Oil-stained Wolf... and Cataclysm (beta).

OK, so I tried to do the Oil-stained wolf trick tame on beta this morning but I couldn't get the timing down since I don't have any sort of cooldown counter and watching the freeze-trap icon doesn't help as much as I need it to... as of right now add-ons aren't accessible/allowed on the beta (this is changing soon... very soon, maybe).

So I did the next best thing I thought I could do as a "test" in some form or another...

I transferred my 71 Draenai hunter over to beta again (yeah, again... I have done this about 4-5 times while testing out skins and whatnot ::curses Soriid and Haarka::) and since I had tamed the oil-stained wolf not too long ago on live with this hunter I was able to at least see if the oil-stain skin stays intact during the whole copy over (or WotLK to Cata, hopefully).

My findings are.... it still has its black oil-stained coat after the copy.

Not incredibly huge news, but I hope it answers at least a few people's questions/concerns about it.

Regarding the beta taming of the wolf... I am still having some problems with not being able to get the wolf to run far enough to hit the trap because of agro range, so the wolf disappears in the trap most of the time... and not being able to gauge the time like I need to is a huge hindrance for now. I had all of this trouble on my 71 alliance hunter on the liver servers too, but it only took me three times to snag it on my 80 horde hunter (with haste gear OFF) while dual-boxing on my 70 Draenai Shaman... Freezing Arrow makes a huge difference.

So I've been coming to this website for while now but never made an account or posted on here but my new love for this void wolf pet has allowed me the chance to contribute to all the great stuff I've found on this site.

I got to admit this took about 3 times as long as it did on my horde live toon just f or the fact I did it without trap launcher. Plus having the premade character with around 550 base haste I had to adjust and find the new timer on it(which depending on your trap position was inbetween the 5-6 second mark for me).

Reminds me of how everything came to look in EQ right before I quit, about a century ago (if you couldn't get the latest weekly activeX update installed everything went flat black). Good times, good times...

Ok, i am pretty sure I didnt do this quest on my shammy, but Iggy has no "!" for me...is there a hidden pre-req for this quest?

I noticed something here, the pic with the Night Elf, it does show the Oil Coat "buff", but you can actually see the Wolf's eyes (which are yellow) ~ This isnt the case if you look at the Troll with the Wolf on live... My oil wolf (on a live server) you could not see anything on his face, it was fully engulfed in black.

If Cata is like live then you have to do some of the quests at Valiance Keep first then get the quest that sends you to the air strip, do a few quests at the air strip then get the quest to go and talk to Iggy.

In that first picture they are targeting their wolf, which highlights it and shows those details. Notice in the second picture the wolf is not targetted, therefore it's pure black.

I think you're wrong... in the picture with the night elf, the wolf is targeted. When I target my oil wolf, he's not a "void" but rather shows as a very dark worg with yellow eyes and a constantly moving cloud of "oil" between his legs. - exactly like in the picture with the night elf.

When you select your pet he /she shows like that. You can actually see the oil dripping from him /her but has the normal gray worg look.

There is, but it's thankfully not too long. You'll need to do "Re-Cursive", then "Finding Pilot Tailspin", then lastly "A Little Bit of Spice". That should open up the Lupus Pupus
