Sadly, if there's money to be made people will jump at the opportunity without considering the charitable side. I hope some well-meaning people rehome some of them.

I'll join back in at Some Point(TM). I simply haven't been in a dragon mood and the new UI is throwing me off.

Ranting about the new layout (or lack thereof in many cases).

- Wide doesn't actually fill the screen
What is with modern websites and the fear of using full screen space? Why are they so cared of utilizing ALL of the available space? It's not like this kind of technology is new; this kind of stuff was being done back when we had Geocities and Angelfire websites.

- The menu at the top right looks like absolute trash now
Just no. Flat and lacking detail isn't modern; it's lazy. It's pathetic. I'll be harsh as hell on this because it deserves it. When something looks like trash, you need to call it out, and by god does this need to be called out. It's so crusty and high contrast too; WHY CAN I SEE THE ANTI-ALIASED PIXELS WITHOUT ZOOMING IN?

- Buttons being flat
Why in the world are we using UI elements that look like Tom from Tom & Jerry after he gets flattened by a steamroller? This is just awful looking.

- Red familiar window
I genuinely thought my account got flagged for something bad when I bonded with a familiar for the first time after this update.

- Which Waystone flashing
When changing pages, the which waystone (or whatever that dumb rock thing is) will appear directly under the Support link for a fraction of a second, then disappear. YOU ARE NOT THE QUICKSILVER SLIME FROM DRAGON QUEST, STOP THAT.

- A demonstration of how bad it is, at least from my perspective

How are websites devolving to look WORSE than the early internet? Can we get creative people back on the job who can avoid this kind of downgrade? This kind of downgrading is everywhere. Take me back to when the internet still had soul, back in the early 2000s...

I've been trying to ween myself off of FR for many years now. The new UI layout I think MIIIIGHT be what finally gets me to finally quit.
I've been really unhappy with some of the staff choices for a while now. Mostly with the whole Skin/Accent shit and then when they put in Roundsey to bring back items that I have MULTIPLE SCREENSHOTS of MULTIPLE STAFF saying "These items will never come back so get them while you can."
Just lots of things left a bad taste in my mouth. FR had become a habit for me, especially when I'm getting my day started. Its been hard to break since there isnt really any other site that is actually like Flight Rising that interests me at all.
BUT I'm a person where extreme change can really bother me. Hell, I still use an 8+ year old version of an art program because some of the updates changed the UI enough where it stressed me out. I'd rather deal with the art program crashing than to deal with too many changes xD
So yeah. Not a fan of the huge change with no way to revert back.. BUT maybe the change is good for me so I can finally quit.
Anyways, I'm just blabbering. Dont mind me LMAO

The UI is taking some getting used to, but I am also having problems with the site being very slow. I know a lot of people are saying it's so much faster, and I wish that were the case for me.

Depending on which features on the site it is super slow for me too
it helped a bit when i turned off experimental things


but still very laggy at some points even after clearing cache etc... and i just got a new super computer so that can´t be it... so weird

I'm happy to give the new UI some time, and hold cautious optimism that they'll expand on it in time. My main gripe beside not all pages being affected yet is the icons in the user box and various image assets. They're just so... plain in an ugly way and blend in too much. It's better on Slate mode, but that makes white outlines/full boxes stand out so much more but at least alleviates the same problem Werebear mentioned in that the popup headers are so vibrant on Default that it causes confused panic.

As for the lag, for the most part I tend to have no problems but I did notice a massive lag spike yesterday and a few smaller ones before that. The theory is heavy visitor traffic in the form of AI scraper bots - A lot of people have mentioned it on the forums and engineers are constantly working to block them, so you're not alone in feeling the slowdowns.
