Petopia *may* be coming down asap for a while...

I'm not 100% certain, but Petopia and WCM may be offline for a number of weeks, starting very soon. Or they may be okay, but I'm posting pre-emptively.

You may have heard a very serious PHP vulnerability was revealed today, and it will affect our server. Our sites, and this forum, rely heavily on php, so killing the php server will stop our pages from working. So that may or may not happen any time now.

Our host is probably not going to apply the upcoming php fix and has asked me to move Petopia and WCM to a hosting company. I'm already in negotiation with one but nothing is going to happen until after I get back from leave in early November. And even then I'm not sure how quickly we can get things running.

And to be honest, I'm not sure how much it's going to cost so I don't know if I can afford it. My work has been sparse and the site ads bring in very little revenue these days. But I'll see what I can do.

It looks like we may have a server solution already! I’ll fill you in when I have more details. I’m also away at the moment (in Christchurch right now) so organising the switch will take time, but it sounds positive.

I'm sorry to hear this is all hitting right when you're about to have a nice break, I hope you can still enjoy your vacation and disconnect a bit. Glad to hear there's good news!
