Faulty hyna skin on petopia?

On petopia you can see 6 hyna skinshttp://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... hyena.html
But if i look on wowhead there are 7 skins http://www.wowhead.com/pet=25

It seems http://www.wowhead.com/npc=5426#. is a little bit darker then the others hyena's like http://www.wowhead.com/npc=4316#.

Hmm, I just pulled up the 3D model of each of those and put them side by side....and.....you're right. o_o It's so minimal but one is the tiniest, slightest, minimal bit darker than the other. Hardly enough to even call different, but it's there.

Wow...go figure your right...it is darker... Maybe that should be fixed on petopia with a note that its darker? Thats weird I've never even noticed that...

It... It seems a bit... It looks like a shading error to me, like with the final boss of BFD, who now glows. This could very well be a recent change.

It's actually in the WoW model viewer as a completely separate entry in colour. I can't believe I never noticed it before. xD

I wonder if it would even be worth listing as a separate skin. I suppose a footnote perhaps mentioning the slight variation, but in all honesty they're practically identical. Especially when you consider in-game lighting effects...no one would be able to tell a difference I'm sure. xD

Its possible if someone used a program like photoshop to delete the background from the image and isolate the pet that they did something called auto levels which adjusts the colors to enhance the image. Something like that could explain it or if whomever did it had certain presets on their program,but its really hard to say for sure.

Actually, in-game it would be easier to tell the difference, because with the shading, the colours will in most situations be darker.

The easiest way to tell the difference (i think) is the little mohawk-y fur on the back of his neck.

On of them has dark brown fur, the other has light brownish orange fur.

that's just my two cents though ;c

The manes on their backs are definitely the easiest place to notice the differences that I can see. That's neat.

That's up to Mania entirely.

I'd say overall it's not urgent as it's not exactly a distinct or noticeable variance.

I'd like to list it. I list both orange dragonhawks ... and anyway I'm something of a stickler for pets.

Unfortunately any live changes will have to wait until I finish fixing the backend -- I have the SQL guts spread out everywhere in the office right now. But I have this thread bookmarked to remind me as soon as I can update again.

They ARE different! :O Barely, but still. Here's a (slow-moving) animation to show the difference. Sorry they don't line up perfectly. This is from ModelViewer with the same lighting for both; I think the 'noticeable' differences are down to lighting in-game.

Could you do a side by side image, say head and neck of the HyenaSkin, and from the shoulder back of the HyenaOrangeSkin? Just having trouble seeing the difference.

I posted about it over at http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2499 awhile ago but i dont think anyone listened to me XD. There is only one type of hyena using this skin; the blisterpaw hyena, which is located in tanaris. I tamed my little Hayabusa awhile ago out of fear that his skin would disappear in Cataclysm. His color does look a bit brighter ingame than the other, similar colored skin.
