I have a feeling that they will turn into exotics, but I hope that they stay non exotic and get a new ability.Darknez wrote:Don't appear to be exotic either - yet they have the same abilities as Silithids?
I guess one or the other will change...

I ask because I do like the insectish pets (except for spiders), but could never stand the Silithid because it never stops moving. This'd be a nice alternative if it's a little calmer....

Re: Beetles!
The red one was in the same area as the purple ones, it just seems to be more rare, and it actually surprised me, as I tried to tame one, it burrowed, and I saw another on tracking right behind me, turned around and bam- big red beetle
The thing that really made me excited, but I think I've already debunked it from brief testing, is the beetle seemed to change color based on environment. I tamed him as red originally, then I flew to a green, grassy area of Uldum and landed, and when I did the beetle came out as the Green variation, a type I've never seen before. So I put him back in sand but he stayed green. So I tried water, flew to the water and summoned him, and he turned blue! But then I resummoned him and he was red again. Maybe it was just coincidental colorings, or maybe there is something to it, not sure yet.
Edit: I keep spelling beetle with an a, blah. Also added the "water beetle" skin

Thanks DothDoth777 wrote:More news on the beetle: The one in Uldum is apparently a color changer, with 2 new colors I dont think have been posted yet, here's the screens:
I mentioned those three colours in the original post. The red one is oddly out of place because it's an old silithid scarab style, while the others are the new Uldum patterns.
Thanks for confirming they're colour-changers though! We should report that and hopefully they'll make the colours stable. They'll be a great source of at least 4 skins.
In all the colour changes, did you happen to see the UldumScarabSkinTeal pattern? It's similarish to the blue one but has green spots instead of blue. That's the only colour I didn't see out in the field.

Tamable beetles = YAY.Doth777 wrote:Just tamed one of the Beatles It was a little tricky, as they seem to burrow when people get close (within 15yrds or so I think) and they wont pop back out for quite a long time, if at all if you remain close. It took about 15min to find one still active, swoop down, dismiss pet and shoot one before it could burrow.
What I did notice, and I could be wrong, was tame pet was much faster now. The Beetle turns out to be Cunning, which surprised me when I saw the stamina buff, I figured it would be a tank.
Not making them tenacity = ... ... wut?
I just don't get the thinking behind making them cunning... the silithid hunter-killer is already in cunning... beetles are huge and heavy and tankish... why wouldn't they put them in tenacity? It's almost like the developer who made them tamable spilled his coffee on the keyboard when he was selecting the species...
I'll certainly tame one anyway... but man, it's gonna feel weird having them in that family.

Re: Beetles!
Well, I think it's because currently they're just sharing all the same traits as the Silithid family, just like dogs and foxes did with wolves, and monkies did with gorillas! Will hopefully change!!Worba wrote:Tamable beetles = YAY.Doth777 wrote:Just tamed one of the Beatles It was a little tricky, as they seem to burrow when people get close (within 15yrds or so I think) and they wont pop back out for quite a long time, if at all if you remain close.
