Well, that is the other logical solution here. :D Remove the rares, and pick the skins you like.

It seems we'll likely get 1/2 of what you are talking about.. at least within each pet tree. That will help with the diversity.

Slickrock it is a bit too much to get rid of a pet skin so noone can tame it's fine showing off your pet its not fine to say get rid of the pet skin cos i don't like people who don't want to tame a rare.
I my self don't like tameing rare verstions of a skin just cos its rare but i can see why people like the hunt for it but wanting the skin gone forever cos blizz made a common version of the skin is not fair on others.
i mean you can still hunt that rare one so the thrill of the hunts still there and it makes iy so newbes can tame a skin they like too as heck when i was new i didn't know what a rare skin was so i tamed what i like and i think all hunters should have the right to a skin.
So theres the rare one for you rare hunters out there and a normal one for people who just like the skin its fair for every one!.

Well, I still think the best solution is an achievement system for it. If they give us an achievement for making female toons look like playboy bunnies, couldn't they give achievements for something that actually requires more work?... ;)

I don't know Comuflage. I agree that all hunters should have access to all pets but I do think there should be some rare or unique skins that are really tough to get. It is nice to be able to be easily recognized for a really rare spawn tame, something you've worked really hard on, something you're proud of. After all, those pets are available to everyone, it just takes a bit more dedication to tame them. And when you've got your hard won prize, you can be all the more proud of it's glorious looks.

Also;

That would be awesome.

well Dvatori that was not my point. My point is that maeking a rare skin common is better than getting rid of that skin for ever like SO many people on this thread seem to thing is a good thing.

Slickrock wrote:Hmm... since there is more venting about wanting rares to stay rare... and that I should really take no pride having something that shows that accomplishment, I find that a bit odd.
We aren't saying you shouldn't take pride in taming a rare or hard to obtain specific pet or skin. It is just the QQ I've seen here would be like, people QQing over King Mosh and Tyrant Devilsaurs. Tyrant's are easy to tame, Mosh is like bloody King Krush, only just a smidgen easier.
Perhaps it is too much to say I'd rather see the pet go away than become common, but the problem really is that the rare tames are one of the few challenges in game that a hunter can do solo, and if we aren't supposed to show off the pets we tame, then.. what's the point of rare tames? That's why I really like the idea of a pet-taming version of Frostbitten.
And? So? Once upon a time there was a mob called Brokentooth. Looked just like any normal god damn cat. I even had one of my father's friends, who was a wow addict at the time, and AFTER PET NORMALIZATION TOO, proudly claim how his hunter had Brokentooth and it was the best god damn pet and nothing was better.

And completely ignored and interupted me whenever I politely tried to interupt his idiotic rambling about a 'superior pet'.

You can show off your pet tames, but the thing is, so what? Other mobs Already share skins with rare/hard to tame mobs as it is. LIKE DISHU EVEN! Lv 13. Shares the skin with even a riding tiger model. And once you reach lv 20+, it becomes redundant doesn't it? No one but those you told would know you tamed Dishu. There'd no longer be any 'showing off' because there's no rare or rare/elite nor elite tag on pets anymore.

But you know you did it.

Isn't that all that matters, when YOU know you did it and or close friends do too?
So let's ban all screenshots of rare tames, after all.. that is showing off too.. :-) :D
Or how about not.

I have the feeling this is less about rares that already share a skin with normal mobs, and more about the rares that have a unique skin, a la King Krush, Araga, OCJ, etc.

My feelings have two parts.

Part one: I tamed Snarler because he was rare. I know I could have tamed a Vilebranch Wolf (think that's the name, anyway) much easier, but I wanted the rare. I didn't care that it was the same skin as the other wolf, and I know no one will know the difference. But I don't care! I love my little Skaza because he was what I call a "particular tame". I like rares because I feel like I am hunting or in search of a very specific creature, not just any ol' wolf wandering around. Rak'shiri was the same thing. I could have saved a lot of time by just summoning Shy Rotam, but I didn't want that. I wanted Rak'shiri, dangit! Even though no one can tell the difference, that doesn't matter to me. She's the one I wanted. And when I look at petopia for my next pet, whether or not that skin has a rare or unique mob plays a large part in my decision. Even if I like a particular skin, if it doesn't have a named or unique mob, chances are I won't get it. I'll find something else. It's not because of what other people think, it's because that's the part of being a hunter I enjoy, and I'm very particular about my pets.

Part two: I tamed King Krush because he was rare. There are no other green devilsaur skins out there right now. When someone sees Apollyon, they know exactly who he is and what I had to go through to get him. I love him just as much (actually more than Snarler and Rak'shiri), but he has the added bonus of being a recognizeable figure. He's the one and only, no other devilsaur like him. He's available to everyone, depending on your wallet and your luck. Some people need more time to find him, some people less. There's ganking, griefing, etc. That's why it's such an achievement to have him. I feel proud to have him. Not the kind of ego-pride, but the pride of seeing my beloved green dino stomping happily by my side. I pull him out just to look at him and /cuddle him. I cherish him both because he's rare and unique, and also because I lost literal, RL sleep over him. I dreamed about him, and then that dream became reality. So yes, yes I would be a little upset if suddenly, my most prized pet was made common. I know what I went through, and I'll never stop loving him. But the other part of what makes him so special, that individuality, would be gone. He wouldn't have people /clapping at him or fondly reminiscing of how he pwned them while they were questing in SB. He'd be just another devilsaur. The same goes for Araga or OCJ. They may not make you want to throw yourself off a cliff when you're trying to get them, but they're unique. People know them when they see them, and it is a source of pride for the hunter. Again, not ego pride, but the kind of pride you feel when your child wins a contest or something. Like..."yay!" pride.

Now, if it came down to either retiring King Krush or making him common, I'd still choose common. I don't want the joy I feel to have him to not be available to whoever wants him. But honestly, I don't want his skin becoming common either. Before I saw King Krush in person, I said that it was a shame there were no other green devilsaur skins. But as soon as I saw him there, and then lost him...I didn't care if there were thirty other devilsaur skins like that. I wanted HIM.

And oddly enough, I want a red-brown devilsaur skin in Cataclysm. Who do you think I'm going to tame? I'll give you one guess. That's right, King Mosh. I will put myself through that torture and aggravation just to have what I feel is King Krush's little brother (especially since Un'Goro and Sholazar are connected, how cool is that?!). Even though no one will know it's Mosh, I'll know it's Mosh, and I'll love him, too. But it's even cooler that his big brother Krush is the only one of his kind. :)

Am I a selfish, greedy a-hole? I like to think I'm not, but that's up to you guys to decide.

And the more I think about it, making taming rares an achievement might solve a lot of it. Give a "Beast Tamer" title to those who tame everything on the list...

Maybe not rares per se, but one of every family, I’d love a Hunter title, of course then they’d have to have something for every class...

I’m not worried about new skins in lower lvls, soon enough there will be plenty of new pet skin/lvl combos, what’s rare today, will be common soon enough, and vice versa! Plus new beasties!!!
