i just went back now six hours after I tamed him and no Terropene, so not sure what the respawn is

So my Hunt began at 8:30 server. Me and my RL buddy are lvling together on Horde him being a rogue me being a spriest. He decides that he should pick up mining because I got a bar a head of him with my herbalism. So I have been lvling my hunter solo while he hasn't been on and I decide that I would came Terrorpene since I hit 81 earlier that morning on my hunter.

And with all tames you have to be patient. He just about broke me at about 5 hours mark, but thanks to you guys and the multiple 6 o'clock spawn timers I stuck it out and at 2:45 server there he is 6 hours later. which meant I had just missed him at 8:30 xD.

But my rl buddy had went to bed. I had called him being 4 am his time. and he said he couldn't make it on in time being dead asleep. so I decided I would ask General. I got a reply from a kind shammy. but no luck with out priest bubbles I could get the tame I was not fast enough.

So the shammy had to go and then Another ally hunter showed up I had stated that I was camping here for 6 hours and not a single soul was with me so I ask that If anything happens I just want him to be tamed. didnt matter at that point who.

Then a horde shammy flew in and started to attack but was quickly dispatched by Terrorpene and she gave up. My hunter friend called in her priest friend. and I was so disappointed I thought for sure she would grab her before me. after all this wait. So I quickly /who Hyjal. I was in luck a lvl 81 priest by the name of Liv soon to find out that shes the most amazing priest ever. She didn't reply. so a few corehoud solo attempts later I get a tell from Liv the priest apologizing about not replying. She stated that she was in a quest and couldn't stop.

She quickly flew to me and we tried the tame but failed but I was 1 sec away from the tame. I said he have this. I went and grabbed another corehound. I had my rotation ready.

BW-Hysteria-Deterrence-Tame. I use BW because it seems that he disrupts the tame after channeling the lava lazer. Live gave me Bubble-PoM-and PW:Barrie and Bam I am now a Proud new Owner of Torkoal.

Anyone else of them rares you are after? If I see one and don't need the tame I'll tell you!

Most of the new rares I had no desire for...but the moment I saw Terrorpene on this site I knew I wanted him. I wanted him more than I wanted Aotona...whom I camped for weeks and I still haven't gotten.

But I didn't think I'd get him, and certainly didn't think I'd get him so soon after launch. But I decided I would try. I'd quest in Hyjal, just so I could look for him every couple of hours. Well, I got to 81, headed down to the pool and OMG there he was. I tried to tame him...died. I tried again...died. Then an alliance hunter showed up. They tried to tame, they died. We then started alternating tames, I'd tame and die, then they would tame and die. Eventually I got a priest to help me and they got a shaman to help them. Just as I was trying to get the priest to understand that all I wanted them to do was stand by me and holy nova spam...the other hunter tamed it. Disappointed I paid the priest 100g for her time, and congratulated the other hunter through emotes since I was horde.

Undeterred I decided I would try again later. Since I knew when he was tamed I figured I could find him when he respawned. I then took the time to get a little better gear. 32K health was not enough. I also found a nice haste trinket, Mindfletcher Trinket and got me a couple haste potions. I also timed my tames with and without bloodlust, and realized that even though bloodlust made my tame bar longer, it also made my tame shorter. That confused me a bit and so I hadn't been using bloodlust the first time. About the time that terrorpene was supposed to spawn, I started flying around his spawn point. At that time I had 37K health and 70 fire resist so I thought I might be able to do it. And then I saw another alliance hunter. I considered leaving and letting them have the spawn, but decided against it. I'd let them have the first tame. If they were able to do it, great if not then I'd try. For the next two hours me and the other hunter flew around that point. Bored, I started fishing the pools of fire. Got about 50 volatile fire...but in the end I didn't see Terrorpene spawn. It was getting late so I posted the fire on the AH and went to bed.

This morning I got up and decided to try looking for him again. But, instead of camping the spawn point, I figured I'd finish up my quests in the area and check every half hour or so. Two hours later I hit 82 and now I have 47K health. I'm suddenly more confident that I'd be able to tame him, but that's only if he shows up. As I'm finishing up my quests, I decided that I won't stay on much longer, so I'll check ONE more time...and what do I see, but Terrorpene again!

This time I ate my haste fish, got out my corehound, bloodlusted, dismissed pet, used my trinket, haste potion and then I tamed....aaaaand I succeed on my first try! Giddy with glee I tell my guild that I got the turtle! Of course, my guild is tiny..and I was the only one on at the time, so all I was telling was myself, but I was just that excited.

I named him Bowser. Uncreative, but the name fits.

YAY got my turtle. I'm gonna use him everywhere. :3 Fortunately I'm done with Hyjal so I won't mess up people's NPC scanners.

Tamed him on Tapeworm (83 Orc) this morning on Area 52... around 7am server time (an hour before the maintenance/restart/whatever-it-was).

I will not be naming him Bowser.

Most epic tame ever....So after last night watching Kiba..now Wolfgangpuck, taming Terrorpene I knew I had to tame him too! I wasn't on 6 hours after he was supposed to spawn, so I showed up 12 hours later in hopes he would be there, and BAM my macro goes off...there is the turtle of doom wading through the lava. After many failed attempts last night, I went to the AH and my alchemist buddy and stocked up on Scrolls of Fortitude, Drums of Forgotten Kings, Elixirs of Mighty Speed, Potions of speed, and Prismatic Elixirs. With all that I had 41,143 health and 142 fire resistance, plus the

/cast Ancient Hysteria
/script PetAbandon()
/use potion of speed
/cast tame beast

macro, I got out my temp core hound, used all the potions and elixirs, hit the macro, tame starts channeling....

Channeling....

It stops MIDWAY and then there's a glow, and Terrorpene is mine. No idea what happened but I am so not complaining!!

Now the only thing he/she needs is a name!

I probably had the easiest tame here, it wasn't elite! I'm don't think it was intentional but there he was, and I just pressed 'Tame Beast' not sure what was ahead of me, and 10 seconds later I tamed him! Didn't cross my mind to make a screenie though :/

When WoW-Peopia had come out with the new pets for Cataclysm, I naturally was drooling over most of them. One in particular I grew very fond of and that was Terrorpene. I had not seen much information on him at all, however, I decided to take a look each day and see if any new information had come out regarding roughly where he spawned in Mt. Hyjal. I finally decided to google it and I found another thread someone posted in Beta regarding taming this pet. I decided to keep an eye out while my husband and I were questing in the zone.

Here are some facts:

I was level 82 when I tamed Terrorpene.
I found him at the Throne of Flame in Mt. Hyjal at 2:20am PST Dec 8th on the realm Korgath.
I tried to tame once just to see what he would do and I promptly died. Why? He does about 10k damage per second with a ranged fire breath attack. Needless to say he is not overly happy about someone trying to take him out of his natural environment!
I had my husband with me, and he was on his prot pally. He threw up resist aura and threw a divine light my way part way through the tame.
I also used the Elixir of Lightening Speed and popped a haste potion before taming.

I oh so barely got this tame and was fighting with another hunter who saw me trying to tame him and tried to take it from me. He died and came back, tried again just as I got back from a death and my husband got there. Once he died again, I got the tame off and Terrorpene was mine. My husband rezzed the other hunter and he went on his way. I do wish him the best of luck taming this pet if he is reading this.

Terrorpene has all of the same abilities as the regular turtle tenacity pets as far as I can tell.

I have no idea what the spawn time is on this guy but I hope some of this information helps!

I posted two screenshots- one of the map and location of where I found him, and one of me with him!

I named him Tosk since all of my pet names are Star Trek themed. It seemed to fit!

Edit: Okay, I just talked with another hunter who tamed him at 4pm server time (when I tamed him, it was 4am server time) so I'm guessing on a 12 hour spawn but I don't know for sure.

JUST GOT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took me down to 500 health from 50,700

No fire resist, just lots of haste and luck.

Tamed it 8PM Server time on Amanth'ul. I rushed to level 81 as fast as could and went over to camp for this baby. Surprisingly there were not a lot of hunters around, I guess they are all out leveling. Well I waited a couple of hours being prepaid to wait a long as I could since I was done with school =) Well when Terrorpene spawned I quickly looked for healers in the area and was willing to pay them 500g for their effort. The first druid who came turned out to be feral so he couldn't heal through the laser that was hitting me hard. I was level 81 with 31,984 health. After two tries I was able to get another druid who was a healer offspec to come help. The next problem that we encountered was that the healer was getting aggro so I couldn't focus my tame. One plan was for the druid to put HOTs on me then fly away so that they didn't get aggro. After 6 or 7 deaths I was able to tame Terrorpene with lifebloom keeping me alive. I died the same time I tamed Terrorpene. Talk about lucky! Well I am very happy for my pet. The healers who helped me only wanted gold for repairs. I gladly gave them 50 gold each. My pet's name is Aohell =)

Terrorpene spawned at the southern end of SUrfuron Spire. But during our attempts he lapped up North but staying at the lower level and did not ascend up any level.

Good luck to all of the hunters out there. Just remember I was able to tame him at level 81 with a lot of effort and luck.

All I knew when I started my journey was that there was a bigass lava turtle in MH. I had no clue that he was a hard time like mr. crush or whatsoever.
I spotted him the second I flew over there, pressed tame beast and he was mine. I had about 95% HP left (had 98k hp). It wasn't an elite, I'm definately sure of that. I didn't do anything special, I even alt tabbed while taming. I am being very serious, it wasn't an elite

All I knew when I started my journey was that there was a bigass lava turtle in MH. I had no clue that he was a hard time like mr. crush or whatsoever.
I spotted him the second I flew over there, pressed tame beast and he was mine. I had about 95% HP left (had 98k hp). It wasn't an elite, I'm definately sure of that. I didn't do anything special, I even alt tabbed while taming. I am being very serious, it wasn't an elite

if you were 85 im sure it wasnt tough but he is a rare elite.

Tried looooaaads of different things on my own at first, but none of them worked and I ended up dying (damn he hits hard. O.O; ).
Got a paladin friend of mine flying in for the resi aura and aura mastery. Popped up the macro someone mentioned here earlier, and here's my new friend:

The first day I started playing I was 95% to 81 when I saw a Shammy post 'I just killed this elite called Terrorpene and all he dropped was this lousy grey!'

So I spent the last two days camping and flying over the lava pool like it was my job. Did lots of research on here and got a core hound and potions for good measure. I kept seeing other hunters hanging around and hated the thought of losing him so I stayed up until past 4am server time to try catch him. No luck! I passed out staring at orange lava 0_o

Camped more the next day, I went and got dinner from Wendy's, came back and NPC scan had picked him up! I flew up the coast and spotted him strolling through the lava.


My toon was AFK so I couldn't see my health bar and died on the first tame attempt. Died a second and third time before I asked around for a healer.

A random druid came and helped me out, he was pulling aggro on heal so I shot Terrorpene until he was about 80% health before taming. Healer kept me up and I was one happy happy hunter when the monster shrank and ran towards me!

Another hunter flew by and congratulated me, I gave her some tips on taming the hard hitting beast! Just gotta get Sambas now

I'm really happy how the new rares are looking in cata. Little bit of challenge to the taming process. Especially looking forward to that wee puzzle when I'm high enough to tame Jadefang. I've fallen in love with those little spiders, love their animations and sounds!

So do you need to do any Hyjal quests at all to get him to show up, or should I be fine with seeing him coming into the zone fresh?

Also, I'm amused that he still doesn't have a Wowhead page.

I've done barely any quests in the area, (leveled through mining) and my friend had not done single one when she flew in to help me.

And yeah, also wondering what's up with wowhead. Ghostcrawler ain't there either.
