Sporebats?

Unread post by Royi »

Does anyone run with a Sporebat? I think they're neat looking and I still have yet to see a Signature with "My sporebat and me"...type dealy

I think I'm going to go get a sporebat, fall in love with its awesome awkwardness, and then be like "BAM" make a Sig with my sporebat.

Anyone seriously though use these guys (more than just taming to fool around with)?

Actually on Nesingwary there's a Sporebat named Bob who's become somewhat of a celebrity with the Petopians Guild. ^^

He just stood out so much because he was the only Sporebat I've ever seen, and soon I ended up doing a /hug to him every time I saw him in the city. A few of us have talked with the hunter now and ran some stuff with him. Nice guy, and he even brings Bob into ICC with him raiding. ^^

I had one -very- briefly. I quite like their glow effect, but erm, the tip of their longest tail thingie, it looked somewhat obscene to me. And that was one of those things which can't be unseen :(

I used one back when ICC first came out

Spore Cloud - Sporebat [6 ranks]
20 Focus Melee Range
Instant 10 sec cooldown
Dusts nearby enemies with spores causing [rank] Nature damage every 3 sec for 9 sec and reducing armor by 3%.
Their attack is nice if your raid has people who forget to re apply debuff :< And yes they are very cute :) I did run about with my Sporebat, Mini Sporebat pet and Sporebat tabard for many weeks :)

I've never had one, but I'd love to get one once there are more stable slots in Cata. I just don't have room for one right now to experiment with.

Teigan has some wonderfully adorable new emotes for them since she's been working on updating Pet Emote. ^^ It really makes me want one, haha.

I used to have one long ago, and I do still think they're awesome. I look forward to having one again when the new stables go live

I've run with one. Sporebats are adorable and along with the netherrays, I've always WANTED to like them, but they just never grew on me. Tried netherrays too for a bit, but same issue. Same with the fireflies/wasps. I'm pretty sure I've tamed every type of mob in the game just for kicks over the years. I think rarety, OPness and coolness factor tended to trump just about any familiarity bond I formed. Currently have two spiritbeasties (skoll and gondria), one T-rex (because they are made from the purest of win), Numeroc (sexy and my hardest tame) and a common northrend wolf... because I'm a total sellout when it comes to higher performance pets... and I kinda needed a non-exotic to play my marks build.

Now with the growing stables of cata, I think I'll snag another sporebat and see if it sticks this time. You never know.
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.

I've had the yellow model for quite a while now, almost a year. They're very pretty and have a good ability, but I fell in love with their noises! They purr or something, it's so cute.

I've used him heroics and questing. I even brought him into some Ulduar when it was still fairly new. =3 I don't raid much anymore, or I'd try him ICC.

I had a sporebat for quite some time and recently retamed and again replaced for another pet (Oily Wolf)
I do plan on getting him back come cata though. He seems to be one of those few pets that I just cant seem to get rid off lol.
Their de-buff is indeed nice for Boss fights and Trashpacks.
The ackwardness and eerie-ness just kind of fits me I guess.

That's strange. With that debuff the sporebats have, it should make everyone want one. It's similar to the worm's acid spit, although, yes, the worm is a exotic pet.

On my fourth hunter, I am going to go on a theme for blue and orange pets, and I think I might try a blue sporebat. They do look odd but they are cute.

I think they're pretty, but can't keep one as a pet simply because it doesn't really have a face. I mean, I look at it and can't tell if there are eyes, a mouth, etc. It's almost just a little too alien for me. Even silithids have easily distinguishable facial features, but sporebats just have some weird markings on their head and I can't tell what's what.

This. This this and so much this. I love sporebats and I was quite happy when I tamed a pretty blue one on my hunter while I was leveling through Zangarmarsh. I thought it was cute how the tails kinda swirled in a circle when it flies, so I took a small video of the animation viewed from behind (how I see it) in model viewer and sent it to my friend.

All he said was 'That big tail looks like a big floppy d***."

I looked and sure enough... that's all I can see now when I look at them. -_- Sigh.

I do plan on retaming one in Cataclysm because I do love the colourations of them and how they are so bright. I'll just have to try to unsee what my friend pointed out about it's tail..
Rejoined the hunt after a lengthy break... feels good!

I had one for a little bit but wish they had more skins and a rare or two to hunt down. Fun of being a hunter for me is the quest to tame rares.
LoL can't wait for more to show up.

I'd really love to see them in more colours as well. I'd like to have a sporebat, but none of the current models really appeal to me. The nature of them being alien creatures leaves them with near limitless hue combinations, but sadly I just don't think we'll see more added unless they revisit Zangarmarsh. They're rather unique in their niche location.

You could hunt Sporewing, He's a unique skin and is a named mob, but yet I bet his respawn timer is 3 minutes...

I did like the lil' debuff to reduce Armor, but alas I just let my Sporebat go today when I ran across Nuramoc (only room for 1 cunning Pet)
