I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on something that is potentially dangerous for your betta fish. I purchased Wardley Betta Food because I had run out of the regular stuff. My fishy Spaz gets 4 and Valenti gets 3. I dropped them in the tank at eating time and walked away. I came back an hour or so later and I find my precious Spaz completely white and at the bottom of his tank. I quickly checked the temperature [80 degrees F] and all the water quality things [nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, etc] with a legitimate test kit [not those paper ones you just dip in the water] and everything was PERFECT. I had JUST put him in the tank the other day so the water was chlorine and chloramine free. The only option I could think of was that Spaz had choked on his food. What else could it have been?? The pellets are SMALL. Seriously. It's hard to judge the size by looking at it. I did a [rather dangerous, now that I think about it] test and fished out what seemed to be a regularly sized pellet. I dropped it in with Valenti to watch him eat it. HE COULDN'T EVEN GET IT ALL THE WAY IN HIS MOUTH. I spooked him and he spit it out. I fished out the pellet and was so pissed that I threw the extra food somewhere in my yard.
My poor Spaz. I don't know if I got weird food or there was some freak accident or WHAT but I wanted to let you guys know about this food, just in case. I know for a fact I won't ever be buying it again.
RIP Spaz. You were a pretty little guy and you didn't deserve to go that way. I miss you.
