Re: Seagulls can fly!
does this mean they don't despawn when you get on your flying mounts perhaps?
Ground bound pets should only despawn if you hop onto a flying mount. And flying pets should always stay out.
Seriously, I think it's a about time

Re: Seagulls can fly!
Just posted about how my new Bird of Prey can fly and was directed here. It's awsome! Noticed it in the Nexus as my pet was able to attack Drakes and even follow the ring boss into the center ring when he teleported. Bird of Prey, a pet that can fly, attack PvPers on flying mounts and even [snatch] their weapon from them. This things begging to be used in PvP!
Speaking of PvP, flying pets could solve problems with oponents hiding in areas that are out of the line of site.

They still despawn, unfortunately. Would be nice if they flew like the Tickbird vainity pets.Kayb wrote:does this mean they don't despawn when you get on your flying mounts perhaps?

Re: Seagulls can fly!
This is the bird I tamed and yes, it does fly. Took a lower level hunter out there and his flew too.Jaraii wrote:I got the zomboe bird for giggles. I'll have to see if it does this, whenever the comp finishes updating. He's stabled tho, hopefully that doesn't wipe the behavior.
Off topic, has the ant shown any odd behaviors besides not angling properly with sloped terrain?

Rikaku wrote:I thought mine could do this before i even saw the thread. I have the undead eagle and I noticed right after taming him on patch night, that he sometimes flew really high into the air, far higher than my other birds of prey. I suspect if you see your pets flying "exceptionally high" beside you, they just might do this.
Well, I have noticed something about this too. I have both Aotona and the red- and bloodred parrots, and Aotona is idling lower than the new parrots... maybe the newer pets do this... I have to try! Right now!

Edit:
Okay, I just tried this and Aotona does not fly, however the new parrots do! I also tried my blue/white Wrath chimera (doesn't remember the name), my purple plaguelands bat, my nether ray and (just for fun) my matriarch bone-spider, and none of these pets fly

Re: Seagulls can fly!
Some flying pets coast allong the ground like their walking. Perhaps the actual flying pets are tied to wether or not flying was in therir coding before taming? The undead eagles are pulled out of flight, seaguls could be pulled out of flight too.

Re: Seagulls can fly!
Actually the bat i mentioned earlier (the dark claw bat in howling fjord) Had this ability since it was first tamed. Back when we had eyes of the beast he would float but couldn't go up or down. Jumping had no effect on the bat. He also wouldn't fall if i flew him off a building. So this "bug" has been around since WOTLK.
I think this effect is due to the way the pet is moving. I always figured the devs made pets levitate to make it easy to keep them in the air.
But i tested with the flying crows in howling fjord outside the forsaken base. They didn't fly.
Not sure whats up with these new flying birds. So this is the info i have figured out about it

Re: Seagulls can fly!
I miss Eyes of the Beast even more now...imagine how awesome it would be if the spell allowed us to use our flying pets as aerial surveillance, much like the warlock Eye can in flying zones.
Re: Seagulls can fly!
Just got Diseased Hawk, named him Hábrök.
Perfect model, love it.
And I got question - whats the best tree for cunning pets? For both 20 and 16 points.
Thanks :O)

May be that was a reason to remove it from the game?:O)Vephriel wrote:I miss Eyes of the Beast even more now...imagine how awesome it would be if the spell allowed us to use our flying pets as aerial surveillance, much like the warlock Eye can in flying zones.

Re: Seagulls can fly!
People reported that the Darkclaw Bats in Howling Fjord were able to as well, I thought. I might be misremembering that one. I would also strongly suspect that the Tainted Screechers in Blasted Lands will be able to. And the brown hawks in Western plaguelands, though getting them down to tame them would be difficult.
The Undead eagles fly, too. As do the condors from Loch Modan (maybe even Lord Condar).

Felfeeders do this too. So do the black vultures in the Badlands.

I believe the Kalimdor Eagle would be another flier, if I judge right. I've only just seen them today.
