Sometimes. Sorrid the Devourer is "Hunger" and Arcturis is "Arccy" for instance.

I'm not sure why, but seeing pets named their pre-tame names makes me twitch. >.O
Probably because I find the taming and naming of pets a great way to further customize your character....But that's just me, and I am odd.
