A bit of news if you haven't heard.....Robert Jordan has died. One of his relatives is finishing the series similarly to how Tolkien's son did.

Also a good read is "The Physical Principles of the Quamtum Theory" by Werner Heisenberg.

I have actually just finished the book "Bad Monkies" It's actually a very good book.

It's about an assasin that is being interviewed by a doctor and the flashbacks on how she became an assasin.

I'm currently reading "Snabba Cash" by Jens Lapidus. It's about a bunch of lowlifes, and it's really quite good.

"The Stand - Extended Version" by Stephen King. So far so good, current on 1:3 if I understand the chapter system correctly. :D

Well, around 3 weeks ago I went on holiday with my family. And on holiday the main thing I do is swim and would do little reading. But this time I done loads of reading and little swimming. At the part of the airport where you buy stuff before you enter the plane I was looking at the fantasy books and saw Karen Miller and every book was on offer "4 for 3" and it there were four of her books there. Two from the Kingmaker and two from the Godspeaker series.

I started with the Kingbreaker series (The books are The Innocent Mage and The Awakened Mage) and by the end of the week in Spain, I had read the first book and was already well over halfway through the second book. And both these books are 650 pages +. And wow, Kingbreaker is an amazing series! It's a two book series and the ending of the final book... The first book that's actually made me cry! I've read alot of books in my life, and at the end of alot of the series to those books, it's been emotional but those emotions never really peaked or revealed themselves physically. So yeah, good series and i'm really hoping Empress the book of the Godspeaker series is as good as the books from Kingbreaker!

I love Kingmaker, Kingbreaker :D It was a very good two-parter. The Godspeaker series was a little dryer in my opinion, though I did like the worldbuilding there. Very interesting.

Eye of the World is probably my favorite book in the series XD Be sure to use the wiki for the rest of the books! The plot splits into about a million mini-plots after a while. You'll probably need it. XP

A couple of years ago, but yes. I'm looking forward to this December though, that's the next installment of the "Twelth" book. Twelve-part-two, as it were.

Joe Abercrombies "The First Law" series, now in book 2, "Before They are Hanged" again
and Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle's "Footfall".

I am necro-ing this thread! (Why does that phrase make me blush?)
*cough*

Anyway, I think I mentioned that I started a website just to track the books I am reading. (DarkUrbanFantasy.com) I posted a link to the site on the front page of Petopia and a couple people have e-mailed me about it. What I absolutely love is that two of those people are authors. Yes, we have published authors!

Anyway, next up on my list: State of Decay

Antonia Fraser's "Love and Louis XIV". I love history books, especially when written in such an informative, entertaining, and occasionally anecdotal way. Really enjoyable read this!

Ooh, another Tepper fan! I'll get on a kick and read everything I own of hers back to back, then get annoyed at some of the political undertones and not read her again for a year. But I really do enjoy her books. My absolute favorite has got to be Grass, though. (And after that the others in that series.)

Just finished re-reading The Court of the Air, Stephen Hunt (have also read the sequel Kingdom Beyond the Waves). Fun, magical steampunk adventure, recommended.

In the middle of reading The Midnight Mayor, Kate Griffin, which is the sequel to A Madness of Angels. Urban fantasy set in London, without elves, vampires or werewolves. Imaginative magic system, recommended.

Also will be reading Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld this month. Young adult steampunk with biotech set during world war I by the author of The Uglies.

I enjoyed the sequel much more than the first book I must say. The characters felt more fleshed out, and their motives more believable. Not that I regret reading the first book, it just wasn't as good as I would've liked it to be! :)

To throw a suggestion into the thread even though I'm not currently reading it, I found Johnathan Strange & Mr Norell to be a somewhat peculiar, but rather good read. I can definitely recommend it!
