All broadband is not created equal, just sayin'.Saturo wrote:I'm sorry, but the truth is that it even says right on the box "Requires broadband connection". Blizz don't officially support playing on dialup. You should be glad to be playing the game at all, really. Sorry, but that's just how it is. With such an incredible majority, Blizz can't really make sure that dialup users can play properly, since gamers using dialup is more like one in a million. I'm just saying, Blizz shouldn't have to tailor specifically for people using a connection most stopped using years ago. Sorry, but that's just how it is.
Have you checked if there's a company that sells 3G modems? You could buy a SIM-card from a company with "unlimited internet", I mean, like, fast service up to 3 gigabytes, and then they limit your speed to 120kbps or something. That's how it is in Sweden, and I've played that way. Even if I didn't find it satisfactory, I'm certain it's way better than dialup.
I also exist on DeviantArt.

A bit of palindromic wisdom:
"Step on no pets!"
Casual player.. don't raid, don't PvP. Suffer from extreme altitis
I love pets - combat or non.

I still argue no they didn't because Orgrimmar is opened up so we can get a whole shit-load of low levels there too. When Dalaran was up a low level MIGHT have their hearth set there to use the portals nothing else really but they sure as hell wouldn't AFK in Dal. So now in Orgrimmar we got a shit ton of low level afkers coupled with the fact that you have to go there to travel to other continents AND the use of the auction house. So no they didn't learn anything it's still roughly the same amount of people cramped into the same amount of space.Andine wrote:Regarding the thread title, Blizzard did learn something from Dalaran. Don't any of the Internet providers have Rural Internet options ? I know in canada we have several options to pick from.Moore wrote:AdamSavage wrote:How slow of a connection do you have that this causes you to dc ? If your connection cant even handle this then how do you raid or do dungeons ?? Even on my laptop when I lower alot of my settings down I can get 15 fps in the trade district in SW and It only has a Ati Radeon 4200 with shared memory.Moore wrote:I DO use the bank in the back I do have my hearth set in the back however I cannot even enter the front of Org without disconnecting.
28.8kbps or if I'm lucky 31.2kbps
The rural Internet we have here is wireless. If Moore could give me a list of the ISP'S in the area I could check out there site as I would know what I'm looking for.Novikova wrote:Probably not, depending on his ISP. The internet companies tend to own the lines that run. It's one of the great downsides of privatized internet. :/ Once an ISP owns all the lines, its competitors can't use them at all.
