For that matter, are the purple spiders in the cave in Storm Peaks (same skin) tameable yet?Ebonrook wrote:I do wonder if the Dread Creeper (purple spider in Naxxramas) is tameable finally. On the spreadsheet it's marked at "no", but I kinda get this feeling it hasn't been checked yet? Last I looked it was still flagged as 'tameable' via beast lore in the current game.

I can check when the character copy finally starts working, currently am stuck with a level 10 Goblin Hunter with a monkey...
I can confirm, though, that Pterrodaxs are not tameable :c

In the Worgen starting zone there is a tameable Black Widow Spider model. Just come across some tameable turtles in the Goblin Area, no new models

No silithid wasps yet, sadly.
My goblin hunter snagged an outlands-style raptor out of the starting area. It's lovingly referred to as my 'rainbow raptor' because he changes color every time he loads up, between like four color options~ *hart*
Now if only I could find something to feed him...

... Emerald Spirit - Level 26 - Ruins of Eldre'thar in Stonetalon
It would have been helpful to know where the Ruins of Eldre'thar are.. they don't appear on the map, and in the 5+ years I've played, I've pretty much managed to avoid Stonetalon except on the very first character I ever made... I asked on /beta and /alpha and trade and no one else knew where that was; that was a decent indication that most people don't know where it is. I looked for unnamed ruins on the map, no good. I finally found it when I covered every single area on the map that had a single building, lol.
No addons in beta, but a general indication, in the mid-south part of the map, would have saved me a couple of hours of frustration. That said, once tamed, it sits... very still, on the ground. If they don't fix that it will be somewhat eerie. I don't want it to flap huge wings in my face, but the completely still, no breathing form of it isn't nearly as pleasing as its aspect and color in flight.
There is a bug for beta testers now, Ferocity pets that aren't new to Cata are bugged at 5k health - I was looking for a pet that was different and attractive. I have this one now, but the stillness, sitting on the ground not breathing, not a feather stirring, isn't appealing. I hope they fix it - I'll suggest it; it's a bird of prey, ideally it - and for that matter - no pet should sit still as a statue on the ground without ANY movement at all.
Not as excited about the pet now as I was when I found it - YAY, THERE IT IS!!! and now there it sits :(

Now what would be really cool would be if the birds sat on your shoulder... but I'm dreaming of course - no way that would work with all the weird and wonderful armor models.I hope they fix it - I'll suggest it; it's a bird of prey, ideally it - and for that matter - no pet should sit still as a statue on the ground without ANY movement at all.

Cue new birds with an "acidic air strike" ability! ;-PYeah, but then we'd have to spend all our gold on armour cleaner.
Re: Jackpot! Tameable Pets Confirmed
Not really on the topic of tameable but the health glitch is annoying. In beta at the moment pets - and it was only Ferocity pets, but this morning it was my bear and bird and gorilla also - Tenacity, Cunning, Tenacity, got the bug, and one of the pets, the bird, is supposed to be "immune" from that bug since it's a Cata pet.
Of course, nothing to be done and no real complaints at all - Alpha and Beta are supposed to be work, fun work, but still work; we volunteer after all; to find bugs, to help determine if quests are good, fun, balanced, help shape it and test the new game - and in return we get to see the new content first. :)
So, no complaints, but 5k health on a level 82 pet... ouchies, hard to avoid a dead pet, lol.
And Emerald Spirit doesn't seem to sit on the ground anymore. Pets behave a bit strangely initially, they're "unknown" until they go into the stable and un-nameable, they swap names, all sort of fun. But it's worth it, and there is so much new fun stuff, it's definitely worth it.
But yes, Emerald Spirit doesn't sit on the ground anymore, and agreed, it would be incredible if he'd, she'd, sit on the hunter's shoulder or have an action where it returns to the Hunter's forearm, falcon style, I guess?

Re: Jackpot! Tameable Pets Confirmed
Actually, that's an awesome idea for all bird pets. (Having them sit on the hunter's forearm.) The levitating and hovering in mid air with no forward momentum has always irked me. Between Archimedes and Aotona, I've pretty much only used birds, and since level 10, I wish they'd have come up with something else.

That is a cool idea except it kind of precludes them from being large... and I likes me some large pets.FuzzyDolly wrote:Actually, that's an awesome idea for all bird pets. Also, since I didn't see a response to an earlier poster, the purple Naxx spiders ARE tamable at 81. Just difficult to get to.

Re: Jackpot! Tameable Pets Confirmed
And I'd rather them be actual size. Well, actual size for the game. I guess proportionate would be a better term. Birds should be bird size, dogs dog size, t-rexes trex size, etc...Worba wrote:That is a cool idea except it kind of precludes them from being large... and I likes me some large pets.FuzzyDolly wrote:Actually, that's an awesome idea for all bird pets. Re: Jackpot! Tameable Pets Confirmed
Has anyone in Beta managed to solve the issue with the 5k health bug? It was supposed to be Ferocity pets only, but now it's affecting Tenacity and Cunning as well.
I tame a new pet, not a Ferocity, a Bear or Bird to cover the other two categories, and a Gorilla, whatever I could find that wasn't Ferocity without running around for hours - they would start with normal health, but as soon as I flew and they disappeared and then came back when I landed, it was back to the 5k bug (5k is approximate, 5200-6300k or so at level 81/82).
Is there a forum here or at Mania's Arcana for Cataclysm related pet issues - not the confirmation of cool pets and new pets but bugs and other hunter related issues?
I looked around a bit but (sorry, TMI here) I just got out of hospital and while I'm usually extremely independent in finding resources, I'm still under the weather and at half energy.
Thank you.
Oh, yes - I forgot to mention this last time - if anyone wants anything about a new pet confirmed, please feel free to ask here or to send me a PM, I'm more than happy to go and verify. I don't have hours and hours to do it, but I'd be more than happy to contribute some time verifying; after all, I've gotten a great deal of information over the past 5+ years from various sources, and while I don't remember when Petopia started, I do know that it has been my number one go to source for all things pet related, and the source that I've always given to new hunters or to hunters who were a bit confused and needed to understand.
For one, I have to admit that I liked the old style - put your pet in the stable, go tame pet X, learn a skill then teach it to your main pet or pets. I know that made it harder, but... it wasn't THAT hard, and with everything becoming easier, it seems that the wrong things are becoming easy; no more rites of passage - no first aid quest, no cooking quest, no mount quests for the classes that get free mounts, no "you have to go and get the skills" for hunters. Emphasis on GS not SkillScore™ and on how high your purple pixels are - not if they're the best for your class or build. GDKP rules the day rather than guild progression and passing on an item so that both Shaman or hunter or healers will be equally geared (assuming both go to raids and both put forth some effort - I'm not suggesting that people be given a free ride, the opposite) - but also understanding that raiding should be fun, and not a second job is important. But when raiding, do it right - leveling should be the same way; fun and not a grind or a rush through or a second job, fun and require a bit of brain power; too much now doesn't, if we're going to game, let's game intelligently, and have fun at the same time.
/end mini-rant ;)

The only way I've been able to keep my pets unbugged so far is to keep them untalented. So far, my Wolf, Bear and Spirit Beast are just fine. I did try to just simply spec dash, but again, the heath on my wolf bugged. So far she's kept her 17k while I kept her untalented. There are still some pets that are bugged regardless (Like Cats), but so far, keeping them untalented seems to work just fine. They're keeping agro very well too.
NEW SIGNATURE PENDING... SOON.
