Pet Aggro
Me and a friend hunter went to kill one of the world dragons, and her tank pet (warp stalker) seemed to be havin trouble keepin agro. (she's BM as well). I didn't think too much of it, but when I went to do a ZG run with my pet by myself, I almost kept pullin agro off my own pet...I usually don't get over 60% on him, but I kept gettin the yellow and orange flashes that I'm about to take complete agro.
Anyone else havin agro issues with a tenacity pet?

Re: Pet Aggro
I did at one point. My poor Atha suddenly couldn't tank for the life of her (or of me, as it were). I went to the pet trainer, wiped her talents and retalented her, and that fixed it. Worth a shot.

Much gratitude to Spiritbinder for the signature and Vephriel for the avatar! <3

Ok cool, I'll have to try that tomorrow and let my friend know. It was just funny that it happened to both of us one after the other.Sarayana wrote:I did at one point. Re: Pet Aggro
Ok here is the "secret" -conspiracy- as a expansion goes along pets get weaker and weaker, at the very end, and the beginning of a expansion there get "toughened" ie, more threat take more hits and all around tougher pet. Why I guess it is cause most tanks are dps at the time for lvling and Bm hunter pets do "fill in" tanking for elite quests etc. saw this at the end of vanilla and BC. Just wait, but if this now common knowledge watch it not happen again. Unknowne- Elune
Re: Pet Aggro
It's basically a scaling problem... the better the hunter's gear gets, the weaker the pet's threat generation becomes in comparison. It's especially noticable in WotLK because the gear got too powerful too fast (which even Blizzard themselves admitted to).

I've been wearin the same gear for a while now and haven't had much of a problem before. I'm not wearing ICC gear or anything fancy, but suddenly my pet just had a problem keeping agro.Nakari wrote:It's basically a scaling problem... the better the hunter's gear gets, the weaker the pet's threat generation becomes in comparison. Re: Pet Aggro
Some pets are better for tanking then others I guess, I normally use to go with a worm or a bear and never had any issues I used a Turtle for a VoA I OT once just use you MD all the time and try to FD now and then, with current Kairii I use my spirit beast bear when I go to ZG and as long as MD and FD I don't really pull off him unless it's a huge pack or something.
A huge thanks to kamoodle5 for the amazing signature ♥

Re: Pet Aggro
Also, I like to use MD right before big bursts of damage (chimera/aimed usually) and to try and keep Feign and Misdirect as separated as possible - Feign (15 secs) MD (15 secs) Feign (15 secs...) etc.
It's technically no better than using MD right after Feign, but I find having the nice pacing helps keep the rhythm and helps me keep an eye on my threat.
A note on world dragons - as I recall, one of them had a debuff that increased ability costs, meaning the pet may have had trouble keeping growl in its rotation.
