Yeah, Aang technically DID die when he got hit by Azula, so that probably didn't help him any. Also if you want to be REALLY technical he'd have been 166...but I digress.

And it's not just Avatars that last a long time. Aang met Bumi, his friend from 100 years ago, still alive. That means Bumi was NATURALLY at least 112!

Eh, maybe not, but it's food for thought. The died in battle/assassination works out well too. I hope we'll find out how during the series.
Just found this little bit:
"Another downside to the Avatar State is the considerable mental strain it can cause to less experienced Avatars and the long-term effects that its repeated use can cause in more experienced Avatars. Prior to his tutelage under the guru Pathik, Aang would often leave the Avatar State feeling horrified at what he'd done under its influence. Further the use of the state, at least in extraordinary circumstances, can place such a large physical strain on an Avatar's body that their life-span can be affected as the series creators have stated that Aang's 100 years in the iceberg contributes greatly to his eventual death in his early (physical) 60s."

No problem. *Bows*
It just popped up in a "sequels you want to see" thread in another forum I frequent. A discussion popped up regarding Avatar 2, and someone dug that up somewhere. Thought you might be interested.

That makes sense, and is certainly less of a stretch than my theories. Nice find :D

They nearlly killed this show for me. Avatar is one of my favorite shows and it was almost killed, I guess I just mostly can't believe that M. Night did this. He usually makes really good movie [i.e. the Village, Lady in the Water, the 6th Sense] but this one...I mostly can't beileve he didn't stick to the story. Of all the guys I exspect to destroy a book or an old film remake M. Night was near the bottom of the list. Although many people complained that the actors did not match the characters the casting was good...I just hated who played fire lord Ozai. I think he did a fine job acting and so did the boy who played Zuko they just looked nothing like them. For some reason I think Jason Isaacs would have played a good fire lord while Zuko should have been played by someone like the kid who orignially voiced him in the show, Dante Basco. *sigh* but it was butchered instead...

Wow, you give him a lot more credit than 99% of people do. Not saying you're wrong for liking those movies, but I think it's the general consensus that The Sixth Sense was a fluke, and the rest of them have been getting progressively worse.

Regardless, this movie was terrible and movie theaters should be paying YOU to watch it.

Oh and as far as the casting goes, a person can look like the character all they want, but it's the acting and the personalities and the synergy that makes them believable to me. It's a bonus if they can make them look similar to the source, too, but the acting is the most important thing. So yeah, those people resembled their characters, but their personalities were way, way off.

le sigh.
