Great...just god damn great....After about 13+ hours of wandering the Basin, seeing two different Aotona's, slightly gaining hope with each one...My mom's hunter spots Krush, the giant green beyatch, under the Glimmering Pillar at exactly 12:12 AM real time.... I rush over, quick as I can, and JUST as I fking land, a stupid stupid troll kills him right out from underneath me..
Just great..I never want to see this stupid basin again..ever.

I'm so sorry. I understand how you feel. I had a DK kill him on me, though I understood since we were playing aggro game between a warlock who thought I was honestly trying to kill it, my pally friend, and myself. Then a hunter did kill him, right underneath me, as I was trying to tame. All indications showed I was taming. Then a pally nabbed Krush, and then a mage tried to get him, but fell back, another hunter tried for him and died miserably, and a pally even backed off and buffed me, not to mention my hunter friend, Stere, (who switched horde. ;_;) kept mobs off me.
There are jerks out there, but there are decent people too. DO NOT give up, he WILL be yours. He's testing you, wanting to ensure the person he's siding with is persistent and powerful. Don't give up, it's what he wants you to do. :3

Now to answer your question, yes a free action potion will work against fear. I have read others who have used the same method, and managed to tame him. As well I tried to tame him using a free action potion, but was not able to. But that was due to not having enough health and getting to excited. However, I did not use BW or had a pet with me at the time, but during the 10 sec I was alive I was not feared once. Even though everyone says he can't be solo tamed or you need use BW it not true. The two most important things you need are lots of health and haste, since he hits hard and the free action potion last 30sec. Hope this will finally answer your question.

I tamed Krush a few days ago and it wasn't that bad, but I had my husband on his priest to help :\. I just skimmed the thread so I'm not sure if you found this or not but I used Garwulf's guide and it helped me a lot. I changed my off spec to the BM/surivial spec listed there and only had a Elixer of lighting speed and a few scrolls of stam.
I got to tame him on my second day of hunting, found him on my first day around the same time but wasn't anywhere near ready to tame him and lost him to a rogue. Took me about 6 tires to solo tame but I wasn't fast enough with BW, so I dragged my husband onto his priest and finally got it when he forgot to cast fear ward on me before BW was up and used it after I was feared.
To be honest I don't think its possible to solo tame anymore without a crapton of haste/stam but I've been surprised before hehe.
Good luck with it and don't give up, you'll get him.
