Re: I like this idea...
I dont see how griefers are a "challenge"
It isnt something you can overcome. Its not a challenge to be won, you cant overcome a griefer who is bladestorming skarr with your 9 second channel tame. if you are being griefed, you are helpless, nothing you can do can help you tame the beast.
well there is one circumstance you can overcome it... pvp server, opposing faction. then you could possibly overcome the obstacle to complete the tame.
in my eyes, there isnt a legit game reason to stop an honest tame.

Re: I like this idea...
I just had a random idea: what if, instead of flaming and crying over griefers, if they kill it we /hug /love and /thank them and act happy? Not the ones who want it for loot or just think it was rare=kill- I mean the ones that do it on purpose to grief hunters. What would they think if we did that?
Ok, so maybe it wasn't my original idea, but...

That I pretty much agree with (re: don't give griefers the benefit of a reaction... of any kind); the only time I've ever been "tame griefed" was when camping Humar; I'd log in, check, log off. Well throughout the day I notice a BE hunter running around nearby, but I don't give it much thought. Then on my next log in I see the eagle eye swirly effect near me. Log off, come back a couple hours later, and there's the BE, standing there with his tamed Humar. He immediately starts jumping around, and sends his pet running around the tree using the "move to" command.CrystalKitten wrote:I mentioned something similar beforeTo just /shrug when ever someone griefs. They do it to see a reaction. No reaction means not only did they waste YOUR time, they wasted their own, as they didn't get what they wanted
That's my own methods though. I never make a big deal over griefing.. If it's corpse camping, I'll stay as a ghost and go get a drink, or use the bathroom til they get bored and leave. If it's anything else, report if possible, and just move on. Telling them they're being an ass isn't going to do anything but encourage them, so why bother.
I just sat down and logged off; the fact that someone would waste 5-6 hours of their life waiting around to grief a complete stranger was all the revenge I could have ever wanted.

Next morning when I checked, Humar was there waiting for me, wearing a sheepish look and quite ready for a better home.

I will now follow your hunter everywhere and kill every rare you try to tame. None of this "when I finally did get it" stuff, you will not succeed, if I need an army of players, you will not tame another rare again.. That makes it more exciting right??pengupuff wrote:Come on guys... do you really want everything handed to you? It all adds to the challenge for me. Yeah, I've been in plenty of situations with "griefers" (lol), but I just moved on, and when I actually got the pet it made everything that much sweeter. The competition, the anxiety, the suspense, it's kind of what defines these types of tames.
It would be like if every Pokemon game started with 100 master balls in your inventory and a level 75 Mewtwo in your party. Or something like that. It sounds nice on paper, but it would actually be pretty boring, right? You know why I stopped playing Pokemon Black? It's because I bought an Action Replay. Everything I could ever want in-game right at my fingertips... but since I didn't earn it, I just got bored and put the game away.
Sure, Blizzard could give us 100 billion stable slots and make all rares immortal and introduce some crazy new mechanic where every hunter interested in a rare has to take a number and quietly wait in line and then ban everyone who ever had a rare out while someone else in the area was using NPCscan, but then after all of that was finally done... what would we have to work for? Nothing. It would be boring and unrewarding.

Re: I like this idea...
Sure, I welcome the hilarity. I'm on Skywall Horde side, my hunter's name is Linesk, and though I'm not after any tameable rares atm, I am on the hunt for Poseidus and that purple drake thing from Deepholm (I forget its name). I'm usually on anywhere from 4-10pm server.Monica Gems wrote:I will now follow your hunter everywhere and kill every rare you try to tame. And wow, by the implications in your post it sounds like there is some evil underground organization of online terrorists specifically out to make your gaming experience a bad one. That's pretty intense, I feel bad for you.
