Letting a rare go...
I think my time with Arcturis is over. He was my first rare camp I endured, and if anyone followed I raved on these forums only a week or two ago about getting him.
I found Loque'nahak by complete random "oh i'll just fly over once..." type of scenario and I have clicked with Loque much more than I ever did with Arc. I think Arcturis is the easiest of the SB's to get so I know I'll get him again once my stables go to 25.
My stables cannot hold him anymore even though I have an opening, I think I'm going to look for Skoll more or maybe pick up Gondria next. If anyone is curious ~
Current Stables:
Oil stained Wolf
Loque'nahak
Sporebat
Polar Bear
Here's to you, you fancy rare spawn hunter pet

Don't feel guilty if you just didn't click with a rare, it happens to plenty of people. ^^ You'd never know unless you tried, and at the least you had fun camping him.

I agree with Veph. Both of my 80 hunters camped each of the Spirit Beasts for days , but for one reason or another I had to let them all go. Right now I'm waiting for the extended stables before I'm getting any of them back, no matter how gorgeous they may be.

Thanks, it makes me feel better.
I like the hunt, maybe i'll turn into a catch and release type player (if no other hunters are around that want whomever it would be)

Yeah follow your heart! Looked like you really enjoyed Loque, I bet you will grow an even stronger bond with him, then leave Arcturis behind. But it might be worth just keeping both, if you in the future decide to change your mind
But indeed, if you have the time (Weekend etc.) Arc is the easiest of the SB's to tame!

Well Arcturis is gone. I didn't feel bad about it afterwards. I have a stable slot open for the fun revolving door type slot, until I find Skoll probably.

Rares are hard tocome by, but if you dont click with a pet then you should let them go back into the wild and find a pet you click with.
For me Skoll didnt click so I released him back into the wild and had a few pets before I found one I clicked with ^.^
I am sure you will find Skoll ^.^ Good luck on your hunt.

Re: Letting a rare go...
I was musing on this topic a bit today, and discovered more reasons of why the currently existing Spirit Beasts just didn't click with me. Forgive my random tangent here, but it sort of fit with this thread anyways. ^^;
My problem was overlooking the original impressions I had of each (which was that I didn't want any of them). As the thrill of the hunt grew in me and I became determined to own all 4, I started making up reasons as to why I needed them, or blatantly ignoring my past reactions. xD
Loque'Nahak ~ When I saw the first leaked images of this cat I was stunned by the beauty and by the unique model. However, even then I didn't particularly want him though, I just admired him for the special pet he was. I was never a 'cat person' in WoW, they never seemed to click with me, and Loque's colours weren't exactly ones that I would be drawn to (*coughs and shoves Azzam behind her back inconspicuously*). When I think back on these original impressions, I realize that I still hold to them and I don't really need Loque.
Skoll ~ I actually loved the concept of this Spirit Beast. The blues were amazing, and I was thrilled by the lightning. However, the model itself was something I couldn't get past. Later when I decided to tame him I told myself that all of the cool traits surpassed the model's shortcomings, but really I was just fooling myself into loving it. I still cringed every time I saw his gimpy run and walk, or the dislocated jaw. I just pretended not to see them, but the fact is I could never get past that saber worg model.
Gondria ~ This would have been a pretty good candidate actually. If I were ever to bond to a cat in WoW, it would most likely have been a saber model like this (*coughs again and pushes Azzy away*). The first images I saw of Gondria really captivated me, but then I saw her in game. She was a great deal...pinker than I expected. In fact that colouring wasn't nearly as dark purple as I had originally anticipated, so altogether she just came across as a bit too feminine for my tastes.
Arcturis ~ Pretty bear, but I've never exactly been drawn to bears in the game, and the ghostly one did nothing for me. Then, suddenly, as I was on my Spirit Beast spree I formed a story to incorporate my single bear pet (Grudge, diseased black bear) as a reborn form in Arcturis. Later on I realized that the diseased model was what I truly loved, and though I'm still fond of the story I wrote, I'm going to backtrack and just get the original Grudge back.
So, in the end I suppose I just found that I'm susceptible to being blinded by shiny things and the addiction of hunting down the rares, but in the future I think I'll remember this and stick by what my real appeals are.
I'm sure there may be a Spirit Beast in the future that I'll absolutely love and need to get (for example, a reptilian one), but I never needed any of these ones so I'm happier without them. x)

Re: Letting a rare go...
Veph, being a digresser myself, i love tangents.
I'm happy with my Loque'nahak, I love his color and his animations, and he does pretty good damage too.
I'm in the same boat with you and Skoll though, I dont think i'm going to really waste any time searching for him or Gondria, if I happen to come across them, maybe I'll nab them for the heck of it, or spam to find another Hunter who would want it more (I got Gondria for my friend a couple days ago). I felt almost more happy about getting a rare for someone else now that I have my own (Loque).
Saber Worg... .Ugh.... I want a Spirit Beast Timber.
