Patch 12.0.5

Unread post by Valnaaros »

With testing start soon for 12.0.5, I've gone ahead and created this tread. There probably won't be much, if anything, added to this patch, but we'll see.

Patch is actually playable, but I can't test much right now. What I did see:
- Plant hydras still have derpy middle heads
- Skorpyron still broken (please never change!)
- Skyriding is hilariously broken and will probably be fixed soon; hold right mouse button while pressing A or D (or whatever you have for your left and right turning keys). Example: https://streamable.com/0zllwa

I hope this is the patch where they fix plant hydra heads. Love my boy, but his chin's far too recessed lol

I openly admit to finding bugs and exploits so they can be reported asap and get fixed. You might have seen some of the fun hunter pet side effects posted here in the past.

I will never share how to perform exploits. The only ones who know are those I personally trust to help get things fixed.

Damn, I was hoping the light hydra skeleton could be directly copied to the old one and fix it. They look otherwise identical. Maybe not :( I'll bring it up again, though.

Well it's only day 1. We have plenty of time to scream at the top of our lungs from the highest mountains!

The icy blue texture from the warp stalker mount has been officially copied to the wild model in 12.0.5! So hopefully we'll find tameable ones soon.

Very nice! Let's hope we can find that thing somewhere, because we are desperately in need of more cool warp stalkers. I'll be keeping an eye out for that thing on ptr.

New Tames:
- Depthstalker Snapdragon is spawned alongside Depthstalker Szeirjal in the Daggerspine Point ritual site (Summoner's Fall story). They are 90 elites. They are a much more accessible source of the Red & Brown Snapdragon.
- Deeplurk Snapdragon (unknown ID as idTip is not functioning on 12.0.5 like advertised) is another lizard found in the Daggerspine Point ritual site (Summoner's Fall story). The three IDs on wowhead do not show the red skin, but I have seen Red & Brown Purple-Black, and Green & Gold so far.
- Tortured Dragonhawk appears in the Broken Throne ritual site (Void Reversal story). It's just a regular green dragonhawk with no special traits.
- Corrupted Ray appears in the Broken Throne ritual site (Void Reversal story). Comes in four colors, but is otherwise unremarkable.

Adjusted 12.0 Tames:
- Bloated Snapdragon is now located just above the marker for the Daggerspine Point ritual site, rather than on the sand bar between the shore and the island. Still does not retain its name, sadly.

Noteworthy but not found (yet?):
- Hal'hadar Leystalker, as Wain posted above.
- Void-Bloated Wyrm uses the Dark Purple Eversong Mana Wyrm model, so it's no longer unique to Duskburn. Potentially more accessible too, will need to find it.

Other Info:
- Ritual Sites are basically short delves without Valeera, and with a renown track. The first two difficulties are incredibly trivial for hunters, as is the case most of the time.
- No tames (so far) seem to brick your progress in the Ritual Site instances.
- Kill and loot everything to find quest items that unlock extra challenges.
- One challenge, "Magical Alarm Bells", spawns extra enemies. Need to fulfill its unlock condition to test.
- One challenge, "Reinforced", spawns extra enemies. Appears to spawn enemies that are relevant to the ritual site/story.
- At Ritual Sites renown 4, rare spawn enemies can be found. Might also include non-rare companions, perhaps?
- At Ritual Sites renown 8, even stronger rare spawn enemies can be found. Again, possible non-rare companions?

Yes, I found those ones last night and catalogued them to be added later on. I might know where the warpstalker is. I'll post once I get to it.

I was not aware that you had anything written down, which is why I was posting live findings. Kind of hard to know what's been found if nothing gets posted :P

The things weren't particularly relevant, since they aren't new additions in terms of appearances and such, and it isn't known yet whether or not the Warpstalker is actually in the game or not, so I didn't post about it.

Well yeah, warp stalker makes sense since we don't know where it's at. It never hurts to post the trivial stuff though. It's still valid information, and what's Petopia if not a source of valid info?

Also, I want to strangle myself after running a tier 4 ritual site while also having reinforced or patrols, whichever one of these spawns the untauntable brutes. I hate it and it made me walk away from the game for a bit. Untauntable enemies are such BS, especially when they hit like trucks. Thank god hunter is so good at being mobile and defensive.

There are a few new models via mounts. They likely will not be on tamable beasts, let alone NPCs, but you never know. The blue bee model was also finally used

Gotta drop in here about these mounts.

The new eagle mount looks cool, looks like the Amani eagle with a new color scheme and a new set of shamanistic armor

The new monkey looks very weird and that grin looks stupid. I like what they’re doing making wood wings grow on the back with the cherry leaves and wooden saddle. The felbat rig has been overused the last couple of expansions, and it triggers me since blizz doesn’t want to give us anything tameable with that rig.

The Gilnean horse looks great, I heard that’s most likely going to be a trading post mount. As a horse model it looks really amazing, the snout & hooves make it look like a great horse to ride into battle, it also looks way better than the bfa horses. The cool saddles and scars are just a bonus and it makes it a cool hunter mount

.....
The bat made me laugh out loud. I am a huge fan of cherry blossoms and it seems like bliz is trying to make me spend money by tempting me with cherry blossom things all of the sudden.

I am going to bite and buy the flying squirrel mounts for the cherry an the void ones (so might as well buy all four in the collection for the mount count at that point).

Then they add the cherry blossom housing decor-which i do not need as I do not love the housing system really ,

And now that monkey mount. Never a fan of the gorilla models-but I will buy that gorilla if it is a store mount. I actually think it looks so ridiculous that I want it?

That horse mount should be an in game tameable-it looks great! Never been a big fan of the horses in wow to tame-they get so blasted small once tamed it throws me off.

The Arboons (flying blossom monkeys) and the Sunwalker Eagles are tagged as $hop mounts, sadly.

The blue bee is exciting! As far as I can tell it comes from a new fun "hide & seek" like activity where a group of players have to disguise themselves as parts of the landscape in Silvermoon and other players have to find them. I'm not sure how you win the bee, though.

The Gilnean Horse is tagged as Trading Post. Unfortunately its textures are a bit wonky, at least currently. Up close it looks much blurrier than BfA horses, more like something from the Classic era. I can't imagine the original art was that bad and I'm hoping it was something that happened during image processing to the database and it can be fixed.

e.g., Gilnean horse on the left, compared to old BfA horse on the right:

The bee is (probably) from prop hunt? Nice. I'm already going to be doing that as my filler activity over fishing, so it's nice to know there might actually be something of value to come from it. A very nice bonus if that is indeed the source.

A new blue-black colour was added for the greatwyrm mount from Dragonflight. Fortunately they didn't add any of the harness shading* they often add to mount textures which means it's identical in format to textures for the wild model and could very easily be copied to it!

I've added it to the database as an unused look and I'll pass this info along. The colour would make a pretty good greatwyrm for void areas.

* Shading on mount textures: Often mounts will have separate body and harness/saddle textures, with the latter displayed over the top of the former. However, mount body textures are often (not always) given shaded patches around the areas where the saddle is going to appear, which means they can't also be used on wild models as they would look weirdly patchy. The original greatwyrm mount look (blue) does have those shaded bits, but it didn't matter as the wild model already has a corresponding texture in that colour. The new mount colour doesn't have the shaded bits and looks like it was created for the wild model, even if it hasn't been copied to it (yet!)

I've never really been fond of those, but that color combo looks good in almost every situation. It looked good on Duskburn, and it looks good for this wyrm. Just kind of odd that they made a new color for that thing and not the new mana wyrm mounts like we have in Prey. Would kill for a mountable Duskburn lol

I agree, would have loved to see more of the new mana wyrms, especially the purple or pink ones as mounts. I could see the Dragonflight mana wyrms being used again somewhere as an oversized mana wyrm. Heck, I saw the old petite mana wyrms in a few dungeons so I don’t see why not

I actually really loved the Dragonflight greatwyrms.

But I agree, more colours of the new mana wyrm mount make sense. Currently, the mount model only has three colours attached to it: pale gold, blue, and void. But the mount uses the same textures as the wild model and any of the other colours (green, red, purple) could easily be copied to it and used. (Though it would also be nice if they added some more saddle/armour colours to match them - there are currently only two saddle colours.)
