For example, how many of us have been dreaming about the ghostly wolf since we started playing WoW?
If Blizzard REALLY wanted to make Hunters happy, they'd have given us a ghostly wolf a long time ago.
Yeah, they gave us a ghost wolf now, a rare, that's level 85. oh great.
I think that "giving in" to Hunter requests by tossing in a max-level rare isn't quite the route they should have gone.

Do you realize how far out of their way they went this expansion to give us more pets than ever and all you can complain about is that they don't like us exploiting game mechanics to get sparkly pets? To me, that seems pretty ungrateful.Sukurachi wrote:The funny thing is, Blizzard aren't seeing the obvious here: there are LOADS of hunters who WANT sparkly pets.

Yes the sparkly pets are cool, but pets were never intended to be tamed in such a way by Blizzard and they're putting a stop to it. Be happy they didn't go through and wipe people's individual stables of these pets.

Re: Pets With Appearance Buffs no longer tameable
I can only speak for myself here, but I don't really care all that much for most of the new pet looks or families.
My favourite pet so far has been Gondria.
I would so dearly have loved a wolf with that sort of look.
I LIKE sparkly pets. I have the sparkle pony which everyone seems to hate, and use it on ALL my toons, even those with dragon mounts. I LIKE it. I like shiny, sparkly things.
So speaking for me, I wish Blizz had implemented a few more sparkly, flamey, or otherwise unusual-looking pets within the gamut of "pets that are not impossible to tame without the help of a 40-man raid".
If so many players have TRIED to get the ghostly look on wolves, isn't that an indicator that that is a highly desired look for a wolf? I'm just terribly disappointed that I will have to wait the many months it will take me to get to 85 and all that camping to get the only one in-game now: a rare.

Re: Pets With Appearance Buffs no longer tameable
The reason I ask is I never used a macro to tame any of my appearance buff pets. I did it all the old fashioned way (sort of) of basically abandoning the pet as soon as I saw the buff was not there so there was no delay in abandoning something. I didn't even use my taming macro that I have for the old hard tames like the king dinos and The Beast. I would be petless and attempt it that way.
From my understanding, unless this headache is really tweaking with my brain, Blizz only fixed the macro method.
Anyone willing to test it this way or at this point is it being completely left alone????

I think you're being awfully negative about the situation. Of course it's going to take that long if you're being so pessimistic about it.Sukurachi wrote:If so many players have TRIED to get the ghostly look on wolves, isn't that an indicator that that is a highly desired look for a wolf? From what it seems like, they fixed it all. However, even if they didn't, going out and trying to tame one of these pets could put your account at risk.zedxrgal wrote:Has the method been removed only if you're using the macro method or it doesn't matter????

@Suk: Be happy they brought the ghost wolf skin back at all. They easily could've just kept it locked away.

Hopefully you wont have to wait months to tame Karoma. It doesn't take that long to get to 85 and hopefully you are lucky with the spawn.

I don't party much, mostly just dual-box, and don't do any dungeons anymore (too many painfully bad experiences).
so yes, it WILL take me quite a bit of time to hit 85.
I'm not being "negative", but rather realistic. I know how I play, how much time I can allot to it, and how long it takes me to achieve my goals.

Blizzard busted their ass to get us many pets we've always desired and thensome, whether some looks are rare or not.
If you want something bad enough, you'll work for it. I didnt like Skoll was lvl 80 but yanno what? I busted my butt to get my hunters to lvl 80 so they could get him.

Yes, I sent my flaming boar to his death in Vashjr. Rezzed him. And... he's still on fire
So there you go!
Re: Pets With Appearance Buffs no longer tameable
This so very, VERY much. I created my Hunter so I could tame Loque, which meant at the time leveling all the way up to max level and then camping in that Light-forsaken basin for who knows how long.Taluwen wrote:Blizzard busted their ass to get us many pets we've always desired and thensome, whether some looks are rare or not.

But it's because I worked so hard that I was on pins and needles with excitement when I found him and was on cloud nine for the entire day when I tamed him. I'm proud of my achievement and what I did to get there, just as I will be when I find what I'm looking for in Cata.

I see your point though, and people will always have different opinions. I think most people do get the rares they are aiming for in the end, sure it might take long but I suppose it just feels even better when you finally get it.

Well, by your logic, this is Blizz's game and their choice. "Live with it".Sukurachi wrote:I know you will disagree with me, but that's life. it's my opinion. live with it.

You're not paying me.
I AM paying Blizzard.
It's not like I'm making a Federal case out of it.
I AM allowed to be disappointed that certain pets I was hoping for did not make the roster, without being reprimanded by the Blizzard apologist brigade, aren't I?
It's disappointment.
It's not like I'm threatening to stop playing WoW because of it.
I'm not pitching off angry letters to Customer Service.
I'm only expressing that *I* am disappointed that pet skins I'd always dreamt of having are not available.

Re: Pets With Appearance Buffs no longer tameable
They did do about half what I thought they would. They simply hotfixed the macro. However based on past experiences with hunters who have to tamed unintended pets, they've made it so they can no longer be tamed, but let the Hunter's who do have them, keep them. There is a chance they'll do what they did with the Worgen and simply wipe the buff from stabled pets. It's one or the other. I tamed an Oil-Stained Worg without this trick, but I did tame a Ghost Wolf with it.
Like I said, I doubt anyone will get a suspension or ban over it, but I think Blizzard should take it as a note for future reference if they want to avoid it again. If there's a sparkly or unique pet out there, somebody WILL find a way around to tame it. It seems to be too much trouble and hell, there are bigger things for Blizzard to fry. My guess is they will just leave this for a while.

Re: Pets With Appearance Buffs no longer tameable
Nobody's saying that people who already did this will be faced with a suspension or ban. Some of us are saying that if you find a way around their hotfix, then you potentially put your account at risk. Technically these taming methods tamper with Blizzard's coding that would otherwise cleanse the pet. They've put a hotfix out, which basically says "We don't want you guys to be doing this." Now that it's basically been outright stated, you could get in trouble for newly taming one of these pets, not owning one that you tamed previously.Aleu wrote:To me, I don't think Blizzard is against sparkly pets. I just don't think they liked the method that people used to have pets keep their buffs. As for them suspending or banning people for doing it? Very doubtful. There are possibly hundreds (Maybe even thousands) of hunters that might have these in their stables. It's too much trouble to go through their stables and suspend or send warnings to all those who have tamed them before.

Re: Pets With Appearance Buffs no longer tameable
You might wanna check the definition of what a Blizzard Apologist is, because you clearly don't know what one is if you think I am one. I'm very well aware that the cool pets tier is set at 85 because Blizz wants you to spend money on their game to level. That's not an Apologist by any stretch.Sukurachi wrote:the main difference?

You can be disappointed until the Spirit Beasts come home, it won't change the fact that this is how Blizzard operates when it comes to glitch pets, past, present, and future. Be glad they gave us the Spirit Wolf at all, 'cause we sure as heck didn't get a Hydra or Slime (though those are illogical as Hunter pets imho), and you don't see me getting all upset about that.
Also, the "pet skins you'd always dreamed of having", ie the wolf, ARE available. Don't say it's not just because it's going to take you a "long time" to get there. You probably have other pet wishes, but since you're using the wolf as the head of your argument, that's what I'm going off of. That's not unavailability, that's your time restrictions.
