Deep Spiders are now tamable! New Shale Spider exotic family
They're exotic and weren't tamable before this newest build. Every exotic pet has its own version of a class ability (for example, Core Hound has Bloodlust now), and this spider has Kings/MotW (obviously the 0% is a placeholder and will be 5% in future builds). Their location is that bored out tunnel system near Therazane's Throne.

Wow, very nice!! I must go check them out later, but what exactly is the exotic family name for them? "Shale Spider"?

Yes, once you tame them, they are renamed to Shale Spider.

Aww, it's so tiny! *tickles the creature - fingers get bitten off*
It seems to me that the "fluffy" patch got its name from most pet changes taking place during it. :D God wish I was in the Beta, this has to be the most exciting time for Hunters. <3

Well, that is awesome news that they are tameable but I really want to know what mount Kunstx is on (He's the undead just above the Aspect bar). Anyone know?

I'm now getting crashes on the Char selection screen so can't check it for the moment.Saturo wrote:OMGYAY!

Is it?... *Looks at image again*. Now I see it! Thanks.
Re: Deep Spiders (Deepholm) are now tameable!
The Elementium Spinners (also purple) in Twilight Highlands are now tameable too, but my toon is too low level to tame them (they're 84).
My next question is have you located any Crimson Shale Spiders, and if so are they also tameable? They use the red skin rather than the purple. cata.wowhead isn't up to date yet, but it indicates only red and purple skins so far. There is another beast called a Rock Borer that is also a red shale spider, but in the last update it was listed as en elemental. Perhaps that's changed.

Omg! Today is turning out to be as exciting as the Thousand Needles thread!! *huggles adorable little spider and puts on her tame list*
Re: Deep Spiders (Deepholm) are now tameable!
DO NOT TAME THIS IN THIS BUILD! It cannot be rendered on the character selection screen and you'll end up crashing all the time if you select your hunter on the character selection screen! Wait for later builds before taming this.

Yaaaaay! A spider I'll actually tame! I was really wondering what that family skill was for, so thanks for answering that question!

While I fully expect it to grow next patch, part of me hopes it'll stay tiny. By all means leave a big hitbox, but eeee tiny bug! <3

Re: Deep Spiders are now tamable! New Shale Spider exotic fa
I hope it grows a bit... Tarantula size would be OK.
Re: Deep Spiders are now tamable! New Shale Spider exotic fa
Woot for an all-new Exotic pet and species. I like how small it is. I'm thinking about getting 1.
Re: Deep Spiders are now tamable! New Shale Spider exotic fa
An update: With any other character selected on the character selection screen, I held my left mouse button down on this troll hunter and let it go and immediately hit Enter so that I'd enter the world before it rendered the character on the selection screen. This worked and I'm now in-game. So the crash mentioned above is clearly a rendering issue on the character selection screen due to the Deep Spider pet.
So feel free to tame this pet but beware the rendering crash issue. Don't keep this as an active pet when you log out or you'll have to do the same trick as above in order to log in.

wow. tiny. I'm diggin that. For an exotic, I could deal with em staying that small.
With them just now starting to widen the pet variety for Cata, my list remains as ever, in limbo...

I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.
