Re: Worgan story question?
The whole idea was that worgen were fighting an enemy with 'green fire.' The night elf (I forget her name) used the Scythe to bring them to this world to fight the Burning Legion iirc, and there was some speculation that the reason they were eager to fight for her, at first, is because it was the -same- enemy they were already fighting on -their- world. Then, of course, control of them was lost, and they spread. Pyrewood, I assume, was cursed by being bitten by these.
What I'd originally read about Cataclysm was that Gilneas's people were cursed/bitten, and once infected, due to their being penned up in one city alone, the curse just spread like wildfire. And that when the Alliance finds out, they vow not to repeat the Forsaken mistake, and send Night Elf Druids to help them control the shifting, or something.
So now, instead, they're saying "Oh no, the people in Gilneas were actually wolf-form druids stuck in their forms"? Is this official? Because the stuff I'd read before, well it could make sense. But this sounds like a load of BS (not calling this entire thread a liar, saying the retconning ITSELF is bs >.<).
On a related note, I'm still utterly peeved as it is that werewolves are an Alliance race. Overall, Alliance outnumbers Horde across all realms by quite a chunk (obviously individual realms might have Horde populations larger in places). Horde = big, evil, furry. I don't believe in homogenizing the two sides, or why have sides at all? Horde SHOULD be the noble monsters. Alliance SHOULD be the righteous hypocrites. That, and I absolutely love wolves and have -always- played Horde--first, because of Ghost Wolf (didn't have TBC, so no draenei!). Not happy that I'll need to reroll faction
P.S. I freaking hope they fix female worgen before release. Trying to make them look like slutty supermodels instead of strong "bitches" just doesn't work imo. Eyeshadow ftl...

Re: Worgan story question?
have to agree on that, the alliance by nature tend to fear monster looking types. they should be all running scared of these big bad cursed wolf people. yes they be able to look human part of the time, but they are still just monsters in hiding really aren't they
that gives me an idea for a new thread...

Re: Worgan story question?
They have all ready stated WHY the worgen are alliance and I'll say right now there is zero and I mean zero evidence that they'd ever be horde. For one forsaken are ravaging their city and 2. They one of the greatest human capitals EVER and 3. The night elfs have strong ties to them. The horde now have their "small" people race and we have a civilized monster all there is to it.

Re: Worgan story question?
SPOILER WARNING. If you don't want to know about what's going on in Gilneas, don't read any further.
Gilneas starts off in a battle against the worgen, and it's a very grim looking war that's going on. The worgen are overtaking the city at a fair rate, and there are some pretty last ditch efforts going on. During this, your character manages to get bitten by a freshly turned worgen, infecting you. The fighting in city continues until you and several other Gilneans decide to have work as a distraction while the rest of the citizens and the royals escape. During this time, you, and the other last standers, finally succumb to the infection.
Skip ahead three years? Can't remember that for sure, but I think thats it. Your wild worgen form has been captured, and the royal alchemist force fed you a temporary cure. The worgen threat has pretty much been abated. You regain consciousness and set about trying to get back into a normal life. Except that on your first quest, you discover an undead scout. Now the Forsaken are attacking Gilneas. The remainder of the quests are fighting from, and trying to escape from the Forsaken as they try to take over Gilneas. It's during this time that you encounter the whole asspull of the Goldrinn druids and what have you. Anyway, this culminates in the battle for Gilneas, wherein you try to retake the capital from the Forsaken. The fight goes well, but before they can finish off Sylvanas, she attempts to kill the king. The prince jumps in the way and ends up dying instead, and this REALLY pisses off the Gilneans.
At this point, you get sent on a stealth mission to find out what the undead are up to. You overhear an orcish relay talking to Sylvanas about the problems they are having, and making sure to point out that she is to NOT use the plague. She says she's destroyed it. She is lying, of course, and gives the orders to deploy the plague against the Gilneans. Cue the flight from the city, and from the kingdom.
That's the long and short of it.
