camping aannnd.....still nothing =(

Omg i've ben camping the Time lost proto drake for about a week now and i cant tell you enough how badly i wanna just leave storm peaks. i hate seeing blue and white all day! ( even thou its pretty ) i wish it would just spawn so i can be on my way! does anyone have any camping suggestions? im open to anything at this point! all im uesing right now is npc scan.

I know people who have camped months/a year for that mount. Just pop in a good movie of farm mats while you wait is all I can suggest.

As far as I know, the respawn timer is set to about 8 hours after despawn or death.

The problem ist that TLPD shares his spawn timer with another rare dragon that drops nothing of interest. And they do not spawn by a 50/50 chance. It's 80% that "useless" dragon and 20% the TLPD.

There might be weeks or months without even spawning the TLPD!

I instantly quit looking for him when I found out and started farming reputation with those wyrmrest guys and got me a red dragon.

The egg you can buy in Sholozar Bazin doesn't offer any better chances on a green proto drake.

They weren't meant for everyone, I guess...

Yeah, maybe even longer. I somehow have 8 hours in mind but that could have been Skoll ot Arcturis, I'm not sure.

yes but I have both the red drake and the green proto. i have 90 mounts now and i'm running out of mounts to farm =O

I gave up on the time lost. I've never been able to find that sucker and I already have three other protos that can pass me by. (Green, Red and Violet) I just figure if I get lucky I'll come across him randomly by some time. Hopefully alive and killable. XD

Not the same as mount farming, but I literally spent almost a full year searching for Loque. Busy server, filled with camping bots that killed every rare they came across, not to mention other hunters and actually miners and what have you circling the basin 24/7.....there were always literally at least twenty people just on the alliance side.

I've heard some terrible stories about people loosing their tag cause it was a DoT, priests MC'ing folks off cliffs (on pvp servers obviously) and of people not looking for it but just coming across it as they headed out to do dailies or whatnot.

My conclusion is that it's one of those mounts you can camp for if you really want it, but if you're just looking to do the mount achievement, you can do it without TLPD and save your sanity.

Aside from that, I've no suggestions. Sorry. I'm really not a big camper to begin with, and even at that my focus has been on pets, not other rares.

I hope you find it. It shares a timer with another dragon I think. Depending on your luck either one could spawn.

Time Lost Proto Drake is very aptly named; you lose a lot of time seeking him. He's a pain to seek out, unless you are extremely lucky and just stumble on him right off the bat (or so I read of other peoples hunts while I was looking for him. It was those stories that irked me the most. "lolz, I wasn't even looking for him, but he popped for me 13 minutes after I got there, lolz!"

I was never so fortunate.

But I am blessed (cursed?) with a tenacious streak, a persistent nature that does not allow me to give up easily. I have only seen TLPD twice. Once was my fortunate catch and the other, I had just flown in to Storm Peaks and NPCscan caught him dead.

So Netherwing, my advice to you is to just keep at it. Download Npcscan's Overlay feature-found on curse. This will show you his routes. And then, well, pray for luck and that you are in the right place at the right time.

As others have said, the main spawn is Vyragosa, who's part of the Frostbitten achievement, but otherwise has nothing special to offer. Her spawn timer is said to fluctuate randomly for anything between 6 and 24 hours (according to WoWWiki at least). Every time she can spawn there's a small chance that the TLPD spawns instead, which basically makes him a rare spawn of a rare spawn. So even though Vyragosa spawns at least once a day, it's actually possible that weeks go by without the TLPD showing up.

I really wish you the best of luck for finding him, but you should get ready for a long search.

Remmber its a rare of a rare. So the blue drake is a rare and the timelost is a rare spawn of the rare.

I have farmed for 3 months straight for him. The ironic story is that I WOULD HAVE HAD HIM if I had been just a minute earlier getting out of the dungeon I was in.

I've seen him dead a total of 3 times, the most recent was when I got out of the random dungeon I was in and I saw the dead corpse below me. I'm giving up for now, because let's face it... When Cata comes out EVERYONE is likely going to buzz over there and ignore it for awhile to rush to 85 ;P
