My male Orc hunter on the beta is unplayable. =*(

It seems that anyone with a male Orc Hunter (premade) on the beta cannot log onto the character because it causes the character select screen to freeze.

What stinks is my actual L.80 hunter is also a male Orc Hunter too... so I am stuck.

I had a premade NE hunter too, but I deleted her to make a Troll Druid to mess with...

...and to top it all off... the Character Copy page is down at the moment...

You are not supposed to play content nobody has seen yet. With signing in for beta you have agreed to help troubleshoot and improve the next expansion.
Instead of complaining about a bug, you should report it and go on with some other character.

I agree with this but I'm not sure it directly relates to the OP's situation. Hopefully the OP reported these bugs to Blizzard, as that is the job of all beta testers.
But yes, Beta is not an opportunity to play the game first before your peers, it is to help Blizzard collect data on what is and is not working, to consider recommendations, to tweak the game into a more playable format, it certainly isn't a lottery for the benefit of allowing players to play before everyone else. The beta is work.

Well said. Sadly, the attitude amongst many of the beta testers is just the opposite. They seem to think that Blizzard have considered them worthy of playing the expansion before anyone else. Heck, some guy said straight out that he hadn't reported a single thing, because that's not what the beta is about. Oh really? Then what is it about? (Not directed at anyone here)

The beta is there so that Blizz can have people testing the game without spending a fortune, not to give some people "free fun". If you get into the beta, and decide to play it, then it's your duty to help Blizz fix it. Not to play around.

That said, beta can still be fun, and you should try to enjoy it, but it's also a responibility. It's work.

There's a reason I didn't sign up for the beta, I want to play the "finished" product, not rummage through it in a constantly changing state of broken content, NYI features, and so on and so forth. I've done beta testing on game and it can be fun but it can also be a huge pain for no pay. Beta tests are all about reporting everything, trying to break things, keeping a sharp eye out for calculations and mechanics malfunctioning and all that stuff. You are not in beta as a prize you are there to help Blizzard crunch a lot of data that they just do not have the time nor resources to do themselves.

I'm reporting stuff left and right. *LAUGHS* If somethings broke, I'm telling them. Also, premade gnome warriors are broken for some reason as well. Odd, but it is beta. A lot of it's going to be busted.

I originally posted this to see if anyone else was having the same problem, because at the time this issue wasn't very widespread.

The bug is still there. It has been reported by me and many others. Male Orc Hunters aren't the only characters having issues with the character select freezing and not being able to test the game unless you log into a different character.

I apologize if my original post sounded like I was complaining. I was not complaining in the same way that I think you were thinking I was...

I also know that most people are "testing" the beta with a character they feel comfortable with, so when that certain character can't login they might feel like they can't properly "test" the beta.

Even though it is indeed a beta it is still a game, and no matter how you want to sugar coat it... you are still playing a game BUT you are also trying to make the game better by either searching out weird things that will cause it to crash, or doing your "test" by playing the beta like you would the live game. Either way you will find bugs and you should always report them.

I am not going to generalize and say that the people who say "This is a test... a beta... you shouldn't be complaining about it" are the people that either aren't in the beta, OR they are in the beta and have not found any game-breaking bugs (they should look harder).

I have been in countless betas and I am sure I will be in many more so I know how it works. I have no problem in not playing a character if it is stuck, but I am going to try and find out why and how it happened by asking others if they have the same problem.

With each beta invite stage more and more new testers show up and with the influx of new people the degradation of the official beta forums (and trade chat) keeps getting worse. There can be one post about a certain quest being broken, and the thread can even be a STICKY and people won't bother to read it... they will just go about making 50 more threads about the same quest being broken.

To sum up what I actually meant in my original post... "My premade hunter freezes my character select screen and he can not even be deleted. I wanted to do stuff (test, if you like) with that character. I wanted to test the beta with a high level hunter, but not really a Night Elf. I only had three choices...
One, Copy my 80 Orc hunter over and test the beta with him, but I could not copy him at the time and even if I did I couldn't login with him because he would freeze too.
Second, use a premade 80 hunter... two choices: Orc or Night Elf... Orc freezes game, Night Elf was deleted to make room for a lower level Troll.
Third, bite the bullet and just copy over my 71 Female Draenai Hunter and wander around finding stuff to use Beast Lore on and do some of the lower level testing of zones."
(btw... I was trying to be tongue-in-cheek for my OP... you can even see that with the whole "/endblog" thing. It's hard to show sarcasm with text and no emoticons)

Everyone who gets a beta invite tests the game differently... Some call it fun. Some call it work. If you are not having fun testing betas then you should never sign up for another beta again.

I have yet to see anyone on these forums who is in the beta talk about how they are better in any way than the people who aren't in it... or even any, "Nyah Nyah, I am in the beta and you are not!" threads. Most of us in the forums with beta access are posting here for one reason... well at least I am.... I want to share my experiences as a hunter with other people who play hunters. I am here to test out things for people. I am here to try and tame that one specific beast everyone wants to know about. I am here talking about the beta for many other reasons that relates to being a hunter player, but I am in the beta to play the beta and tell Blizzard what I think about each quest, and what bugs I find along the way (if any).

I am sure there is more I could say, but I see no point in saying anymore. If you think I am a whiner or a complainer and I shouldn't be in the beta then oh well.... I will still try and continue to bring this community items of interest from the beta when I can.

And FYI, I've done lots of betas. I usually have fun, but I still do the beta-"work". I meant the people who say "FFS beta sucks its not fun!". I'm happy you're in the beta, that wasn't what I meant. I'd love an invite too, but I can get by without one.

No, not even a ETA on a fix, or even a blue response about it yet. I am not too worried about it right now... I just can't test 80+ content with a hunter . I might try to just delete the premade rogue I made and remake the NE premade hunter, but I am busy doing lower level content (and camping Grunter on my live 71 character) right now anyways. (unless a new hunter question arises that I might be able to do on my 71)
