Also remember that beta invites don't come through your e-mail, you have to check your B-net page for them!

I tend to dismiss any Blizzard email that gets sent to my spam folder. >.< Since all the actually legit emails are sent to my normal inbox, all the bogus ones seem to get throw in the spam folder. I look at them anyways to get a good laugh before deleting them.

The ones that entertain me the most are the ones that get sent through whispers that my account has been suspended. Funny that I'm still playing though. =D

iv been hearing of people getting actual phone calls from gold sellers trying to sell them crap.but its possible theyre being trolled by people that know them in rl.
i think the scammers are just sending out emails randomly hoping to find someone who actually plays but doesnt pay enough attention to the email to notice that its fake.i get alot of those for other things i dont use, like ebay and online banking.
i believe the term is "phishing"...

I get scam messages on addresses that aren't connected to WoW at all. Sending spam is incredibly cheap.

Some spammers use "spiders" that crawl websites and save any email adress they can find, while some purchase adresses and personal information from other, more reputable companies. That's also how telemarketers work.

Once again I'd like to point out how good it is to make a secret email address to use with your battle.net account and never utter it anywhere else. Even better if you make it a bit random or confusing so that phishers can't haphazardly guess it.

Every once in a blue moon I'll get a WoW scam at my main email address...but that isn't even the one connected with Battle.net so I just laugh them off. I've had my battle.net email for....well, a LONG time now and I've yet to receive any emails on it besides the occasional official Blizzard one.

I haven't gotten emails, but I have been getting whispers in game related more and more. I used to not get gold spammers and other whispers at all!

Most notably, the other day I got one "notifying me" that I'd been selected for the beta. I never signed up for it. Naturally I ignored it.

Yes, in-game whispers have been on the rise lately. I even received a letter in my mailbox about getting into the Beta. The scammers are desperate and hoping to snare someone with all the beta hype.

That's a good point about the secret battle.net e-mail address. I mostly get WoW spam on my professional e-mail account, which is all over the internet.

Speaking of beta and not knowing where else to put this..Would this be bogus ? I thought they made it very clear there would be no keys for beta as it was either on your account or it was not.

My junk folder is full of "Blizzard Account management-beta test invite", Celestial steeds purchases and account changes notifications all from the scammers.
Atleast in the celestial steed page the copyright was actually 2010, were as the beta invites are 2009. but I dont enter any info into the pages, I try through the actual WoW website...sadly, no free steed lol.

much whispers and in-game mail...most whispers I report as scam, then ignore and then wisper "fuck off asswipe" and then continue about my day.

I have a question

I got an email about the Cataclysm Beta... 2 of them actually! I was just wondering, which of these would it say as the sender for the beta?

Blizzard Entertainment or noreply@blizzard.com
???

Blizz won't email you about the beta.
