Hi guys, first time i write here but i follow the forum and always stay tuned
I'm writing cause today i saw that video on youtube and i tried to follow what in the video..but..didn't work..i know the wolf is no longer tameable..but that video..posted only one week ago says Yes it is tameable..can you help me please? just a bit in confusion
Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEY-94qn9LY
My guess is it's from a private server. His gear also looks like TBC level gear (mainly judging by the weapon, it's really pixellated when I go full screen), although I did see an achievement pop up in guild chat.
Much gratitude to Spiritbinder for the signature and Vephriel for the avatar!<3
Hmm, that's odd. o.O It has to be a private server, I check on the Spirit Wolves whenever a patch hits. Are there any Spanish realms? The red text that appears at 1:51 reminds me of Spanish. Also unless it's an addon (which I doubt, seeing as their UI is completely unmodified), there's never an error message that long on live.
The weapon you talk of looks like the 2h Heirloom Axe to me.
One more reason it's fake: ALL the Spirit Wolves in that area only spawn when summoned by some of the mobs and die within seconds, there isn't a single one that would stand around like that.

This is exactly what I was thinking- I just did the quests over there a few days ago for Loremaster, none of the Wolves stood idle with the Grimtotems. Last time I saw them, after the fix, they were much smaller, like a combat pet or a level 1 wolf from a starter area.

Indeed. I just went there and tried a couple of things - feigning just as the Spirit Binder summoned the wolves, ran away so that the Binder would reset while the Spirit Wolves would still attack me. Always they would drop dead after 7 seconds, no matter what I did.

There was a comment thanking the poster of the video- if you ask me, they are trying to start a huge thing pretending these are tamable again.

Yeah, I think so.
I was thinking of the heirloom axe but dismissed it simply because of the haste needed (I assumed...). That wasn't a 20 second tame, was it? Seemed shorter to me, though I didn't explicitly check.

so you agree with me that he Must be on private server.. i aggroed the spirit shifter, and he summoned a little purple spirit wolf, obviously untamable. what a pity..this morning, when i saw the video i ran to the pc and travelled to dustwallow hoping it was true..and it wasn't
ahahah damn blizzard
at least i have my oil-stained wolf
I find this very hard to believe since they mad it UNTAMEABLE ages ago. Private sever yes, simply as the script and coding on them do not work also you can set it to a certain patch. Maybe in Cata they might allow a model like this to be tamed again but I doubt it ... Blizz isn't THAT nice.
A huge thanks to kamoodle5 for the amazing signature♥
I agree Kairii, apart from one small thing. I don't think it has to do with being nice - it's simply that this game is their product. It's their brainchild, their world, and they don't want things to go counter to the rules of that world. Sure, we can tame all kinds of odd beasts, but a spirit? That's supposed to be outside the hunters' abilities. Same reason we couldn't keep Garwal - we're not (within the WoW universe) able to control humanoids, and Garwal, in his worgen form, is a humanoid (regardless of our ability to skin him... which, gross!!! *tries to erase mental image*). For the same reason, I'm not so worried they'll take away our oily wolves.

I would like to see the ghost wolf be tameable again some day, private server or not. Maybe not exactly as a ghost wolf but maybe half and half between that and Skoll. I remember when I first started playing it was not long before they deemed the ghost wolf untameable. I never knew about it though; I was brand new to WoW.
And for someone that has had some experience in a private server, the spirit wolf would not be the only untameable creature that would be tameable there. I've actually tamed the red warp stalker without a problem, and even though this experiment was extremely bugged, I think it was possible for an alliance to tame Backbiter, the other indigo-purple warp stalker. The owner of the private server was actually surprised when I told him the red warp stalker I tamed was in fact untameable.
Um am I correct that a 'Ancient Grimtotem Spirit Guide" is the spirit wolf that horde spawns in Hellfire Peninsula in that murder mystery quest leading to the discovery of Thralls long lost "people" Unknowne-Elune
That spirit wolf is undoubtedly like the spirit wolf that spawns in Mulgore. They are not classified as a beast or an undead and I doubt even the alliance can touch them.
