In my opinion, I don't really mind. Yes, I'd be a bit miffed if something I spent FOREVER taming suddenly became common, but you know what?

The two things that were my hardest, most annoying tames? My ghostsaber on my alt and my white devilsaur on my main.

Not exactly things you camp.

Part of why I love them is the pure and utter pain I went through taming them. But the majority of it is the personalities I always end up thinking up for them, the backstories I end up creating.

I cried when I had to abandon my very first pet so I could get my chimera. Do I regret it? No. Did I ever even use my bear? No. But it was my first pet on my first hunter. She was one of the most common skins of bear, the sort you see everyone and their mother running around with. But I cried. I miss her. And she's one of the first pets I'm going to go and retame.

And I'm probably going to name her Shiota again, instead of Astrid (I had renamed her).

I cried when I got rid of Lorcan, my Tanaris hyena for my devilsaur. I named my devilsaur after him, just like I had named my hyena after the ravager I got rid of. And I cried when I got rid of that ravager, too, even though I got rid of him because I couldn't stand the sound he made when he moved. It grossed me out.But I'm gonna retame the same hyena, but name it something else, and retame that good old ravager.

I tamed the clutchmother recently, but it was probably the easiest tame I've ever done. Of course, she was much lower than me, but still. I tamed her because I really like that skin and I was worried it would be gone. But I'm not really too attatched to her. Actually, I kinda feel bad about taming her. I snatched her from her children then forced her to kill them.

Not the best sort of story for a pet.

I'm upset that I was on a vacation from WoW when you could tame the grimtotem spirit guide. I was too low a level, too.
I'm upset that I tried to tame myself a worgen the day after you no longer could (was too low, anyway).
I had traveled all the way to duskwood and tried to tame one there, like an idiot.
But you no what? I'm glad I did. I got Badru, my wolf, even though the worg skin pisses me off. And when I decided to get a zombie wolf, I dumped the old Badru, named the new wolf Badru, and made up a story about what had happened. To me, they're the same pet.

I really wish I could tame a hydra, or an ooze. Even more than I want a spirit wolf. Am I gonna be uspet if they put them back in? Absolutly not. Would I be peeved if I'd gotten them before? Nope.

I have a crapload of alts, and I know a lot of people who play WoW. And them (and myself) being able to get retired pets would mean the world to me.

Do I think they should be common? For the most part, no. Some of them I wouldn't really mind being common, but a lot of them I would. I mean, my hyena was "rare", but they were a dime a dozen in Tanaris.

Basically, I think that Blizz putting these guys in more, instead of just taking them away from us, is a great thing.

Now lets just get them to give me that ooze and that hydra...

Slickrock wrote:Well, as my final rambling for the night to spin this in yet another direction... (but I would like to hear from some others that take a real look at what they have in their stables..)

1) How will the supposed "balancing" of pet dps effect your pet selections? (For the sake of discussion, we'll say that all Ferocity are equal, all cunning are equal, and all tenacity are equal, so you have raiding/instancing pets, pvp pets, and soloing/tanking pets, and all in each tree are equal).
It won't effect mine at all - as I've never considered it. I 10 man raid, I 25 man raid, I have bene known to PVP (more seriously back in BC when we were more into areanaing) but I never picked a pet because it was the best for what it was doing, I picked it because it had the skin/type I wanted.

I got my worg when I was level 23 (darkshore, whatever the low 20s were for hte black worg). First pet I ever really fell in love with the moment I saw it. UP until then I had been leveling in NE land and I don't really care for cats. But as soon as I saw that black wolf it was exactly what I wanted (and have always loved). There were certianly no thoughts of raiding back then (2 months after release and me a noob MMORPGer), there were no talent trees for pets, and I had no clue other than cats were dps, armored pets were tanks, and wolves were the balance. I raided with that worg through the first 40 mans, MC, AQ20 -then - Karazahn, Sunwell, and beyond. I never raided with any other of my pets because my Darsha was my favorite and he was always at my side (Lord Darsha - anyone else recognize the name and how awesomely appropriate it was? LOL).

When I PVPed for ranking and points - I pvped with a white owl named Jerith (again - get stars for name recognition on that one too!). As soon as I stepped foot in the snow covered mountains of Winterspring it not only became my favorite area for its looks but I knew I had to have a white owl. For its name must be Jerith. I used him in PVP because I figured he was the most annoying of all my pets for hte opposite side due to his wings  Not because was any type of awesomeo pvp pet (cuz he wasn't just a bird of prey).

I've never cared for the cats in game until I saw Gondria. PURPLE! And Ghosty! Being my favorite color (the color of my character and her hair) I went and tamed her. Wouldn't matter if it was a dime a dozen purple cat that I saw at level 10 or as hard to catch as that Time Proto-drake - I knew I must have her. I have her. Same with Zzot, my Skoll. What? A ELECTRIC WORGY??ZOMG MUST HAVE! Rare spawn matters not, I loves him!
2) How will the expanded stables change your choices? (You can't really have attachments to all of them...)
Maybe *you* can't. I certainly can! The first thing I'm doing is going back and retaming all those pets I've had to give up over the years because expansions came and I had to make room for new irristable pets (though the black worg only made room for the spirit ghost wolf who now has his same name). Every one of those pets I wanted to cry when I /dismissed and I rejoice for now I can have them all back in my stables! YEAA!!!!

I only tame pets I immediately develop a connection to. As an animal lover and especially a dog lover, most of mine have ended up being canines of some sort (yes I've had 3 and 4 wolf family members at once in my stables lol). There have been several skins in NR I really wished I could tame but I didnt only because I had a stronger desire to keep what I have. Not because I didn't feel "zomg squee love love love" as soon as I saw them, but because giving up what I had to make room was harder.

But now I can get those too! YEAA!! And I will bring them all out as regularly as I can (they all have to be leveled up after all lol). I may, or may not, fill those 20+5 slots up. That's not what's important to me. I know none of them will be because its what my raid needs; they are only there because they are what *I* need.

Its the only reason why I'm a hunter. And WoW beast taming has spoiled me for every other pet class in every other game!

Vephriel wrote: Take Gezzarak for example. It's almost a physical heartache whenever I think of how narrowly I missed getting her. I know people who have her now are proud to own a retired pet, but feeling the regret I do over it I could never subject others to that kind of pain. I don't necessarily want them to put a whole herd of purple warpstalkers somewhere in the game, but just making Gezzarak herself tameable again would be fine. She'd still be tricky to get, and not everyone would go out of their way to complete that quest chain to summon her. She'd still be uncommon, but at least others would have a chance at her.
LOL! I still regret missing this tame by *weeks*. And I still have all the haste potions in my bank and have bought a few other things that would help for the hope that one day, just maybe one day, she'll become tameable again (with as you say the same process)! I would go get her immediately!

Never give up the hope! (dragons are my favorite creatures, warpstalkers being closest to that in game right now that we can tame and purple being my favorite color...)

Confirmed the Araga skin. I saw two north of Camp Taurajo near a new Horde quest hub. They are called Plains Prowler, and were level 32 and level 33.

Im actually quite miffed about it. I had alot of heart break while trying to get Araga, including accidently killing her with my paladins aura (lol), and watching as a shaman just killed her right in front of me. To me I enjoy getting unique rare pets just for the thrill of it. Mostly rare pets just because I enjoy the hunt and I think because of that I have a strong bond with the pets I have. It's sad that they are taking out the last unique skinned cat out there, they did the same with Humar by adding pitch and Rak shiri still has Shy-rotam who is much easier to tame then her mate who never seems to spawn anymore. Araga always gets confused with Broken Tooth, and I was quite proud of my Teeka with her long ass spawn rate and tame. I think it is much more rewarding when its something you search for and its the only one of its kind.
Ive never actually seen anyone in my server have Araga so I am sad that her beautiful skin will just be common.

Lets hope they dont do that with all the skins, having Aotona, Old cliff Jumper, and King krush commons out there would make me really sad indeed. I really like the unique rares since its a triumph to tame them and know who it is. You see a grey wolf out there, your first reaction is oh hey you tamed old cliff jumper!

I also have bonds with common skins as well, but I dont sit well with the thought that we may no longer have any unique skinned cats come Cata. Lets hope it hasnt happened with all the other unique skinned rares like Aotona, King Krush, OCJ, clutchmother (I hope they find her)
otherwise id be a sad panda indeed.

Come Cata, I'm retaming Teremus, my first pet...a grey Stigrid Screecher owl.

It doesn't bother me. I don't have Araga, but I wouldn't mind if they make, for instance, OCJ or Nuramoc (both of whom I have) more common.

Did someone even see the look off araga in the beta? Its possibel that he got his old look back(stipes on his tail).
If thats happens people that have tamed araga dont need to worry about plains prowler.

I don't think Araga has been spotted yet, but I highly doubt the tail stripes would return. They were a graphical glitch apparently and weren't intentional.

Good discussion here, unfortunately tainted by personal attacks. I'm locking this thread because I don't want new people wandering in wanting news on Araga, hitting the first couple of pages, and thinking we're a bunch of savages.

Feel free to start a new thread with Araga news and screenshots of the Plains Prowlers. Just don't get personal.
