Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
So anyway, the thread detailing how to tame an oil-stained wolf was extremely helpful so I of course went out and got one of my own. Thinking it would be silly to have 2 wolves, I abandoned my old one, an OCJ I camped for 10 hours to tame named Antiquus. I almost immediately regretted it.
I have had all 4 spirit beasts, and have since abandoned all but Loque with no remorse. I am constantly getting bored with my pets and taming new ones, so why I felt guilty over letting a fluffy grey wolf go is beyond me, especially since I have so many pets in reality as well as a new husband for constant companionship. >.>
Today I put in a ticket to have Antiquus restored. I'm still baffled that I got attached to something in-game, but it might be due to the fact that he's the only pet who has been by my side from the moment I started raiding. We've seen it all together: Naxx, ToC, ICC, Uld, the works. I can't wait to get him back.
ANYWAY. What in-game pet are you most attached to, if any? And what got you so attached to the pet in the first place?

My main is now 80, and she's had the exact same pile of pixels ever since. I've never had the heart to abandon her, and she was actually the only pet I used until the pet overhaul before Wrath, when I added a Tenacity pet to my arsenal.

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
I named her after an NPC in Auberdine, as a sort of memorial to one of my favorite zones. Well, time passed and that little cat grew on me. She became my fishing buddy and my "kill, kitty, kill!" partner in working on Loremaster. When I got the mini-pet reward Little Fawn, this somehow became "her pet."

Now, during a questline in Zuldrak, where you are helping Harkkoa, there are ghostsabers. They're called the Redeemed Kittens of Harkkoa. I decided that Kyndri, my ghostsaber, would grow up to look like her mommy. Seems like a good idea, right?
Of course, I eventually found Loque. I was so excited. Here was my first spirit beast, ever! I released Kyndri and tamed Loque. Because Loque was supposed to be Kyndri, but all grown up, I gave her Kyndri's name. I wasn't about to admit it at that point, but it was wrong from the beginning. Loque was never Kyndri. I never thought of Loque as Kyndri, or even as a girl. Loque was just Loque. I missed my girl. Alot. And Loque never did take to Little Fawn.
But, it would be crazy to release Loque for a ghostsaber, especially since word had come out that ghostsabers made it through Cata. Right??
Eventually though, that's exactly what I did! I didn't even blink letting Loque go and I doubt I'll go look for him after Cata. Maybe we would have bonded if I hadn't tried to make him Kyndri, but who knows. Either way, when I got to Darkshore, Kyndri was waiting for me on the second statue I tried, exactly as before. Exactly where she was before. Gave her lots of hugs and Spiced Mammoth Treats. I'm sure her and Little Fawn were happy to see each other too.

Now, she's come to the Horde with me. Turning Orc hasn't made her love me less and she'll always be my sweet little ghost girl.
So, yeah, I get attached to pixels too.

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?

Skorn is the one for me, the pet that I'm most attached to. A lot of people seem to know me for my black devilsaur here, hehe. He's become an iconic part of my character and it's hard to encompass how much of a bond I have with this wonderful dino. I don't have a story of a pet who's been with me since the beginning, nor is there any tale of a difficult and frustrating tame. Even before Exotic pets were introduced I have to admit I never quite latched onto a particular pet for any significant amount of time. All I can say is that a devilsaur seemed to be my destined companion, and though I may not have had as much time with him as some people have had with their beloved pets, he was waiting for me all those years until the day came when devilsaurs could be tamed and I found my lifelong friend.

For Saon I think she loves all her pets equally.. Loque, King krush, Aotona and Kazuya (well see how Seung works out) I think she has a strong bond with Kazuya (aka grunter). Ive actually fallen inlove with the skin and am hoping he'll turn into something nice come cata or stay the same

thank you Ashaine and Kurenio!!!!

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
Failed pretty hard, cause I did it solo and...well, it didn't quite work out. Ouch.
So I leveled super hard and hit 34, then went back. It took me over an hour of hard work with a trash pet, burning down one elite mob at a time, FD-ing, and running for my life out of the instance portal, but I managed to burn down all the mobs up until the scarlet tracking hound and his then-in-game-master came my way. I popped a potion that made me invulnerable for a certain length of time and smashed that tame button. Even so I nearly died, but thankfully the tame went off with a FWOOSH of light and suddenly my new best friend whipped around and attacked his old master to defend me. GLEE.
I've run with Jiaphyon ever since, from level 34 to level 80. I even tried to switch pets at one point and stabled him. It lasted maybe an hour. I just felt bad putting my hyena away! I didn't try other pets again until the both of us were level 80. The only reason I will EVER let him go is right before Cata, so I don't have to see him turn into an ugly jowl-dog, but I'll let him go in Tanaris and pick him up again after he gets a well-deserved vacation.

When I made my current hunter on a different realm, soon as I got lvl 20 I went and got another Ghostsaber named Campy.
I used to love having that ghostsaber in lvl 29 WSG. Especially when he would get poisioned or diseased, on the grass in the middle he would be virtually undetected. I was full BM at 29 too so I could send him after say a lvl 20-22 mage or priest and he would solo them pretty easily. heh

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
Odin's been with me for what feels like honestly forever. It took me forever to tame him and it was the effort of a lot of friends; it's funny because the number of friends in my realm (non-hunters) who heard it was tameable knew I would go crazy for him. Odin is actually pretty popular within my guild and friend-circle.
Heero, my spirit beast, will forever be my favorite pet. "Heero" has lived on in so many previous incarnation of cats along my WoW journey, that I feel he never left even when I re-tamed a new beast. Original he was Broken Tooth, then a Grovestalker Lynx and then finally Loque'nahak.
I don't know what attracts me to certain "polygons", but some of them just have... more personality.

What I fell in love with first though, was Loque, which I have waited so long for, now as I have him I feel that I'm growing more into him as each hour pass

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
Deadlock's been around since I was level 30 or 40ish. She's a deviate dreadfang and does NOT revolve.
Kael's been mine since the moment I was high enough to tame him. Warp Chaser. He revolves with Hunger.
Paranoia was a long camp - Old Cliff Jumper. Does NOT revolve.
Odin and Loki were tamed the same day, within an hour of each other. Nuramoc and The Beast. Do NOT revolve.
Hunger's actually very recent, but I built a story for him...Soriid the Devourer. Revolves with Kael.
Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
Later on I started a troll hunter and found out she was made tamable, so at level 20 I rushed to Darkshore to tame my pretty bird. Back then tallstriders where a rare thing to see, especially at high levels. They had more tank stats and no special ability, but I loved her to death. She became well known on my old server Kirin Tor for tanking Hakkar back at 60. I still have screenshots of that somewhere on my old computer.
Right now she's a part of my hunter. I am not Wassa without Hahadori at my side.
A rare visitor to this forum now that I don't play WoW anymore, but forever a Petopian.

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
Shaon has her Ramas, who began as a black leopard and is currently in the Cursed Skin. She tamed Ramas first and she will always love her black kitty, but there are two other pets in her roster that I think folks in the guild know her more for. Jasper the warp stalker from Terrokar and Morok, formerly King Mosh. Jasper has become very special, named after a little dragon carved from jasper my husband gave me for our first Christmas as husband and wife. And with the revamped pet emotes, he's become a complete ham. He was "released" once during the King Krush fiasco, but I immediately went back to get him. Same warp stalker, same spot. The guild and I agreed that he was Feared so badly, he warped back to the place he once called home and was waiting for me. I won't let that happen again. I can wait for Krush. That pile of lizardness has a permanent place by Shaon's side now.

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
THIS. IS. SPARTA!
It needed to be done.
Anyway, for Fire, personally, it's Moonlight, Rak'shiri. We've conquered Outlands together and braved the armies of the Lich King. However, Iorek, my armored wolf, is more well known. He's AKA the "Wolf Tank". He'll occasionally, without growl, pull aggro from our very good bear tank, hold the mob just fine until the tank gets it. Healers happily heal him in instances, and one even rezzed Ior when he died. The druid got a
/e [Iorek]: licks Mord across the face in thanks!
for his efforts.

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
Now 3yrs later I still have that same hyena, and we;ve been everywhere together. There are very few occasions where I use another pet just to try one out, but always I call my Red hyena back and we hunt freely together.
Though a dark cloud looms on the horizon as the red hyenas in SM have been turned into mastiffs in beta, and the thought of my buddy becoming one lays heavily in my heart. The only red hyena that will be available to tame will be the rare, Slaverjaw in tanaris...but to abandon my pet of 3yrs, to retame the model...still does not sit well.

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
I have loved dinos forever, and I have tamed every dino that we can possibly tame! But to me, the raptors seemed flimsy, and I never clicked with any other color of trex enough for me to point and say, "This is my pet." I saw KK's first screenshot on a German preview site for WotLK, and squealed out loud. I had to have that big green hulk! SO after lvling, camping (ugh..), and taming (UUGH...), I was tickled to have my green buddy at last.
I adored him from the get-go. I always portray him as having a sillier, puppyish attitude, one that was tempered with the flip-side of being an absolute killier when I needed him to be. Say I'm out mining, and a scourge attacks me...suddenly, Krush is right there, disemboweling and dismembering whatever had the gall to bother his lady, tossing bloody body bits all over the ground.
He's my buddy, for keeps.

Re: Attached to polygons!? What is this madness!?
For my main horde hunter, Eribess, it used to be a plagued wolf, but one day, I didn't feel the connection anymore and it still kinda makes me sad to think that I let him go...but I just didn't feel like he was my best friend anymore, and I started not taking him out of the stables as much, so instead of keeping him, I let him out into the wild where I see him being happy and free... ^^ ...As of recently...Bess has become SERIOUSLY attached to a tiger I decided to get her on a whim when I went out to do Zalazane's Fall...I tamed her, named her Mira, and they've been totally inseperable for some odd strange reason...I don't know why!!

Many thank you's to Siliverin for the best siggy ever, and also hugs and love to kamoodle5 for my most amazazing avatar. <3
