WTB new class

Unread post by Redith »

So today after talking with my wow buddies I realised that I know nothing about wow classes other then hunters...Whitch figures cause I have 2 lv 80s both hunters. I think to understand wow more I need to level a new class. . I need some class with substance, some level of complexity. Im not sure druid is right because once you pick a tree, your either a healer, DPS or a war, so why not just be the real thing? I wont play a preist cause Im sure id suck at healing. Any recomondations?

I love warlocks. They're similar to Hunters in some ways, and completely different in others. Paladins can be fun too, but only at higher levels.

I've always quite enjoyed starting Shamans. Never had one past level 30, but still. I'm planning on making a Goblin shaman in Cataclysm, anyways I always thought they were really interesting to play.

It's probably best to just go ahead and experiment with different classes. Everyone's going to have their own individual preferences, and having played every class myself (admittedly not to high levels), I have a good grasp of what I do and don't like. I know clothie casters aren't really my playstyle...I couldn't keep a mage, and priests are on the fence. Warlocks are only okay because they're badass and come with demons. :D

I'd say a warlock to get your feet wet with casters. On the flipside, if you want to work with melee then start out with a shaman or a paladin, something with self healing to make the learning process a bit easier.

well when i made my 80s i always looked at it like this.

What is my 80 or 80s right now? So for you hunters.

Do i want to stay Range dps? if yes you can choose
1. Priest- shadow for dps
2.Mage- they are alot of fun and do major damage, can make food and water so you dont have to buy and, port and teleport ( i have an 80 mage)
3. Warlock- Kinda like a hunter since you will get a pet, so helps alot, can summon people, and again major dps.
4. Shaman- Elemental. I love my shammy he is elemental and its nice being able to pewpew and heal. and epic leet totems of doom
5. Druid- Doomchicken (balance)- i didnt lvl as a balance but it is alot of fun you get to summon some trees down the road, and again nice dps

Do you want Melee dps?
1.Paladin- I had a pally- if you choose a pally and go ret, they are alot of fun, and you can heal urself while questing, they do nice dps.
2. Warrior - arms or fury- choose your posion on that my sis has a 80 warr.- they are a shit ton o fun wish i would of rolled one and lvled it they can do insance dps and if u go fury down the road u can duiel wield 2 2handed weaps.
3. DK- i do not care what anyone says dk's are fun :) not saying anyone here says it more or less talkin in game. They can do insance dps, and you do get a pet, if you spec unholy you can have the undead stay with you all the time and then they get a random name every time you bring them out lol. I have a 80 dk as well.
4. Druid- Feral- I lvled my druid feral- kitty form- again, nice amount of dps, haveto make sure you dont put any into tank talents in the feral tree. And again nice to be able to heal urself while lvling.
Rogue- I myself never got a rogue past 20- but from my knowledge, they are a fun class to play and again insane dps and a pain in my butt to kill -_-
5.Shammy-enchance- they are nice can dps and heal urself if need be and later down the road get the totem to summon wolves for a short time,

i think i got everyone... if not opps lol. so it is picking and seeing what you are going to like. Do you want something close to being like a hunter or something totally different. I have a (all 80s) hunter, pally,dk,druid, mage. none of them are really like a hunter at all, if you want something close to a hunter i would say go Warlock, They have pets like hunters, range like hunters. and do INSANE dps :)

If you want complexity and still want to run as DPS I'd recommend an Affliction Warlock or a Feral DPS (ie Cat) Druid. The advantages of a hybrid like a Druid are that if you feel the desire to explore tanking and healing, you can do that with the character you have, no need to start another plus it gives you more flexibility which is a major plus for raids. At 80 you can also queue for randoms a lot faster as tank or healer which is fantastic.

I'd try a few different ones if I was you until you find one that you like. It's good to expand like that. A little knowledge of what other classes are like can go a long way.

Warlocks are nice, but I'm having fun with a rogue right now. With heirlooms I two shot everything. Plus if you're interested BGs, a rogue is perfect. Poor little clothy's don't stand a chance.

I to say mage or warlock. I'm really enjoying my little mage and I've seen some level 80 mages in dungeons do some badass stuff. And yes big dps.

Truthfully, create and try out several kinds. I found out quickly... That there were some classes I just did not like playing.. or sucked at. I mostly knew before they reached level 30 that they were not for me. My first and favorite class is hunter, but I can not get into a warlock or Mage. Sucked totally as a rogue (think they are a special class played by special people) ;)

But I do love playing my Druid, My Paladin (love love) My Death knight, My shaman, and My Priest. My hunter is still my favorite with my Paladin coming in 2nd.

Play more than one at a time.

I love my druid. He was the first toon I got to 80. He's dual specced balance/resto, so he can dps or heal. That being said, I can't imagin eleveling another one. Especially since I did it all resto.

Currently I'm leveling a pally in my main guild. He's at 30 right now, and I seem to be enjoying it quite a bit. I'm leveling him as a tank but I hear Ret is fun too. I've tried a lock (21), a mage (13), a warrior (23), a shammy (32), and a priest (21). I've gottten bored with all of them. None of them seem to keep my interest, including the pally periodically. I'd love a whole new class added to the mix. I don't know what, but something new and exciting. And no, dk's don't do it for me either. I'm really hoping that Cat will bring new excitement to the game and maybe I'll start enjoying some class again.

Honestly, my advice is to try them all and see what you enjoy. Rotate through a few like I'm doing to keep it fresh. As you can see from the levels of my toons, I play one for a while, get bored, move on to something else for a while... rinse, repeat. lol

Also keep in mind that some classes don't really 'start' until later. Like it wasn't until the thirties that I started getting into mages and priests. Paladins don't start until at LEAST fourty. The basic mechanics are there, but they don't really start getting spec defining talents or even class defining skills until later.

Looking forward to that changing in Cataclysm, I might be more motivated to level some other classes that way. :D

Which is why the new talent trees in Cataclysm are starting to sound pretty nice. :D

I wish I could suggest a warlock like everyone else, but for some reason I can't level one past forty-something, try as I might. I enjoy mages a bit more, but all in all I'm really not a caster-dps type of person. I love being a priest in battlegrounds, but I find that I'm not as crazy about their playstyle in PvE (as disc).

The good thing about hybrids (druids, shamans, and paladins) is the fact that you can do so many things with one character. If you were to roll one of those and try tanking, and found you didn't like it, you could easily swap to another spec. I have a level 80 druid (my first 80) and I find that I prefer resto over the other two specs. Feral was fun for a little while but the rogue style of playing isn't my cup of tea. And boomkin...never could get into that. But then with my shaman, I enjoy enhancement more than I do the resto spec, go figure. And on my paladin (who is only level 20-something but nevertheless), so far I'm having a bit of fun tanking. So hybrids are neat in the sense that they are similar, but have different playstyles and that makes them interesting. I have three hybrids that do three different things. :)
