into pets like us lunatics said something really good. The new worms' glowing chest should have a soft pulsating glow. When he said that, and I thought about how they don't actually glow in the game, I was distraught. It doesn't need to be a bright pulsing glow, but it should definitely have SOME kind of glow to match the fact that the texture has very clearly implied glowing around the chest area.

We haven’t really had super perfect Hunter pet patches since BFA and early shadowlands. Shadowlands towards the end got worse and worse with Hunter pet looks, I’m not saying they are bad, they just weren’t as exciting at the time. Dragonflight also pulled out some cool new hunter pets into our stable, but it was mostly old types of mobs that got cooler looks. This expansion in my opinion didn’t give out the best hunter pets, considering we are underground most of the time, the war within mostly had new bugs that I don’t really use ever, and placed a ton of old models in the expansion, undermine’s pets were cool, but lacked in the look department, only four new tameable models, so far this patch, although mostly related to older past creatures, they are the coolest mobs added to this expansion, never thought I’d see warp stalkers getting another model for the family and I really like the new ones, I also love the K’arrocs, super rough looking birds, I just love the bare two tails and the thick scales on its back, and for me the cherry on top is the tameable razorwings, probably the best creature added to korthia and now K’aresh in my opinion, and now I’m wondering if korthia was actually part of the shadowlands, or part of a dimensional plane not too far from K’aresh since I see Wandering gromits, or if they escaped from Tazavesh and gone feral, similar to the invasive Krolusks. This may not be the coolest patch when it comes to the zone and hunter pets, but it’s a runner up to the emerald dream since that patch is top tier

I'm kind of dreading the future will be more of the same. We'll probably get updated lynx models for bloodelf land.
But I'm not holding my breath for anything really new. Maybe some plague hounds? Some new spiders. I dont know what new they could add outside some weird, void creatures. I mean would be a great time to give us an aberration taming book I guess.

I enjoyed the junky undermine pets, since that's my aesthetic. I guess it all comes down to what you personally vibe with. I know blood/void elves has TONS to look forward to. But if you aint a fan of that. Probably gon be lacking. I'm just praying that we get some break patches, like going to mess with the trolls or something to break up all the potential purple.

Oh my god they actually gave the worms a pulsing glow on their chests in the most recent build. Lurker dev, you're the GOAT. Here's a video example of its pulsing glow, in Dornogal's inn.

Other things of note with the latest build:
- Cosmic Rays still have bugged movement animations
- Sha'ryth the Cursed is still red rather than the unused brown
- Korthian Razorwings are still not tameable
- Razorwings still lack a grounded attack animation

Had connection issues, so I couldn't check anything else.
