That could be just a remaining bug from making the current NPCs untameable. Or maybe they weren't meant to be un-tameable in the beta. Could be many things.

OK, I finally tamed Grunter last night on live. Didn't really lose a pet to get him... I only had a white Wind Serpent.

So on my live 71 Draenai hunter I now have Soriid and Grunter.

I am going to go see if I can find Haaraka to tame before I do a Character Copy and see if anything has changed.

I need more hunters, IMO.

Rawr if you visit Wowhead for a rare spawn you should be able to find it's ID number in the address field. Get into the game on the character you want to search with and add the number you find there to the scan (Options->Interface->AddOns tab->NPCScan dropdown->Search) The field you enter the info into is at the bottom of the page. Add the number, name and world. Remember to click the little + symbol when you are done adding the information so it can save. I've found (and it kinda bummed me out) that it WILL NOT be carried over to your other toons. If you have another hunter that searches for old world rares then you need to add the ID number on them as well.

Edit: I found mine down below inside the main tunnels. If you use cords then remember he will be below you. The scan will go off if you are outside above him.

This may make people smile:
In the Haarka Screenshot it is listed "cannot be tamed" becuse Haarkar is level 47 and the hunter in the picture is only 45 :D

Nope. It still says Tameable, even if the hunter is too low level.

i doubt they would go back on their model changes based on hunter taming them
plus the databases are very glitchy when information is still being moved around and such in beta

In the WoWhead-Cataclysm listing for Soriid, his model is back to plain pink silithid, Haarka's is still a silithid tank.
Did they change him back or is it just laggy, do you think?

I knew it was way to soon to start betting on anything. I really like me Soriid though so even if it doesn't change it probably won't be going anywhere. I may have to tame Haarka though just so I can use the name I thought up.

Just thought about something when it comes to the "Cannot Be Tamed" ;abel for the beta versions of the rare silithids. Since they are silithids, and silithids require Beast mastery to tame them, there should be a note there stationg that Beast mastery is required to tame them, if they were tamable that is. Even though there is a diet there, this little tidbit kind makes me blieve they won;t be tamable in cata. But it is still waaaay to early to tell... so let's keep our fingers crossed.
