Blah, I just released my Soriid and was thinking of a pet to keep and decided on the teal scorpid skin that hasn't been seen in beta yet. Tamed the first one I see and log out for the night. Afterwords I see this topic and check my armory to see which one I tamed, and I tamed a swarmer. D= Guess tomorrow I'm going back to get a creeper instead.

Are you absolutely certain it was the Silithid Creeper and not the Silithid Swarmer that you tamed, though?

The Swarmer id # is the one that has changed into a worker-type for a quest in Cataclysm (when they probably should have used a new id), and should therefore be the one that disappears on transfer since those things probably aren't even classed as beasts.
The Creeper NPC seems to be entirely gone from the game, but is still in the database under the old blue model, so should survive the transfer.

Either way, it's clearly a bug that a legitimate pet should disappear entirely from the stable. If people report it, hopefully they'll either add that model back and use a new id for the new swarmer, or add a check for translating any swarmer pets to the same id as the creeper.
I have one of these on my female dwarf however I tamed it so long ago that I can't remember which model it was pre-tame, and I'd hate to dismiss it just on a guess, but neither do I want to just hold my breath and wait for Blizz to fix this...

I was thinking we should be able to verify our pet's NPC ID with a script; however all I could find was UnitGUID, which gives me the NPC ID of the creature (3250 for creepers, 3252 for swarmers)... but when I try that on my own tamed turqoise scorpid it doesn't come even close... does anyone know how to get your pet's NPC ID other than using an addon like npc scan (I hate taking on new addons for simple things I should be able to code myself)?

You can verify which pet you have by looking on your WoW armory. :)

Go to your armory page, then click on your Talents tab. On that page your pets will be listed on the right hand side with their own talents. While on this page go up to your browser and go View -> Page Source. This will bring up the HTML code of that page. It should be fairly easy to spot your pet's names within this and beside them will have the original NPC ID and name.

We need the armory for beta accounts so we can see what pets may have been "transferred" into :P

Awesome, thanks ... and, my scorpid was indeed a creeper, yay (I figured it would be, since I'm lazy and wouldn't have wanted to bother with the little guys nipping at my toes while I tamed their mom...)

That's a gorgeous pet. Are the green scorpians changing into those and keeping their IDs?

If you're referring to the tan coloured Silithid Worker model - then so far it appears that if you tame the current Silithid Swarmer, it is gone from your stables in beta. Might be a 'bug' (no pun intended) - might be intentional.

Right.. found him.
Looks like he went the way of the "what was tameable" Snake. It's pet icon is invisible. I had to train "Call Pet 2" to get the ability to summon him.

Take a look...

Well it has no abilities, can't be fed etc... so it won't be a very useful pet as it stands :(

Damn! It looks awesome, please let it stay Blizz. PLEASE. Finally we get silithid wasps, now it's time for the worker too!

Bah. Anxiety kicks in again, I'm such a damn pessimist. But as with the brainbugs. I really hate to see this removed too. And even if it isn't useful I will love it a 100% if I ever have it. Thanks alot though Darknez

;) no problem. I've tamed it on a couple of hunters as it stands - so if it ever makes it into Cataclysm on release it doesn't really take up a pet slot anyway! :P
At the very least - the teal scorpids have survived.

As cruel as it sounds, I never cared for the scorpid. I'm a pure Silithid lover. Insect too but I'd much rather have a swarmer than another color scorpid.

As it stands now, I HOPE more Silithid models join the fray. They need more love, I hope the swarmer and wasp make it to live. Then I have Silithid Ravager (bronze ravager) Silithid Wasp (bronze) and Silithid Swarmer (bronze). If just the brainbugs didn't run extinct. Well who knows? Maybe in some other expansion/patch they will be tamable. I mean, if Blizzard reveals all pets as tamables in one expansion, then what new things are there for hunters in another exp/patch?

The green/teal scorpid is now a common mob in 10kN.

Added in the last pass with the parrot and serpent mobs. Y'all can stop panicking now.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

I think this thread is more about the silthid worker model then the teal scorpid.
So basically, currently in beta the Swarmer model of teal scorpid turns into a Silthid Worker model which is otherwise untameable?

How does this work with the resurfacing of the teal scorpid in beta? Do the new teal scorpids in 1k needles have a new Mob ID?

I've not seen them listed on WoWHead yet to say whether they replaced the Silithid Creeper or if they are new mobs with the same skin. I am assuming the latter - and even if the Silithid Creeper itself isn't in Cataclysm, anyone with a tamed one will still keep it as it was.
