So am I odd or...
It started with Humar. I sat there looking at my new gorgeous black kitty trying to think of a name. Then it dawned on me... he already had one. So, Humar runs with me. And so it began and all my pets that have names when I catch them keep their names. OCJ is Jumper, Gondria is Gondria, King Krush is Krush... They keep their names or as close as I can to their names. Now the Tan Silithid (Silthid Ravager) is Spud... he didnt have a name to start so I gave him one... but the others keep theirs. Is it just me or....
Re: So am I odd or...
Your not alone
Ive seen loads of hunters doing it, I myself feel bad for renaming them ^^'
But then I just started to name them after guildies /lame

Re: So am I odd or...
Yeah some rares, especially spirit beasts, I had a hard time renaming just because they become known for their name instead of their beast type. Its like giving them a whole new personality
I think keeping their original names is completely normal. Just play the way you want and have the most fun with it!

Re: So am I odd or...
I pretty much never do so. I mean, who am I to state that I've tamed the mate of a freakin' goddess? A TROLL goddess, to be exact (My main is a Troll, hence why I say that). I'd much rather have my little lazar kitteh be a kitten of Har'Koa and Loque'Nahak than be Loque himself. It seems a bit too... Mary Sue-ish. Besides, how awkward would it be to come across ANOTHER Hunter who has 'Loque'? Two Hunters arguing over which one has the real thing would be seriously nasty.
Buuuut that's just my opinion. =P

Not marysue-ish if you play the story right. Infact, most hunters go with 'oh this is just their kitten' so to me....its somewhat cliche. For Talu, she rescued Harkoa. Loque'nahak offered his services to her in return for her just deed.Senna-Umbreon wrote:I pretty much never do so. I mean, who am I to state that I've tamed the mate of a freakin' goddess? Re: So am I odd or...
True. I just find it not too.. Appealing of an idea. Mostly due to my love of coming up with my own characters for my pets. Not to mention my previously stated problem of incountering others with the same idea of having Loque. That could definitely get awkward.
And like I said, it's just my opinion XD

if that problem arises, we just say he protects us both when we call upon him. :3 He's a spirit beast with powers beyond our comprehension.

That works! But knowing some people, that wouldn't work all the time =P

Maybe I'm just lucky to find all the open, fun rpers. XD
Those are really the only options concerning the SBs.

Re: So am I odd or...
XD Probably cause you're actually ON an RP server! Me? Pfft! Well, except for The Venture Co.. But you pretty much NEVER find any open RP there. *Shrug*
Ain't that the truth? Well, for that specific model, at least.

True. XD Moon Guard is awesome. You find it where you least expect it.Senna-Umbreon wrote:XD Probably cause you're actually ON an RP server! Me? Pfft! Well, except for The Venture Co.. But you pretty much NEVER find any open RP there. *Shrug*

Yeah. The others you have a tad more wiggle room. Loque, he's pretty tight when it comes to options.

Re: So am I odd or...
Hence why I'd fail on Moon Guard. I flail helplessly around when I find a random RPer... And make a fool of myself cause I have no idea how to make a quick responce that doesn't sound stupid XD;
Mmhm. Though my original Gondria was supposed to be a fallen offspring of Har'Koa, so not much of a change from my Loque. Yeah, lame. But it was the best I could think of XD

Re: So am I odd or...
I doubt I'll ever get used to it. So it's probably a really good thing that open RP is pretty much a rare spawn on Venture Co XD
It may be an unique idea, but still kind of lame. But oh well! =P

All the rares that I tame who have a name, I keep.. those that don't..I rename but try to keep close to their title. Example is Oozeworm is Uzzy. The ravager sithlid is Rave...

Re: So am I odd or...
I've tried giving them their original name, but I NEVER click with them if I do that. The only time I will is if I have a certificate of ownership off cooldown and feel like calling them something until I can find the right name.

I do the same for most. My spirit beasts have their names in one more or the other. Other pets, like King Krush, were renamed after iconic figures, like Zilla (for Godzilla), though I'm probably going to change that to GINO (Godzilla in Name Only).
