Staying female, or switching to male?

Female night elves are alright, but having an NE female hunter myself, I'll warn you that there are irritating quirks. Like the bounce, to show off her chest like a little girl. Or the dance that basically just screams give me a pole and I'll dance for tips plz.

On a purely gaming level, depends. NE's racials include a bonus to dodging, more speed when dead, and Shadowmeld, which is a nice little poor-man's FD and is also nice when you have to AFK in a dangerous location. Now the question is, do you want to get that, or stick with what you have already--a racial heal (always nice in a tight spot), and a boost in hit? The choice is ultimately up to you.

If the mount is the only issue, it is VERY easy to grind up rep with both Darnassus and Stormwind before you hit level 30. You could get a cat or a horse very easily with only a little effort. Just do all the NE starter quests--even in the newbie zone, as well as Darkshore and Ashenvale. Then do the lowbie quests everywhere else; the spillover on rep is enough to push you over the top easy.

I personally would 10 times out of 10 choose a Draenei over a Night Elf. My hunter (which is now Orc) Was Night Elf for the 1-80.

Some things irritated me about them. The bounce ,the floppy ears, plus, If you have a crossbow. The nelf Crossbow animation, after it fires they seem to jump a little and close their eyes, like they're shocked.

Yeah the bouncing... gets to you after a while. Though Draenei have their own problems, they seem to be like fem belves and not always look right while sitting on a mount..

And I can also back up the rep factor. The original reason I first rolled an ally toon? Well after starting and stopping and all that- was Anetta on Hellfire [EU], she was a draenei not because of racial abilities or disabilities or anything like that...

Because me in my stupidity thought Draenei have to be like Blood elves. They gotta start lower rep like them. Gotta be hard to get rep. I want other mounts but I have to work for i-.

My mind was blown by all quests barely out of the starter area just throwing reputation at me. I died a little on the inside.

By 37 I had my tigers.

I died more.

At anyrate I would suggest, just stick with Draenei- there's no reason to waste money to switch a character to another race just over a simple racial mount. It's not as bad as tauren having none- then only Kodo, and then after that only worgs t look forward to. And since your toon is a hunter, there's no reason to buy a mount right away. There's always AotC and imp AotC.

I have treid all the races, and Draeni by far are my favorite. The Gift of the Naaru is one of the better racials. Who doesn't love a free heal. The only non draeni of mins is my druid. The racial is awesome when taming (or fleeing in fear lol)

Indeed, it is a nice racial. Unfortunately, however, it does'nt seem to scale as well for AP users, meaning that clothies get more health out of it. Don't forget Trolls and Orcs, Berserking and Bloodfury are INCREDIBLY nice racials. Night Elves, however, don't really have that good racials. They get a weak stealth, and they run faster when they're dead, and as we all know, Hunters don't die that often.

Well, the Night Elves have an additional chance to not get hit by attackers, which is always nice for taming. That's not so bad. :O The stealth is kinda weak, unless you need to AFK in the middle of dangerous territory, which is always nice (like having to run off and answer the phone). And it could be useful if you pvp too and have a cat/spirit beast.
