This is something I have never thought about... the use of MD... Duh. I rarely use this shot but I'm going to look into it now and see if I can incorporate it to help with keeping threat on my pet. I still expect to pull the mob off of my pet, but any more delay before they come means that much sooner they are dead. Thanks for that info.Rhyela wrote: I can't remember what level you get Misdirection, but it is a huge help when pulling groups. I toss that on Sheldon with a pre-emptive Mend Pet, then off he goes into the heat of battle! I very rarely pull off of him with a combination of MD + Thunderstomp. Though, I am Beast Mastery. But even in your case as a Marksman, your Volley is probably a lot stronger than mine so the group would die faster anyway.

Misdirection as an opening shot is awesome. It gives your pet a great aggro boost right off the bat. You have to remember that your not tearing into a mob to max out your dps, your simply there to kill him collect loot.. profit.
set up a simple misdirect macro for your pet - that way you dont always have to reset your focus to him after you unmount.
1 macro set your pet as focus.. you can modify this later to make it your tank when raiding
2nd macro is target focus .... cast misdirection.... assist focus..
then run your shot rotation.
of course I am at work and cant give you the actual macros I use but its something like that

The macro I use is simpler, and doesn't require you to focus your pet.
Code: Select all
/cast Misdirection [target=pet]

Re: Tenacity: Worth it?
I agree the reason mine is set up with a focus is that I have a set of hot keys that set my focus to the main and off tanks of my raid. so I can with a two key hit i can boost any one of my preset tanks aggro. A raiding set up if you wish.

As a marksmanship hunter, for a tenacity pet, I recommend a boar. (I'm partial to the ones you pick up in RFK.) The reason is, their special ability does double damage following a charge. This really helps by "front-loading" their damage, so that it takes longer before you out-damage them to the point that you pull aggro off. I find that this will still happen anyway once you're into Outland, but not until the mob is nearly dead anyway. Between the time the oinker buys and the fact that you're now (or hopefully soon) wearing Outland-quality mail armor, it really shouldn't be a big deal.
Misdirection will make things much easier eventually, but you don't get that until level 70.\
For a macro, try:
This will allow you to Misdirect to any friendly target you want, but defaults to your pet if you haven't selected some other friendly target.
