White Worgs

Unread post by Acherontia »

Edit: This is a PLEA for Beta Testers. PLEASE keep an eye out for Lupos and Death Howl, and see if they remain -brown coyotes-. If they change, PLEASE let us know :)

So, Timber seems to be gone, Lupos and Death Howl are both turning into brown coyotes (wtf?)?

But Ghost Howl is tameable on beta, right? Where else can white worgs be found in beta? This is my -favorite- skin in game, but I currently don't have the space for it. I'd hate to lose it before Cata comes out, and I can't figure out what's up with Blizz changing them around. They still exist in AV, right? Aside from Ghost Howl, those are apparently going to be the only ones left?

If it's even REMOTELY in doubt, I'm exchanging my Soriid for one asap. Any word?

It's no good for Horde, though. At least Ghost Howl will be there.

I hadn't heard Death Howl was changing; can anyone confirm that?

The white wolvesa re tameable by horde too. They're aggressive to alliance and neutral to the horde.

Makes me glad I did the LONG corps run on my moo cow back when she was level 10 JUST to tame Timber. Hes be a faithful companion to her sense.

Has anyone scanned the area to see if maybe Timber has relocated elsewhere?

They are indeed tameable, but are they still there in Cata? Has anyone actually checked? It just seems to me almost like they're deliberately phasing them out : /

I still have to decide if I am going to keep my pet of five years, or go with the skin that I wanted and tamed. I love the white warg look.

I'll probably just clear off a slot and pick up Timber or an AV wolf before it hits.

I WOULD, but here's my current stable lol:

* King Krush (Valak)
* Skoll (Zodiac; server-first tame)
* Lord Lakmaeran (Talisman; raid boss, gone come Cata)
* Soriid (Tick; 'nuff said)
* Grunter (Demon; also 'nuff said)

I don't know who I'd ditch. It would NOT be one of the first three, and I'm really falling for Grunter, but I'm still sore over losing my worgen (RIP Raznos) and would love to have an unobtainable pet before it's made untameable.

But white worg is my in-game fave... Hopefully they're okay : / Being an orc and loving lore, I'd LOVE to grab Ghost Howl once he's tameable. His backstory (fighting the Burning Legion, was it?) was amazing.

OH wait. What if... Bear with me on this.

WHAT IF the brown coyotes that Death Howl & Lupos are turning into are just placeholders for a new, ghostly wolf? I don't see WHY they'd do this, but it'd be quite cool...

I had that same thought, Acherontia. ;)
Keeping my fingers crossed. My dwarf won't "lose" her's, since her's is Timber. So, I have the freedom to just be curious instead of sad my worg will turn into a coyote.

It's going to happen. It's already been stated repeatedly in other threads and from past experiences, if the mob skin is changed in the wild, the mob you have tamed, is changed too.

Edit: Btw anyone with a tame timber and access to the beta, able to skip their hunter over long enough to test if Timber is unchanged too? Just because he's MIA or taken out doesn't mean his skin might not be affected too :/

Maybe it's just me but I find it rather odd that Blizzard would phase out so many rare beast models and replace them with a common skin like the brown coyote model. I currently have Death Howl on my Draenei huntress and I am rather peeved at the idea of having to go into AV just so that Lyra can keep her beautiful silvery blue coat!

Beast skins being phased out in Cataclysm but replaced by replicas elsewhere ... fine.
Beast skins being relocated to other parts of the world ... fine.
Beast skins being phased out almost to the brink of ultimate extinction ... not fine.
Bad Blizzard ... bad, bad, bad Blizzard!

Well, I would ask that the beta testers that look at Petopia now & then keep an eye out for Lupos and Death Howl. Perhaps as we get closer to release, we'll find that they get changed to another, perhaps newer and/or ghostlier, skin.

It happens to be the two -rare white worgs in ghostly areas- that are being changed to this common skin currently. Perhaps they'll become shaman-like ghost wolves, or spirit wolves, or something other. I'd be surprised, and disappointed, if they stayed plain & brown. I have my Death Howl back and would hate to see it turn into the brown coyote!
