Worba: As far as I have seen there isn't a "call pet" ability. You can switch between 5 active pets on the fly, but to change the the active ones to ones in the stables, you need a stable master.

Zeilla8 : Silithid Ravager is the only tan one in live outside of AQ (Vekniss Warrior). Presumably that's still the same on the PTR.

I know it's not mentioned in the 4.0 patch notes but elsewhere someone mentioned of tame-pet going from 20sec down to 10sec default... so I'm wondering if this'll go in as well? Or if it's just a Cata. thing...

I'd assume that comes along with the talent & skill changes etc.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally had to bring my druid to a few 25m raids in LK because we were missing one of the owl buffs. Would have saved me a lot of grief if I could have just brought Kalli with a different pet. So I'd assume that it'll depend on your guild's raid comp.

Z meant that unless you're hell-bent on having that particular Silithid Ravager, you can tame one of the tan non-rare Silithid Ravagers after the Cataclysm hits....but that'll be later on.

You can mount flying mounts in vanilla now, you just can't fly :lol: :mrgreen:

Okay, so I've gotten into the PTR and screwed around a bit and this is what I've can say about the patch.

+Class changes are up. (Focus works really well in my opinion.)
+Stable slots are in and you don't have to pay as far as I can see. You might have to pay for the call pet slots, but I dunno.
+New talent trees are up
+Glyph system is up, haven't tried it but it sounds like it's not working yet.
+Nothing in the way of change in the land really. Okay that's a lie. I'm pretty sure Darnassus is a bit more spread out but other then that I haven't really looked around. I must have been seeing something there, my friend says Darn looks like it did before. I need new glasses. >>
+The updated graphics are not in game. Just lower your settings and the old water and lava will load.
+The new spellbook is in. Pretty nice to see.
+The lvl alert thing is in as well. The thing that says you lvl up and tells what skills you geat upon reaching that lvl.
+You can run around on your flying mount, but not actually fly.
+Tame beast is down to 10 seconds.
+The blizzard look-alike of Power Auras in, though it's slightly glitchy on my hunter I noticed...
+Existing armor is modified to reflect class changes. Don't know if it's just your characters armor or if it was all. I would assume all but what do I know.
+Your mounts all scale to your fastest speed. I.E Dawnsaber running at 100% Snowy Gryphon flying at 280% etc.
+The pet abilities are in, haven't really tried them.
+You can see Archeaology in the professions tab but can't actually use it.
+ I haven't noticed any big changes with Multi-shot yet so we might only have explosive trap for any aoe we're gonna do.
+Trap launcher is fun. Very fun. :3

There's probably more but I just can't think of 'em. I've got my hunter transfered over so if you want me to go wander around and tame things and such, just lemme know and then I'll go do it and post it here or pm you the results or something. -shrug- Oh and when word gets out that this patch is gonna go live, stick around a hunter trainer lol. Your gonna have to pick up a few skills.

Hey look, they announce Illidan returning in some form and suddenly I'm back. Hmmmm I wonder if there's a connection. :D

From what I've heard on MMO-Champion, Beast Mastery is "extremely Over-powered". That pets "does more damage than you". And "Kill Command is critting for 10-25k". And I'm kinda doubting if I'm even gonna try to get into the 4.0 public test realms. I've heard they're full alot.
Robot Wars is renewed for 6 episodes! I love some Exotic pets! And I hate spiders for.. "pets"!

Got into the PTR, started a lvl 1 Belf Hunter.

So far it's really awesome. Focus is so much more fun, and it regens at a nice rate so you can always fire off an Arcane Shot (Steady works great as an opener if you're low on Focus but just have to kill something lol). Leveling is FAST now that you don't have to worry about mana.

The Dragonhawk's pet ability at least works fine (8% more magic damage, makes Arcane hit a bit harder). Gonna get to 10-11 and tame some other beasts and see how their abilities work.

Seriously, it looks like it's gonna be really fun to be a Cataclysm Hunter :D

My pet pulls more agro than me and will pull off tanks WITHOUT growl :headbang: BEAST MASTER IS BACK BABE!! :headbang: :mrgreen:

Side note, all ArP gems, buffs, and stats on items have changed to Crit. Agi, Stam, Haste, and Crit are the only stats on my items.

That's good to hear - but, how much active effort is involved in doing that? Do you need to track/juggle several different CD's/rotations or is this more passive/built-in? I want my BM hunters to hit as hard as my SV and MM hunters but also want them to have to work just as hard for it. ;)

Is it just because I'm playing with an incomplete download, or are add-ons really disabled in 4.0.1 on the PTR?

The PTR client is separate from your old client. Are you sure you have installed addons for it at all?

I've been looking for Krush for this reason, but sigh, he wasn't up. In fact, NONE of the SB rares were. *shakes fist*

Really? It didn't seem like it; the tooltips on my mounts still show 280%.

Definitely. Since they removed the BW effect from the hunter, they had to do this else people would start considering these guys to be the new crocoslime/spirit wolf.

Personally I think new (10 sec cast time) tames of The Beast should not have the special icon however, once this goes live - that would still allow people who did it "the hard way" to retain something special, no matter how cosmetic... :|
