Awwww come on now if you are gona give it a Transformer name there is only one way to go.... Ravage! black Metal looking cat with red eyes i mean it practically names itself
This is actually what I was planning on naming mine, once I get him. I thought I was being so clever.
My condolences, OP. I've pretty much decided to stay away from all of the new rares until a couple months from now (with the exception of Magria, who I found on accident) because of all the horrible stories I've been hearing. I would be beyond devastated if I put that much time into camping a pet and some jerk stole it out from under me. D:
I'm even hesitant to be camping Terrorpene as much as I am right now because it's in such a high traffic area. I'm worried that if I finally happen to be there when he spawns, someone will kill either me or him. =/
This morning, my friends Lateef and Ourlasthope (both hunters) and I had a strategy in mind and I stayed up all last night and this morning to camp for Deth. Finally, with me being the only one around, he spawns in front of me at 12:15. I send a frantic tell to my hunter friends and they come running to help me kite and get him down to his tamable level of 20%. Then, some really dumb orc warlock *who shall remain nameless* comes and just as i was seconds of completing the tame, steals aggro both with spells and his stupid pet and proceeds to kill Deth in front of me. I was devastated, I literally cried while the Orc Warlock simply got on his mount and ran away and I was crushed. Why would someone do this to a person that was obviously not trying to kill the beautiful creature? Why would he just stand back and watch and decide "I think I will ruin this hunter's tame by killing the beast instead, right in front of her?" I mean seriously, WTF??
I have never, EVER done anything even remotely like this to anyone, and to be treated with such utter disrespect! But after today, I am so tempted to do so...I always believed in Karma, but WOW....after having these incidences occur over and over again, it is definitely trying my patience!
Sorry, I'm still extremely upset. My friend said to open a ticket because he should have been mine, everything was going perfectly. But I doubt that a GM could even remotely begin to understand the dedication a hunter has to a rare pet.
Going to try one more time but am seriously considering quitting because of the way things have been going as of late. I have been playing WoW since Day 1 and this crap is just getting old.
With a heavy heart from your fellow Petopian....
Laura
It's unlikely that a GM will care as much as you, but if someone gets repeatedly reported it probably does add up.
And I'm sorry to hear that ... remember if you can that not everyone is like that and that the tiny minority who get their joy from spoiling that of others are, indeed, a minority.

I am reasonably sure that a GM won't give you the pet. I'm not even sure if they have the ability to do this. That being said, I would report this kind of thing 100% of the time, even if I just witnessed it happening to another player. It's the very definition of griefing. One player killed a mob that would not give him loot or achievement credit or ANYTHING simply to ruin another player's day. There is no reason that should ever happen and personally I think it should be a long ban the first time it happens, and a permanent vacation should it ever happen twice. That player is a sociopath, whether they realize it or not, and does not really belong in a game like this at all. It's not normal to derive pleasure from disappointing other people.
These players are the minority however, I agree. Sadly the new rares are all right there where most level 85 players are currently spending their playing time though, so it makes you far more likely to run into one than you would have for almost any other rare tame. It's very disappointing to see this kind of behavior from hunter and non-hunter alike these past two weeks. Fortunately I have also seen some very respectable behavior as well to offset it.
They won't give you the pet. However, they might throw the sacrificial jerk into the penalty volcano and at least one or two people have gotten the banstick for it, temp bans or warnings (Which can lead to bans as you climb the penalty volcano). Having to buy a new account might make one think twice about ruining someone's day repeatedly.
Edit: And yes, it IS sad we have to resort to punishment as a deterrent instead of 'don't be a wanker'.

Yet another update to this sad story. Yes, no Deth for me
Short version: This morning July 11, 2011 when Deth spawned at 2:24 AM, same exact scenario occurred except this time an ally hunter and warlock finished off Deth a second before I could complete the tame even after a couple of us yelled in general to please not kill the beast as i was trying to tame it. It did not help at all. After Deth lay dead before me, I kept a calm and level head and ask the hunter why he would do this. He said that he did not, it was all the ally lock's fault. Funny, when I asked the lock, he said that the hunter had whisped him when he saw us kiting Deth and told him that it was not tamable and to help kill it for the loot. I wanted to put all this behind me and just be alone for a little bit to recollect myself. Of course, enormous amounts of sadness ensued. I logged, tried not to think negatively and went to bed.
When I logged on a little while ago, one of my friends that were not present for this latest tragedy I entitled "Wishing for Deth...and being repeatedly denied", informed me that he knew the hunter that had told the lock to help kill Deth. And, he had a purple spider by his side.
Sigh...The only thing that is keeping me going (other than caffeine) is all of the encouraging things that my fellow Petopians here have shared with me.
I am now camping his spawn point yet again, AMP energy drinks in hand.
That does suck, I am sorry Yes these new rares in high traffic areas do turn people into jerks. I don't understand the mentality of non hunters to kill them either.
Heres a story of hope...
I helped 2 hunters tame Deth hoping karma would reward me after having Anthriss killed as i tried to tame...and managed to find Solix! There was a NELF there as well as myself (Tauren). We took it in turns, both dying alot but I luckily got the tame in the end. Got a gratz and a cheer too from my ally counterpart. I wished him the best of luck
I most recently got abused by some lvl 74 hunters for camping Arcturis. I basically just log at his spawn and check as I log in before raids. Have no intention of stealing anything but just as i log I'm met with "OMG GO AWAY YOU S&%^T!" I hadn't said a word...I hit that report button so damn fast. But I too got the upper hand, mr abusive was going in and out of bg's and when they went afk he spawned! I tamed while they sat there. Karma happens!
Heads up! I got Deth with the help of a very nice golbin huntress who helped me kite him. Not everything is lost with this patch. I personally think it was a big FAIL of blizzard to put new and unique rares in such a crowded area and make them killable for non-hunters (there should be more pets like ghostcrawler!).
I'm a little bit depressed now. I just went to have a shower after having camped Banny the whole morning, just going to do some pvp once in a while. Then I did a important phone call - logg back in - and there he is. He must have spawned not two minutes before I logged in. I just see an other Orc hunter finishing the tame. I whisper the Orc my congrats and ask him how he managed to pull him down to the floor without dying (he told me he sacrificed his wife for that ) and now I'm back in my stupid tree with Morga. I must admitt I don't feel bad, the other hunter got him. He was there first, he got him. And I already have him with my Bloodelf. It just annoys me to have spent the whole morning for nothing... Also no sight of Magria and Ankha the whole morning.... *needs some more coffee*
I didn't know where to put it. So I got back here to post the story, that just happened to me.
I'm still camping Magria/Ankha with Finduilas (since 4 days now *sigh*) and didn't even see them. I started to check out the other rares as well, just to know if they have spawned and I still have some friends looking for Deth or Karkin or whatever...
I just visited the molten front and wanted to return to the hyjal, when I see Solix sitting in his lava pond. Several alliance and horde non-hunters are around to do the quest there, but don't bother him. I see a tauren-warrior aprroaching him: spot, charge - fail and die. i whisper the tauren, just to leave the beast alone, it doesn't drop anything. I don't get an answer, but he leaves. Then a nelf tries to kite him, but dies after two steps. I tried to help the nelf, but got aggro after his death and die, too. I ask in general, if anybody wants him, but nobody answers. Then a Tauren-Hunter shows up with a mage and a druid from his guild. He runs to Solix, hits tame, and of course he dies. I whisper him: "Do you know, you have to kite him?" He didn't know. I tell him how to do it and offer him my help. He invites me in group and we start. Our first attempt goes wrong and we both die, but the second one seems quite good. Solix reaches the tamable mark and I yell at the Tauren "TAME!" he doesn't react and kepps conc-shotting him. A gnome-mage shows up and starts to throw his casts at Solix, again I cry "TAME" and finally he hits tame. Solix looses health, the mage keeps hitting him, but then the tame is done, he flashes blue and crawls to the Tauren's side. That was a close one... The Tauren thanks me, I give him my gratulations and offer him my help, if he should meet an other rare he's after. He thanks me again, then I leave group and return to Magria/Ankhas spawn-point.
*hopes for karma to love her* I really hope, I will see one of the cats soon, as I'm rather disappointed by now. Didn't see them for four days now and it's getting boring to stare at the dang trees for hours...
