Incredibly bad good luck!

Unread post by Kikanu »

For the past few days, I've been steadily farming. Farming, farming, farming. Herbs, minerals, herbs, minerals, etc. I've happened upon so many random rarespawns that it isn't even funny. Now, my warrior is best suited for mining, while my druid is the only herbalist I have. My warrior can kill things in 2-3 hits, and my druid can easily escape from all situations. Where does that leave my hunter? Stormwind, waiting for new pets to tame.

The first moment of my incredibly bad good luck is in Twilight Highlands. I myself care little for Sambas, but I really want Karoma badly. I'm out mining on my warrior, and his npc scan isn't set up to show Karoma, Sambas, Madexx, or Jadefang for some reason, so I vaguely notice when one is found. I'm just north of Thundermar, and lo and behold I see a giant turd slinking across the ground at about 40 yards above the ground. I must have great eyesight, cause it was in an area full of brown things and other enemies! It was none other than Sambas, and I knew a guildie wanted the fat headed lion. So, I go down there, switch to prot spec, taunt and tag Sambas, and let it beat on me while my friend comes out. A random tauren druid swoops in, and cyclone/hibernate spams it for me, quite the nice gesture! My guildie gets out here, I motion to the tauren, and my friend gets aggro off of me and tames it. A good, happy ending to the day's luck, or so I thought. My mining netted me about 600~ gold in green gems, 200g in volatile earth and water, and about 2k in Elementium.

I switch over to my druid for some deepholm herbing, since my druid is resto/feral with level 78/80 boomkin gear. An incredibly bad choice of specs and gear, but no matter. I'm herbing hard, attempting to get to level 85 just by herbing at level 83. I get to 84, and now I'm 6 bars in. My rested exp is gone, so herbing became incredibly slow leveling. As I fly by Therazane, the only place in deepholm with no herbs, BADUM-DUM-DUN-WOOOOOOoooooohhhh....., Jadefang appears again! I decide to swoop in and attempt to kill it, but see a night elf hunter dying fast. I quickly hit Hibernate on it for him, careful to not take aggro, and it saves the dude. I heal him up, he gives me a thanks, and I go back to my merry escape from worms that nearly kill me. By the end of this day, I've netted 12k gold in blackfallow ink and Inferno ink, and about 20k in Volatile Life: quite the incredible feat!

The final straw, however, was a double slap in the face. I'm out in Uldum, doing some archaeology on my warrior. A sudden red blur hits my screen as I try to loot the last fragments to make a rare. The red blur is none other than Red Madexx, the other Madexx I want to compliment my green one. I take care to avoid killing it, simply running away to deaggro, and abandoning my arch fragments. When I deaggro, I use a Disconnect macro to quickly switch characters. I get out there on my hunter, put away my current pet, and begin taming. I did not notice, however, that I was pvp flagged for some reason, and a heavily geared pvp hunter traps Madexx, and kills me really fast. Soon as I res, I see him flying to me. He lands, shows off his red Madexx, and shoots me to death again. QQ, I was dumb to be flagged. His gloating was unwarranted, but still, I was a bloody idiot myself.

Going on about my archaeology on the warrior, I make my rare and head to Twilight Highlands for another round of mining, despite it sucking badly for money compared to herbing. I start my round, and suddenly I see a bright blue glow. I immediately thing "God D*mmit", and try to ignore it, thinking it may have just been another hunter. I was after Karoma because I like how it looks, and was robbed of my chance to get the original wolf due to shamans on my server charging incredible fees to use their heroism for that tame. Skipping along a few moments, I see someone say in general chat "YES I GOT KAROMA". I closed out World of Warcraft, opened Team Fortress 2, named one of the bots in offline practice as my hunter, set the hunter on easy difficulty, and beat the living crap out of it with a baseball bat.

The good news? I got a worthless rare artifact from Tol'Vir archaeology that summons tons of scarabs that do nothing, and about 40k gold. The bad news: My hunter got absolutely nothing. 40k gold won't get me a Red Madexx or Karoma. Well, back to farming for the Sandstone Drake, I guess.

Aww, that sucks. I totally feel for you!

I usually always make it a point if I'm going to go to an area where a pet I want spawns, I'll go on my hunter first to do a quick fly by. One night, my shaman needed to do her transmute for air volatiles. I'm thinking, okay a quick port in, transmute and hearth then get on hunter. So when I got on my hunter, I went up to the Madexx spawn area just in time to see an alliance mage nuke down a blue Madexx. A color I've been after for awhile now. =( Had I been on my hunter first, I would've gotten it. =(

That other hunter needs kicked in his lower extremities. Twice. Completely uncalled for in several aspects. Sorry for your bad luck :(
