Faerie Dragons?

Unread post by Worba »

Not sure if this has been recently checked, but since a number of new pets suggested in the cata hunter suggestions thread have recently materialized I thought I'd throw this out there - could someone check to see if the large faery dragons in blades edge mountains have become tamable by any chance (I'm assuming this is still the only place they can be found as large size)?

I don't think most of the dragons would look "right" as pets, but this (along with the northrend arcane serpents) would be one exception, in my view.

They would need to be reclassified as beasts, and I doubt that will happen... but then they have already changed Helboars from demons to beasts - so you never know...

You mean the mobs near the night elf place there? If you do, they're still tagged as Dragonkin so we can't tame them.

Agreed, and I've wanted to tame both of them since I first saw them! Hopefully, though, the arcane serpents would come in a color aside from pink, if they became tameable.

I think blizz wants to keep anything dragon-related out of the pet category.

Don't think they will. But I -AM- curious on some of the Proto-Drakes that are listed as beasts. As many people on the hunter forums begged for drakes and whelplings. >_<

Also let's not forget silithids, wasps and beetles; silithids and (some) wasps were reclassified as beasts in 3.0 and beetles will be in cata, then we have vargul blighthounds, and I suspect there will be yet more to come.

Bottom line we are seeing lately is that 1) Blizzard does indeed listen to the player community (these, and helboars are among the ones suggested in the hunter thread) and 2) reclassifying species isn't a major hurdle for them if they see a need for a creature to become tamable.

The fact that a creature is at least non-sentient (or largely non-sentient) and somewhat "beastlike" in appearance, e.g. would look okay next to a hunter, is now the only salient criteria in re: what could be made tamable. :ugeek:

Well there is the white Spirit of the North as well, in Coldara... :D

Either or both of these species would work just fine as exotics... or, if they are concerned that mass taming of arcane serpents would make spirit beasts less unique, they could simply leave regular arcane serpents untamable, and introduce a named rare arcane serpent - that tames to become a spirit beast. That way they wouldn't even need to bother adding a new family.

But I think faerie dragons would work fine as "regular" exotics, with faerie fire, or possibly some dust related ability...
